On this shopping trip I stopped by Best Buy across the street first and then directly went across the street to this Future shop branch. I’m still unsure as to why two box stores which sell the same things for the most part are located so closely together, Doesn’t much make sense at all. It seems to me like Future shop places a slightly larger emphasis on its home appliance section, and perhaps home theatre section. Price-wise it’s definitely more expensive here than across the street(from what I could tell). I’m not sure whether one store pays its commission and the other doesn’t, but that could potentially explain the price differences. this Future Shop is also not quite as nicely and cleanly organized as other stores of the same name I’ve been to in the recent past. All in all still a decent place to go look around… their display of 4KTV’s playing demo DVD’s was quite impressive… and you never know. here and there, may still be some deals to be had. just don’t hold your breath.

OK People, I went Christmas shopping to get my husband a USB. There was one on sale for 7.99 Regular Price 29.99(that’s what the ticket said anyway). I get to cash, very friendly girl rings my stuff through. The USB rung up as 29.99. Told the girl it says 7.99 it’s on sale blah blah blah. I went to confirm I got it from the right spot, got a sales guy to confirm I took the proper one. He then said the tag was in the wrong spot, he apologize and took the tag off the wrong item and the price was now 29.99. I took the one that was on sale and went back to the girl ringing me through, she said go get the original one IT’S FREE!!! I almost fell on the floor. This was a 30.00 item… yeah ok, you had 20 or more on display with the wrong price but FREE! Thanks Future Shop you make a forever customer out of me!

Electronics, we have them, we use them, we love them, we hate them! This store has it all! But so do many other stores. I’ve had good, and bad experiences here! My good ones come when i know what i want, and just go in and get it.(my typical way of shopping) The bad ones come from dealing with one of the store sales folks, they never listen to what i want, and ALWAYS try to up sell me to something i don’t need, or sell me a protection plan, which i don’t recommend anyone ever buy, Waste of money! If you plan to buy something electronic, do your research on line, and if this place has what you want at the price you are willing to pay, just go in and buy it! Don’t let one of the sales people change your mind or up sell you! Pretty much the same anywhere you go!

Great place for geeks! I got lots of technical stuff at this place! You could check the price at both futureshop and best buy, sometimes it’s negotiable;)

I’m not a big fan of Future Shop. I’ve always found the(commission-based) staff a bit pushy. It’s one of the reasons I’ve always favoured Best Buy. This location, however, seems to have a more relaxed feel. Staff are friendly and helpful without being overbearing. And there always seem to be lots of them around to answer your questions. Which isn’t to say that you won’t get a sales pitch to upgrade and/or spend more but it’s a bit more subtle than the BLIP location. As for the store, I don’t find the layout very intuitive. For example, why not have all the music and/or music accessories near each other? Still, the prices are good and staff are helpful so it’s A-OK in my books.

It’s been a terrible month as a home owner for us. The latest hitch as property owners is that our fridge bit the dust. It was a slow, shuddering death that resulted in many casualties. The poor tub of ice cream didn’t stand a chance. So we pocketed our savings and headed out to shop for a new ice box. Futureshop usually doesn’t hit the appliance store radar, but a family member recommended the place to us, so we figured it was worth a shot. Normally, their prices are comparable with other locations, but we found that they carried many of the higher end appliances on the market. It makes sense, as an electronics store, to carry appliances that have the latest bells and whistles. Who knew washing machines practically come standard with motherboards these days? Luckily for us, they also had a bit of a lower end fridge. That, combined with a great sale, meant that we could find an affordable new home for our leftovers and popsicles. What cinched the deal, however, was the fantastic customer service. Our salesperson did not try to push for store cards, extra warranties, or payment plans. He cut right through the bull, gave it to us straight, and was very open and honest with us when we told him we were just browsing at first. He didn’t try to upsell us the fancier models to make a bigger sale, because he agreed with us that simpler is sometimes better. He was such a refreshing salesperson compared to the other five we encountered earlier in the day that we made sure to come back to give him the sale. Not only was the service great, but their delivery deadline beat all of the competitors we saw: 5 days vs 2 – 3 weeks. Plus, instead of trying to sell us the extra cost of having our old fridge hauled away, he recommended us a service that will pay us $ 35 to haul away our fallen soldier. We’ll definitely be going back to Future Shop if any of our other appliances fail. I just hope it’ll be quite some time before that’s necessary.
