Great dinner. You can customize your menu. Great and nice place. They have good prices and awesome waitress

The BEST poutine and deep fried pickles! I’ve been to 1stRND a handful of times now and I have never been disappointed. The service can be a little slow but it’s definitely worth the wait once you dig in to the incredible eats!

This is the benchmark place for burgers, wings and beer. If your sports minded, even better! A definite guilty pleasure. The waitresses are generally gorgeous and the service is great! Despite being pricey, I would give this place 5 stars but theres always wayyy too many dude bros. Certainly worth a visit.

Thirty minute wait for a table on a Saturday of a long weekend — but really worth it. Clean environment, which is good because it’s fairly new. TV screens visible from all angles. Fun and casual atmosphere. Washrooms are upstairs so not entirely accessible. If you’re a burger fan you will enjoy a variety of burgers already on the menu OR build your own. My hubby built his own, loved it and had a side of cactus fries. Endless choices for chicken wings. I couldn’t decide so I order d the fish tacos; they were nice and light and great tasting. Not too much sauce and the tortilla wasn’t super thick. Also enjoyed a yummy Grapefruit League beer cocktail. Looked like there were 20+ choices for beer on tap. Overall pretty impressed.

Always excellent service by servers and managers. Food is always delightful. Would recommend as an alternative to Canadian Brewhouse or Boston Pizza Lounge. The wings are the bomb!

I work in the mall part time, so I occasionally stop by Bourbon Street with coworkers for a couple drinks after our shifts. We came to 1st Rnd because we were craving poutine and heard it was good here(it was alright, haha). The beer selection is decent. We also had the nachos which were quite large– perfect for sharing among 4 ladies. We had a few beers and overall the experience was good. This is a sports bar, and it looks and feels like a sports bar. There are tons of tables so I’ve never seen too long of a wait to get in, making it perfect for dropping by for a pint and pub fare. I’m not sure I would hang out here with my girls on the regular though… it’s a bit sporty for me! Probably a good place to meet other people who love sports though!(*cough* –men– *cough* amiright ladies?!)

You might have learned by now that I’m not a fan of eating in loud places, as I particularly like enjoying my company as well as my food. However, despite its«loud-ness»,(which is of course expected for a Sports Bar) 1STRND, is getting five stars from me! We ate here for the first time last Saturday, and I’m thrilled that the old(Hooters) is gone and the new is here! The menu is typical of pub food — lots of fried items — a long list of burger options — and a gigantic selection of beers on tap. We had a difficult time deciding, as my heart was set on fried pickles and I was eyeing up golf-ball-sized fried macaroni and cheese… in addition to a burger.(Hey, I’m pregnant!) But alas we went for both appetizers and each ordered a burger with fries(or in my case, tater-tots). It was not a «light» meal by any stretch, but unlike the nearby Sherlock Holmes, the food tasted fresh and was cooked to perfection.(Not to mention the bright atmosphere is much better than the«dark creepy basement» feeling of the aforementioned establishment.) I all-but-inhaled the fried pickles. As a southern girl I’ve had them on numerous occasions but these are honestly the best that I’ve ever had! Since I didn’t do so well with sharing them, I did let my husband have the 3rd of 5 «Golf Balls». However, these two appetizers were so good, I could imagine heading back for them alone! The burger was decent(I went simple — Bacon Cheeseburger without the onions) but by that point I could only eat half. The tater-tots were cooked to perfection and despite being full, I couldn’t help eating just a few more out of the giant bucket of them. They were a good reason to indulge in a few hours of shopping afterwards to burn off the calories :) While we don’t regularly eat at West Edmonton Mall when we’re there, I can see this being a restaurant of choice in the occasion that we do. Although, I think I’ll avoid it if the Oilers are playing!

I feel a little mixed about this place. Friend and I wanted some drinks and a snack after a movie. I had never been to 1st Rnd but she had. She said it was good so we went. I had a Caesar. While tasty with quite a bit of zing, I was expecting more. It looked quite boring, and had no little«treats» in it. Not even a stick of celery. But like I said, it was tasty. My friend recommended that we get the soft pretzels, and the mac and cheese golf balls. I’m really not one to say no to either of those items, so they were promptly ordered. The server seemed bored and distant. Didn’t offer me another drink, and the food took a bit of time to come out. It wasn’t overly busy, as it was a Monday evening, but it felt like we were a burden. I am still curious about the Build A Burger. I want to bring my husband one day to try it out. Might check out the other location in Oliver Square though(closer to home). Feeling mixed, but coming back is not off the table.

Decided to stop in here after a couple hours of hardcore shopping. Lots of football games parking so it’s a bit loud but it was managable. I had the«Bronx Bomber» burger. It’s a party with pastrami, sauerkraut, pickles, etc. on it. It was really good. The patty is fried, not grilled, so it had the nice crunchy caramelized edges. The pretzel bun was one of the best I’ve ever had. I opted for the $ 3 upgrade to poutine on the side and was not disappointed. It was hot, salty, cheesy, and gravy was pretty decent. If I can stand the crowds or parking issues at West Edmonton Mall again, I will be back here to watch football again!

I’d say it could be 5 stars if the very young staff gave a care. Pretty nice, but not truly present. Seated on a busy Saturday in under 5 minutes. The food was really good. No complaints. It came in a timely manner. We were well attended to. Beers were $ 6.50-$ 8.00. Not bad selection. The menu items have quirky names like Ball Park Pretzels, Fenway Park corn dogs, Tailgate Party Platter, Goal Tenders, Talylor Hall Burget. I always thought I hated deep fried pickles until I tasted theirs. Nicely done. GREAT poutine, but this is a «build your own burger» sort of place. Huge burgers. 5 kinds of fries to choose from. Soups and sides looked good. Condiment caddy was not supplied with enough utensils. Of course there are sports playing on the big screens. Duh. The bathrooms are clean and well stocked.

After spending a few hours shopping in the mall 1st Round is a fantastic place to stop for a much needed bite to eat. I opted for the Asian Lettuce Wraps from the starter menu. The iceberg lettuce was crisp and fresh and the filler was perfectly seasoned. My husband built his own burger and added sweet potato fries. They even offer a gluten free bun. Our friends had some super tasty, very meaty wings(available in many many different flavours). The final order at our table was the fish tacos. For a starter these guys were huge and very good. All told I love coming here to eat, the atmosphere and staff are fantastic. Can’t wait to come again.

Stopped in today for lunch following Edmonton’s Coprate Challenge — Unknown Challenge with my team before the medal presentations. It’s located on Bourbon Street in West Edmonton Mall. Truthfully, my only probem with the restaurant is that everything looks so good! I just didn’t have enough room to try everything I wanted! We were seated promptly, and tge team there were so friendly, joking with us and the competing team next to us about throw downs and fights. I had a hard time trying to choose what to eat. So many tasty options! I was eyeing The Heat and The Mac & Cheese burgers, going back and forth. Finally, I gave up on choosing and went with the best of both worlds with a Build Your Own Burger($ 11). I added jalapeños, lettuce and tomato to a grilled chicken burger and what they call a mac and cheese patty(+$ 2.50) on a pretzel bun and garlic parmigian sauce and a side of tater tots. I was iffy about the value of an extra $ 2.50, but splurged. I also split an order of pretzels with a friend, which turned out to be my undoing. A tasty, bad/awesome life decision. The food came out quickly and 100% correct. It was hot, and fresh. The mac & cheese patty was MASSIVE! Well worth the extra cost if you want to go that direction with things! You get tons of tots and a zesty dip to go with them. The pretzels were tasty, salted and fresh, with a beer cheese dip that went perfectly. I couldn’t finish more than a quarter of the pretzel, not because I didn’t want to, but because I couldn’t shove any more good in me! Luckily my team was there to back me up. The leftover pretzel and dip disappeared quickly! I’m not much of a sports fan, but even I enjoyed watching the Jays play on the massive screen. The sound wasn’t too loud. You could hear everything, but you weren’t left yelling over the din. The place was full and you could still talk easily. I wouldn’t hesitate to bring my friends there when we’re shopping in the mall.

This places gets a «meh» for sure. I think that they’re lucky to be open in such a busy spot because it means that they’ll get business no matter what. I went here with my boyfriend before work and specifically told the hostess that we needed to be out in 1.5 hours. She said sure, and that it wasn’t a crazy request. I didn’t believe it was too much to ask either but I didn’t want to be strapped for time. She told me that food and service is usually faster than that and I should be fine. OK. We decided to sit and try it out. We didn’t get any service for about 15 minutes, by that time though we were ready to order both drinks and food in an effort to save time. Waitress seemed fine with that, so we ordered both. My boyfriend got the Bronx burger and I got chipotle mango and whiskey BBQ wings. About 20 minutes later I stopped our server and asked where our drinks were! She said something like oh I got distracted with your food order and forgot. We finally got our drinks. Then after about an hour we get our food. So great, we finally got our food, but now we are rushing to get the hell out of there. The Burger and Whiskey BBQ wings were decent! The chipotle mango wings were disgusting, I do not recommend those. I do however, recommend checking out the cool selections of burgers. They look really interesting and delicious. I feel like I should have ordered one of those instead of wings. It was time for us to go and I didn’t finish my wings but I didn’t want to take them home either. I wanted to leave but we couldn’t find our server anywhere. Finally tracked her down and told her we needed the bill immediately, not in 5 minutes, but IMMEDIATELY. She came back with the bill and we settled up and left. 10 minutes past the time I wanted to have left by. I don’t feel like I was trying to rush anyone by wanting to get out within 1.5 hours, but if it wasn’t doable for staff I feel like they should have been upfront with me about the time fame. I would come here again in hopes that they can speed up their service a bit. I know things get busy for people but that was just way too slow. I did enjoy most of the food though and would be interested in trying some other things off the menu! Perhaps I will write a new review once I’ve had a better experience.

I’ve been to 1st rnd three times now and each time wasn’t great. On my first two visits the wings were phenomenal. I had the honey mustard garlic wings and they were absolutely delicious and crispy! My boyfriend had the hottest wings and said they were great also. On our second visit he had the buffalo wings and said the wings were good, but he Buffalo sauce just tasted like any ordinary hot sauce. The wings are truly the reason I returned in-spite of the other downfalls. The first time I went the drinks tastes watered down and you could barely taste the alcohol in the hi-balls. I had vodka soda, so you can usually taste whether or not there is alcohol in the drink. This was the case with the drinks all 3 time I’ve been. The service on all three occasions was terrible also; the service was very slow and the servers didn’t seem to know a lot about the menu etc. On my third visit the wings were lukewarm in the middle and fridge cold on the ends. I wouldn’t recommend this place for drinks or service. The wings are generally good, but not consistent. I’ll likely return for only wings and give it one last shot!, because when they were good, they were REALLY good. :)

Went on a quiet Monday night. Ordered a ‘make your own burger’, which was good. Nothing to write home about, but served the purpose. Issue? My Stella came, and it seemed like a small glass(I usually drink Stella, you notice…). Looked at it, and it’s a 400ml glass(says so on the side). That explains it being small. BUT, it’s in the beer menu as a 500ml beer with a 500ml price. I mentioned it to the server, not in a complaining way I feel, and she said she’d tell the manager. Ate our meal, bill came, Stella is on the bill. And the manager hadn’t come and said anything to us. Weird. I went to the washroom and happened to walk passed what looked like the manager. I spoke to him and told him, and he didn’t really seem too bothered. Said he’d tell the owners. No attempt at ‘making it right’ or anything. And our server hadn’t spoken to him about it. Very surprised by the lack of caring from the manager, especially as it wasn’t even an opinion issue(like we just didn’t like their food), but a black and white problem that could technically get them in a lot of trouble. Obviously not a professionally run place

Went in for wings and drinks tonight with a couple friends and over all had a rotten time. The hostess took us to our table and quietly mentioned the specials, and also pointed out an $ 11 build-your-own burger option if we «don’t like anything on the menu». Our cocktails arrived quickly but were very watered down and the beer was warm so we didn’t order another round. Two of us also ordered the wings– one the honey-mustard garlic and the other spicy teriyaki and neither had any trace of sauce on them. The server brought our bills immediately after and was very aloof and rushed about taking our payments. I would not return to this joint.

Like their tag line says, this is a great place for burgers, beer, and sports. Ultimately this is a sports bar/restaurant, so if you’re needing to be in a quiet, intimate setting it need to be waited on hand and foot every minute, choose a different establishment. If you’re looking for a good burger, beer, and want to catch the game, this is a great place!!! Their burgers are amazing! We both chose the build your own burger and the choices were fairly priced and the selection wasn’t too shabby! They probably had the best buns I’ve had in a long time and their burger patty was grilled perfectly! I find myself quite a picky burger critic as I can’t stand even a slightly dry patty so I was pleasantly surprised at how wonderful they were here. They have a great selection of beers and if beers aren’t your thing, they do have a generous drink menu you can choose from. The server never hovered and I think this has to do with the volume in the place. It is definitely louder than your average restaurant but that is because they have ginormous TVs playing the days live games. I’m assuming that there’s always some sort of game on even if it wasn’t hockey. I want to say that I love that she never hovered. She was there to refill our waters and if we needed anything she was definitely accessible. The food got to us in a timely manner and the overall experience was wonderful. It’s not a good place for a quiet conversation but I’ll most definitely be back for their burgers soon!

A friend and I stopped in for a quick drink and an appy before we had to be a concert. We were seated quickly by a friendly(pair!) of servers. My friend is newly pregnant so sadly she could not join me for a drink, but the server was pleased to offer a non-alcoholic beer or cocktail which ended up being perfect for her :) (I had a cider!) My friend ordered their build-your-own burger option, checking off the type of bun, condiments and toppings and I tried the chicken wings. Our food took quite a long time to come out — which I think was unusual because the manager, or a senior staff member came out and was sure to check in with us and apologize for the delay. The meals eventually showed up and were quite delicious. It’s not a great place for kids(not sure if kids are even allowed?) and it’s quite lounge as it’s a sports bar type places, but the servers were lovely, albeit a bit under-experienced — but we still enjoyed our quick visit.

A friend and I decided to check this place out on a Friday night and didn’t have the greatest experience. First of all it is extremely loud in here to the point that I was looking at the tables with children at them wondering how parents could feel comfortable subjecting their little ones ear drums to such an assault. While we are on the topic of families I have to say the atmosphere in here is kind of odd with it’s mix of beer drinking sports fans and tables with young families. We got an order of nachos as well as an order of wings to split between the two of us. The wings were delicious as they had been cooked and sauced perfectly but I was really disappointed with the nachos. We got them with extra cheese(which costs $ 3.50 f.y.i) but there were still good sized portions of them with no cheese on them whatsoever. They also had a noticeable lack of veggies with the exception of black olives. Oh man there were just sooooo many olives. I was honestly so disappointed with this $ 22.50 poorly prepared plate of nachos that I wanted to send them back but we never saw the waitress again after the food had been dropped off until we were done eating. The service here right from the beginning where we had to wait fifteen minutes just to place a drink order straight to the end where we were offered no refills and weren’t checked on to see if the food even tasted good was atrocious. I won’t spend another dime of my money in this place as there are just so many better options for sit down eating in WEM.

Food was decent and service was also decent. Seemed like one of the more busy restaurants on bourbon street. Lots of interesting burger selections. Fries and tater tots were average. Beer selection was excellent! More than 30 taps! It is very noisy though with the TV volume being as loud as it is. Avoid if you have a headache.
