I love Pier 1 Imports. I could spend my nest egg in this store buying stuff to prettify my house(I just can’t justify it). Here’s where it loses cool points for me: In the ten minutes I was in the store, I was asked if I was ‘okay’ no fewer than five times. Three of those were by the same employee(«You’re still okay?»). I would love to have stayed to wander about in the kitsch, but I felt smothered by the ‘customer service’(perhaps harassment would be a better word?).

Here’s what I don’t understand about home décor stores: there is a lot of junk that I can’t foresee anyone wanting. Yet there are tons and tons of products in this store that I cannot fathom being in anyone’s home. Maybe someone with better taste can make these items work but I’d be hard pressed to imagine a whole home fully decorated by Pier 1. Having said that, there are many unique items(in both the good and bad definition of «unique») in this store. If you choose wisely, you can find some fun and and interesting objects both for your own home or as gifts. Be prepared for helpful staff. Overly helpful. As in «they will hunt you down wherever you go in the store» helpful. Which some people might appreciate but I do not.
