Great place to stay; clean, comfortable beds, a cool little bar, a decent free breakfast, and a working gym. The hotel even permits pets and is flexible about its pet policy, within reason. I stay here every time I’m down from Cape Breton, and I’m always happy to check in.

Pros: — close to downtown — easy to get to — good food — breakfast buffet is good — close to shopping — pool — comfy bed which was clean when covers downturned — quiet — unlike many newer hotels which are noisy Cons: — outdated décor(1980s dusty rose/green/blue) with tired, chipped furniture, drywall holes, faded furniture — whirlpool water looks questionable Thought I would try this place while my hardwood floors were getting a refresh back at the house. For $ 140 a king bed and breakfast buffet, not bad. So the place is a bit rough looking. Hotel management really needs to consider an update here. In this area, there is also a brand new Hampton Inn and Best Western, at the same rate with same amenities. The place is geared toward families, clearly — lots of little ones enjoying the pool. But there is no supervision. Well yeah there are lifeguards but they are busy texting their friends and they are not watching the kids. Kids going down the slide one after the other, it is dangerous. And the whirlpool is nice, but it wasn’t until after the timer ran out on the jets did I realize that there are all kinds of little floaties in the water. Time for a draining and refilling, I would say. So management, you look after that stuff, and you will get a fan here.

For over 200 $ a night I expect more then a stained bath with a terrible shower head, an unrenovated room with 30 year old furniture, I couldn’t eat room service I ordered and had to go out, I can go on …

I attend a monthly networking lunch at the Ramada. I used to always get the Pasta Bar(Fridays at lunch), which is so awesome, but because it is so filling and makes me want to curl up for a nap, I now order from the menu instead. The menu changes occasionally and so far I have enjoyed everything I have tried. The staff is super friendly and the service has always been great too. I have also attended many corporate functions at the Ramada which have included sit down meals, lunches, and buffets. They never disappoint and I highly recommend them for any corporate or networking event.

Now that it has been a full week since the wedding and I have(more or less) stopped bouncing around and blathering like a crazy person about HOWEXCITEDIAMTOBEMARRIEDTOMYSWEETIEOHMYGOD!!!, I am relatively calm enough to begin this update with only minimal outbursts of crazy. So here we go. I’m giving the Ramada an extra star because, well, the wedding day was just that fabulous. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful with us and the guests, and they were right on top of things the entire time. It poured with rain(which I’m told is good luck on your wedding day, incidently.) and we thought we might not be able to get any outside photos taken. However, they have a little garden area in the parking lot that’s covered by an awning, so we still managed to get some great shots! And when another wedding party’s two limos pulled up beside us, we may also have co-opted those as a background for pictures, but that’s another story! At the reception our guests could not stop raving about the food in particular(we had a buffett), many saying it was the best tasting food they had ever had at a wedding. As I mentioned in a previous review, the price for all of this was fantastic as well. We paid just over $ 2700 for everything, the food, bar service, two separate conference rooms for the ceremony and the reception, etc. They even threw in the presidential suite for the night, which was breathtaking, and at least 3 times the size of our apartment(what? I’m easily impressed…). To top the evening off with a really nice touch, when we got up to the room at the end of the night there was a bottle of sparkling wine and a large plate of chocolate-dipped strawberries waiting for us. Not too shabby. OHMYGODITWASSOGREATIWISHICOULDGETMARRIEDEVERYDAYITWASSOPERFECTI’MSOHAPPYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYY!!! Ahem…er, yes. Fabulous, awesome, couldn’-have-been-better experience. I would absolutely recommend the Ramada to anyone looking for a venue for their upcoming nuptials. And with that, I think I’m going to go now before I have any more random outbursts about how WONDERFULLYAWESOMEANDSPECTACULARTHEDAYWAS. Oh god, I can’t make it stop…

The staff is incredible. Happy and joyful even at 3am, when your the only other soul in the lobby. It’s a pretty good hotel if your in the city for one night, and you don’t mind that you are in the middle of an industrial park. It’s a good hotel to stay at when your in Halifax on business for one day, but, if you plan to stay longer and enjoy the city … this might not be the right place for you. ‘ All in all, mah.
