I booked Debra for my bridal makeup. I choose her for her airbrush expertise which is not an easy thing to find in calgary especially booking a popular date without a lot of advance notice. I find this review difficult to rate because I LOVED my trial. She listened and the work was just amazing and better than I imagined. She ended up doing my face in halves so I had two looks, Although l preferred one, I would have been happy with either. Why 2 stars? Well, Debra didn’t follow anything we set out together in the trial. I wanted a natural but bridal look that would show up on film. I got dark and dramatic smokey eyes on my day of makeup. I’m so upset I didn’t see the makeup happening in a mirror like during my trial in her studio because even her attempt to lighten it didn’t do much because everything was done and that’s the first things she does so it’s really tough to go back with a deadline and all. After some fighting off tears and reassurance it looked good and would look much lighter on camera I went about my day. However, I burst into tears when I first got my wedding photos back because the makeup was still so very dark. I’m VERY fair in a light dress and all you see is black eyes. Some smokey eyes make my blue eyes just pop but that didn’t happen in my photos unless they were close ups. In full length or group shots have black smudges where my eyes are. The also make my eyes look closer together than they already are(something I mentioned I wanted to correct not enhance in my look). I can tell she has mad skills but when it counted, Debra let me down. I majorly regret the trail because not only did I waste the money and time involved in getting it, but I now have a selfie on my phone that looks nicer than my wedding photos. Luckily I have photoshop and skills enough to lighten things up enough to look like it SHOULD have. After paying $ 120 for day of makeup to not have to worry about it — sigh!
