Pretty good sushi. Best sushi place in tsawwassen is my personal opinion. Whenever we want sushi we always go there.

Well, it was sushi, so there’s that. I ordered take-out, just an assorted tempura and a california roll, nothing extravagant, but I was stunned to find they were quite expensive! For two things it came to nearly 16 $. The tempura, though still crunchy and hot, was very bland. The prawn was sort of chewy on the inside too, like it was a little underdone. The sushi wasn’t particularly fresh or remarkable– indeed, I thought there wasn’t enough cucumber or avocado. The décor of the place might be nice, but with two other great sushi places in the area, I would give Eko-Ya a pass.

This is my favourite place to take my mom for a nice dinner. The staff(Korean) are super friendly and accomodating. The ambiance is casual and the décor is authentically Japanese. I usually order the dinner combo which consist of miso soup(bland), choice of sunomono salad(sadly no shrimps) or dumpling, california roll(quite good), small veggie and prawn tempura(perhaps the best I’ve tasted — batter is light and crispy and cooked perfectly) and your choice of chicken, pork, beef and ginger beef terriyaki(i usually order the ginger beef). Price is reasonable and portions are good to satisfy a hungry person. I’m still in search of authentic chicken terriyaki that served with the skin(crispy). My mom loves their prawn tempura and california roll. All in all a very nice, clean and affordable place!

One of the lowest quality sushi I’ve had. The place is very well designed, beautiful traditional décor. Staff is friendly. The quality of the food is a definate let down. Its also a bit overpriced and the portions are smaller than some of my other favourite spots. They even charge you a $ 1.50 for green tea. If you’re in the area, go to Nikko sushi instead.

The food is good and the prices are reasonable. They have specials all the time, so even if you go here a lot you can get something new… Of course, you rarely have to do that because they have such a comprehensive menu in the first place!

Not the best Japanese restaurant in the area, but the food is acceptable. I’ve had two different dinner boxes and enjoyed them. Service can be slow if the restaurant starts to fill up. Wine selection is poor.

Sashimi lunch combo is fantastic. Great service, great suburban sushi. We will be back and will leave with a take out menu. Thanks!

When Edo Ya Sushi opened up a while ago, I decided to check it out with a friend. It was about 7:30 in the evening on a Monday or Tuesday, so it was pretty dead, there were all of two other tables already seated and eating. When we went in, we were impressed with the nice décor. The hostess came up to us, greeted us, we saw the nice booths they had along the side of the restaurant and we asked if we could sit there. The hostess told us no, because it’s «3 people or more only». This was my first bad impression of the place, because having worked in restaurants I learned if the customer wants to sit somewhere specific, you let them, and it should be no problem at all if it isn’t busy. Some other things I learned that night: They charge for green tea. They just plopped a tea bag in a cup for each of us. The rolls were not very well made — falling apart, loose, and they jam packed them full of fillers like cucumber and lettuce. The rolls were also mediocre at best, I’ve been to quite a few sushi restaurants and this one did not have anything that stood out when it came to taste. They have a «call» button for the waitress. I find this ridiculous. I’m in your restaurant, you are serving me, why should I have to call you over to my table when you should come over and check on me? The waitress never even came over unless we called her. That was my first impression of Edo Ya and I decided to never go there again, as Maguro has much better sushi. Then the other night Maguro was closed when a group of friends(one of them being the same friend who came with me originally) and I needed our sushi fix. We decided to give Edo Ya another try after about a year, hoping the service would be better. Well we were completely wrong. We walked in just as another group of people walked in behind us. We could see there was only one waitress working, and another lady working the register. The waitress completely avoided eye contact with us as she was walking around the whole restaurant helping the seated tables. After about 10 minutes of standing around we were getting irritated at being ignored, the waitress comes up directly to the group behind us, asks if they had a reservation, which they did, seats them and continues to ignore us. I had called earlier and asked if they were open, and the lady on the other line did not mention to me that I needed a reservation to be acknowledged. After waiting yet another 5 minutes with no notice of our existence, we left and went to Oki Doki Sushi in Ladner, where as it happens the waitress greeted us as we were walking in the door and sat us down within seconds. I understand it was busy that night, we could see it, but there were also open tables that they could have sat us in, or the waitress could at least have come up, acknowledged us, and told us she would get to us as soon as possible or it would be a 15 – 20 minute wait. I found this service to be absolutely appalling and now I feel my original decision to avoid this place was correct.
