My wife and I hired Active Pest to kill some ants. .. and lots of them. The ants had mounted an invasion force on our front lawn and side terrace. It was only a matter of time before they launched a full-on offensive into the house. I contacted Amy, the Customer Service Manager at Active Pest about setting up a preliminary strike on the ants. Hit them before they hit us. She promptly returned my solicitations and asked me for a description of the ants — their colour, size, shape, likes and dislikes etc. She was able to quote me a price and set up a service appointment based on my description alone which tells me that they are experienced, efficient, and professional. They were able to squeeze us in promptly for the following morning at 9:00AM. She also filled me in on how long we would have to be away from the property following the procedure. The technician showed up promptly at 9 sharp the next day. After we showed him where the enemy trenches were he explained the extermination process, the chemicals he would be using, and the company’s warranty policy. It was a cloudy, rainy day and he told us that the process might have to be repeated if it rained too heavily. He said if the ants come back within a month there would be no charge for a re-spray. We then paid him and went away for six hours. That was a couple of weeks ago and so far. .. so good. Excellent service and excellent results. Funny story: When I first noticed the problem I reached out to another pest control service. This other service completely ignored my requests for a service quote. I checked them out on Unilocal and I saw that they have a one-star rating. The customer had the same complaint as me — they weren’t returning e-mails or phone calls. For some reason I ended up getting this company mixed up with Active Pest and I fired off an angry e-mail to them about not returning my messages. Imagine my embarrassment when Amy got back to me and politely let me know that I had them confused with somebody else. Oops! I was impressed with how quickly she got back to me and I figured that if they care about their reputation that much, they must provide great service. Next year when The Ants Strike Back we’ll use this company again.
