The best sushi in Ladner! Awesome service, take out is always packed up and ready on time. High quality sushi at a good price. Restaurant is nice, clean, busy but with a fun vibe. Highly recommended!

Sushi rolls were good. Service sucked. I had a salmon avocado roll, yam avocado roll and agedashi tofu. Husband had Alaska roll volcano roll and ebi bites. All tasted good but service was horrible. Was busy but there were 4 servers, I asked for spicy mayo on the side and got teriyaki sauce on top of the roll. They didn’t ask what we wanted to drink and when I asked for hot water and husband asked for water we got a look. Will be back again, maybe…

Maguro is one of my favorite sushi restaurants in the lower mainland and surprisingly, it’s in Ladner! Who would have thought… For $ 22, I get the same thing every time: –Crunch tuna sashimi(the sauce: this stuff is as addictive as crack) –3 pc salmon nigiri –Gomae(the dressing they use is the best I’ve ever had) –Avocado cone(because who doesn’t love an avocado cone?!) Service is prompt, but if you are eating with a group or order several items like I do, the food will all come out sporadically. Sometimes, 2 or 3 people will almost be finished their food while the other 2 at the table are only just receiving their meals. This is definitely something they could improve on. The bad news is, this restaurant is really close to work so I tend to go several times a week. I probably spend $ 100/week on sushi at this rate. If I die of mercury poisoning, at least I’ll do it eating the tuna crunch sauce??? **Note: Maguro only serves wild fish.

Prices have steadily risen, but unfortunately quality has deteriorated as well. Combo lunch is a huge disappointment now with the oily, over battered tempura, sometimes too salty miso soup and dry and tasteless chicken teriyaki. Man, these guys are lucky because they have no competition in Ladner — so they still pack it in. Luckily I moved — so I don’t frequent this place anymore.

The food was mediocre at best. Presentation was lacking. Food quality equivalent to that of AYCE sushi places. This place is a last resort place to go…

Small portions and not the friendliest service. Chicken was tough and tasteless, another Ladner let down.

Great taste and presentation. Fast and friendly service. Only complaint… Portions too large! Plan to have leftovers unless really hungry or you order slightly less than usual. Worth the trip from Edmonton.

I have given this place numerous chances. Every time, without fail, my order is wrong. I specify my order on the phone and repeat it multiple times, and they still manage to get it wrong. Recently I paid extra to have something substituted in the roll. What I paid for, I did not get. They said they would credit me the amount that I paid extra for that substitute(not the entire roll even though I could not eat it). When I ordered take out the next time, I reminded them there was credit on my account. I ordered the same thing, repeated my order multiple times on the phone, and once again, they screwed up my order and I can’t have it. You would think that when you point out that a mistake was made the last time you were there, that they would be extra careful — this was not the case. The lady on the phone(the same lady that is always there), was short and impolite, and kept trying to hang up as I was trying to specify my order. I won’t waste my money anymore, and will give my business to someone who isn’t cutting me off over the phone and actually gets my order right. Save your money, and don’t support such poor service.

For a long time I had to sit back and watch as the quality of Maguro slowly eroded away into yet another generic and bland sushi restaurant. What really made Maguro unique in its heyday was a creative team of chefs who brought exciting and strange things to their menu and, in turn, opened up a lot of small-town folk to a unique dining experience. The first time I ever tried a ~*~fancy weird sushi roll~*~ was at Maguro almost 10 years ago! Anyway, since my last review I have been back many times, and I can say that without a doubt, they’ve got their groove back! I am so pleased to see that Maguro is slowly shuffling its way back into my heart as one of my favourite places to eat in Ladner. My only complaint is that the service is as abrupt and cold as usual. It’s by no means rude, but I think it lacks a level of warmth and friendliness that I really appreciate as a customer.

Great sashimi! I’ve tried a lot of sushi places in Vancouver and Seattle areas, and this one definitely is one of the best for the fish IMO. Chirashi bowl was huge. Salmon is wild, not farmed. Some specialty rolls are written on the wall and not in the menu. I was a bit skeptical at first, as Delta isn’t the first place that comes to(my under-informed) mind when I think of sushi. But I’m glad we tried it!

My grandparents live in Ladner and wanted sushi for dinner. We arrived around 5 pm and it was pretty quiet but before we knew it the restaurant was full! We ordered various sushi rolls, udon noodles, chirashi don and tempera to share and my grandparents ordered a bento box to share. I was really impressed with their specialty rolls. I really liked their volcano roll. All of their specialty rolls are listed on the menus on the wall. I recommend ordering a few from there.

Service friendly but the sushi was not that great I thought. I have tasted way better. But I would say average.

Great atmosphere, great food, and great service! Not the cheapest, volcano roll runs at $ 9.95 but it is good. Bento boxes are delicious as well and HUGE portion. I’ve only been twice, but both times the food was great. Ladner’s little gem.

Awesome sushi, horrible rude service. It’s ok I can overlook the service in exchange for great sushi. Lots of unique and tasty special rolls. Dragon roll is my favourite. Always busy so make a reservation.

Walked in at 330pm and there were 3 other tables seated eating, which in Ladner at any sit down restaurant after 2pm is surprising. It was hard to choose what to order as so many rolls sounded good, finally decided on the Woonia, Volcano and caterpillar. They arrived one after another and we’re all equally as delicious! I’ve just come off of a 4 year sushi break(food poisoning from a bad chopped scallop roll) and have been eating my way through the downtown sushi restaurants and this place is probably better than any I’ve had so far!

Hidden Gem Alert! Normally I only visit Delta to go berry picking but through word of mouth I found out about the deliciousness of Maguro Sushi. Normally I do not expect much from restaurants that are part of a strip mall but this place has some wonderful food! PROS: — Quality cuisine that doesn’t suck your wallet dry — Extremely fresh sashimi — Great variety of rolls(every single one I ingested was mouth-watering) — The layout of the place is mostly wood(tables, chairs… etc) which was quite unique and there are many booths for comfortable, private dinners. — Easy to find parking CONS: — Requires a car and a bit of driving time AND passing through the Massey tunnel depending on where you are coming from(watch out for 5 o’clock traffic jams)

The sushi is great here but the service is not. Well, it’s gotten a bit better since the new owner but it’s still below par. I always see the same waitresses, which is great because they come to know you — or at least they would if they made the effort and tried to be friendly. Most of the time this place is packed so they’re very busy, which I understand, but at the same time they won’t refill tea/water or acknowledge you. Once they’ve brought out the initial tea and taken your order it seems they forget about you until it’s time to pay. Even when you stop one and ask for something, you only have about a 50% chance of them remembering it. That said, the sushi is really good. Some of the not-so-common rolls like the Allen roll or even the Crunchy Salmon Roll are fresh and have excellent flavours. I used to frequent this restaurant a lot when I lived in Point Roberts because the other choices were far worse than this place, but now I rarely ever come here simply because I can find other places with the same quality but better service.

grumpy staff. bad service. rice is so chewy that it tastes like it was made a couple of days ago. I asked for a glass of water… I looked @ the bottom of it + there was little bits of rice floating around. nasty! I’ve been there maybe 5 times + every time I’ve been unimpressed. mt fugi sushi in ladner is by far, the freshest + has the nicest staff possible.

Pleasantly surprised by this sushi spot in the burbs! It was packed for dinner — a lot more kids than I’m used to in a Japanese restaurant, likely because of the location. Definitely not the best in BC, but it’s A-OK. It’s nice that they have wild salmon here and they have the mix of sushi, sashimi, rice dishes and noodles. Prices are reasonable, about $ 2/piece for sushi and you can get a variety of platters. Combo boxes are about $ 14 and up and are very filling. Overall the sushi was fine — food comes quickly and service is OK. I’m probably a bit picky, but the tempura coating could be a touch lighter and some of the fish was too«soft», particularly the tuna. Unagi was OK but didn’t melt in my mouth. California rolls had less mayo than most. Gyoza is OK. The fish selection is basic — none of the more exotic fishes here… the menu is fairly westernized. I was pleasantly surprised since I wasn’t expecting much given the Ladner location. But if you’re out in this neck of the woods and craving sushi like I was, it’s a safe stop! (Accepts credit cards but no Amex).
