Ermagrd, i love this place! I usually only login to take down crappy restaurants and their impostor food, but OTG is a dang miracle on Pleasant St. I highly recommend the BBQ beef burger. It’s a saucy slow roast meat, topped with melted cheese, crispy bacon(like ACTUALLY crispy, not all soggy/chewy/old) and an onion ring or 2. Such a genius combination of flavours. So much better than a ground beef burger, which is good in it’s own right, but this is… heavenly. The strawberry milkshake also contains real strawberries! Quite novel in this age of artificial flavas. The whip cream, however, IS fake. It would be amazing if it was the real deal, but maybe that would be TOO good. I had a poutine here once as well. Not my fav, won’t order again(probably) as the fries just don’t pack a punch. But fries are easy to come by and I’d rather save the carbs for a soft bun holding my delicious BBQ burg together. Glory be to OTG. (Note: i have never been inside, only drive-thru.)

Fast service, good food. The coleslaw was especially tasty. The ribs were good and the chicken was tender and juicy.

What a mess. This was the most confusing dining experience I have ever had! You start your experience by walking into what is clearly a fast-food restaurant, you walk up to a counter to order your food and find out that they think they are a Moxie’s and charge you accordingly. They ask you to sit and they bring your food to the table, okay, maybe the cost is justified, it’s a sit-down restaurant… NOPE! The food is served to you, at your table, on a plastic tray, in a take out container, but with real cutlery, lol. The food is okay, not great, but good enough. I might have been able to enjoy the food more if I understood where exactly I was and if I felt as though the price was justified(which it would have been if I were at a restaurant that didn’t resemble a 50’s pop shoppe and order at a counter).

We went for the burger week special which makes this a strange review because although I was satisfied with the food it was not what I expected and had been waiting for, leaving me the most disappointed I’ve ever been with food I throughly enjoyed. The burger week special stated: Gourmet BBQ beef burger — blah, blah, blah, old cheddar, potato scallion bun — this was not what we received. We received sliced beef, a slice of cheese that was most certainly not ‘old’ and we opted for the multigrain over the white bun, but were not told it wasn’t going to be the potato scallion one. We also split an order of fries between us and two cans of soda. The sandwich was delicious, the onion rings didn’t overwhelm and the sauce was really good for a standard BBQ sauce. It’s something I could have seen myself ordering for a lunch on a normal day, but it can not be considered a burger in any way. I don’t remember there being mayo on it, but supposedly it had some. Couldn’t have been too much because I really dislike mayo and I would have had to scrape most of it off had it been excessive, like some places tend to do. Fries were okay, standard fare from frozen type, but not exceptional. I wish I’d went with the waffle fries, but next time. I absolutely highly suggest you try a mason jar dessert and was openly ecstatic that we decided not to share one. We both got the salted caramel brownie one and it was amazingly delicious — so much so that I would have found a way to lick out the jar had I been at home! All in all, definitely try this place. We’ll be back to try different things another day, that’s for sure. I just wish they’d been up front with their«burger» that wasn’t a burger.

I’ve always felt I’d rather go to a restaurant with a small menu that does everything well than a place that has a massive menu that’s meh. This place falls in the former category. Set up like a fast food restaurant, you order at the counter. Eat in or take out, orders are ready pretty quickly. The place is clean and bright with plenty of seating, friendly service and good food. I had the wing and rib combo, B had the white meat quarter chicken dinner. We each had the regular fries and an order of onion rings to share. We decided to eat in and we didn’t have to wait long before our orders arrived at our table hot off the grill. The ribs were tender and meaty with the right amount of sauce. The wings were on the smaller side, not breaded, grilled with a light amount of sauce, not as spicy as I was expecting. Quarter chicken was was grilled with honey garlic sauce. The onion rings seemed like the frozen variety. We enjoyed it all, even the house made cole slaw which didn’t have the creamy dressing I prefer. Spoke with one of the owners, a local couple. They both have years of experience in chain restaurants and pizza places. They seem to have built their business model by taking the best from their experience and added the passion of working for yourself. Sound like success. Like a said, it’s a small menu but plenty of food at reasonable prices. I have found my close to home supplier for my rib addiction. They also have a smokin’ meal deal that we’ll have to try.

Well done… Amazing food at an amazing price. Not to mention the service was great. Not a typical«fastfood» spot but it is fast and there is food. :)

First time there and boy was it good food. EXTREMELY kind and friendly staff, the service was I would say one of the best I’ve had in Halifax and the food was beyond good. Will totally go back soon for another bite

Fast service, friendly staff, similar pricing to the gourmet burger shops that are common now. Lots of options: grilled sandwiches, chicken, ribs, wraps. Had the poutine and grilled chicken club — both were excellent. Especially the poutine. They don’t fry in peanut oil and they have gluten free options if that is important to you. Big plus to me was that they are a local business.

Came here a couple weeks ago to check out the new place. OTG is at the very end of Highway 111 towards Eastern Shore and used to be where Arby’s was. As soon as I walked in I realized it was very much like Boneheads — which isn’t a good or bad thing — just an observation. The menu was pretty much likes boneheads as well, so if you like that type of southern sweet & spicy kind of food you’ll like this place. I ordered a half rack of ribs and the waffle fries. The ribs were okay, nothing too special — I still prefer the ones at Boneheads(so good!) so this was okay. The waffle fries might not have been the best choice, really greasy and I just didn’t like them. Service was super nice though and the staff was really helpful on different menu items. Not sure if that’s enough to have me go back again though.

So it tried off the grill for the second time. My first visit was a little disappointing but I’ll give them a pass as they had just opened. Very clean establishment upon entry, great customer service. I ordered a Cobb salad with chicken while my friend order a guacamole club. Cobb salad was very fresh, with nice chunks of blue cheese, fresh egg and lettuce. The dressing was negligible and I was confused to why they would dress the chicken In what I thought was franks red hot. My mate had the club with waffle fries, and I believe it was done under a panini press– very tasty indeed he said. Pros: a very clean well maintained place where the owner/manager can be seen wiping tables continuously. Real silverware. A venerable option in the woodside culinary desert. Sorry cult of cheese curds. Franks red hot, hickory BBQ sauce and ketchup in industrial sized dispensers for all to revel in. A good selection and good value. Real ice tea They bring your food to the table Nice décor Cons: Salads are served in a clamshell style plastic container. If you eat in, you are forced to throw it in the garbage as they have one of those dedicated pop can recycling bins. Kudos to the owners– I saw a couple families there and there is ample space for all. They have a drive thru, which offers full chickens. I was saddened at my first chicken leg meal there as it was shockingly small, so I’ll give it another go. The former Arby’s should have a fine career in the«Dartmouth Gate» area. They also circulate flyers with specials if you live In the area. Nice work team off the grill.

We were going to go to Cheese Curds, when my friend said she wanted to try this place out instead. We shrugged out shoulders, and we were off to Off The Grill. Having never been there before, I wasn’t sure what to expect from the menu. Its all chicken or ribs. Awesome! First impressions as I walk in the door, this place is clean! It was 4pm, so there weren’t many customers, just a few people waiting for take-out. For the menu, they do ¼, ½, whole, and two leg chicken dinners. ½ and full racks of ribs. BBQ chicken burgers, wraps, wings, and panini’s. Everything came with coleslaw, but it wasn’t standard ‘slaw, as it had a few slices of bell pepper in it, along with some kind of seed dashed on top. Side choices were fries, sweet potato fries, waffle fries, salad’s and poutine. We ended up getting the BBQ chicken sandwich, ¼ chicken dinner, a half rack of ribs and a pound of wings, and a kids meal(a grilled cheese sandwich on 12 grain bread). Everything was fantastic, and we all left full. I’ll be back.

If you’re looking for a fast delicious meal this is it. I ordered the chicken and rib combo with onion rings on the side. The ribs were the best I’ve ever had at a restaurant and my wife, who is a huge rib fan, agreed. The ribs seemed to be all meat as I didn’t find any fat or gristle on mine and they were huge. I ordered the BBQ hot sauce on mine and it was delicious but I didn’t find it spicy. The chicken was how I imagine Swiss Challet wishes there’s was. It was juicy and full of flavor. I also loved the onion rings and fries.(I stole a few of my wife’s) As for the environment, the place was incredibly clean and you can see right into the kitchen which was well ordered and clean. The washrooms were very spacious and clean as well. We had several employees come around as they were serving or cleaning to check on us and they were all very friendly and seemed to genuinely enjoy working there. On the whole it was a fast and very satisfying experience. We will be back.

Late getting home again tonight, I wanted to grab a quick bite that was somewhat healthy so we decided to give Off the Grill a second try. I was much more impressed this time. First of all the kid on the cash was so darned sweet and helpful I had to give him an extra tip on the way out. Actually, I found the staff very nice and well informed. They had a lot of pride in the place and it showed. One of the owners was milling about and was also very nice. He kept checking on us and I really appreciated that. I decided to go for the BBQ Chicken Sandwich again. My daughter and I asked if it was white meat, the owner informed it was about a 60⁄40 white to dark meat mix. I thought that sounded okay so I went with it. The owner offered several times to remake the sandwich if we didn’t like it. It was just as flavourful this time. A little messy which is kind of a good sign because really isn’t all the flavour in the messy parts anyway? I liked the multigrain bun. I opted for the Caesar salad. Not sure if the dressing was house made, but it featured shaved parmesan and real bacon bits. My daughter opted for the fries, still not fresh cut but oh well, no complaints for the price. I like this place. It’s bright and clean. And I like that this place is such a great value. To feed the two of us for about $ 20 bucks is not bad at all. About 6.99 for a very filling sandwich and 3 bucks to make it a combo with a few options to choose from as a side. I snapped a photo this time, which I will upload later. If your in the Dartmouth Woodside area and are in the mood for some chicken or ribs, definitely hit these guys up. I think this might become a new go to for a decent meal that won’t break the bank.
