So… are here tonight… boyfriend liked it, but not me. Not worth the money, even with dessert. Ate at the Sherwood park buffet, and a lot better there. Almost the same food as the lunch menu.

The royale carvery buffet in south Edmonton was a total disappointment. At 25 dollars it should compare to the Mandarin buffet. The carvery is not even close. The food tasted like last week’s leftovers reheated for the 10th time. Everything was old and awful. Do not waste your time and money on this place.

Went for brunch today The food looked delicious n was full It was so so I did like many things but many things tasted odd or needed to be replaced they got cold The server was sweet nice girl They had a waffle machine it was tasty The display of salads was very nice and appealing The Ham and sausage was amazing It was very clean I hated that there were fruit flys all over the fruits and desserts It was completely empty except for one person leaving when I got there It got a little busier after It’s good but not for 20 $ a person If your hungry for buffet it’s passable Seems like edmonton really is bad with buffets I can’t find a great one at all !

Lucky I even give this buffet one star one of the worst buffets I’ve been to the one in Sherwood Park is much better much nicer the last time I was there that all these different foods out but no signs telling you what they were? These type of buffet places that aren’t kept up should be checked by the health board in Alberta!

The food was edible. However for a Chinese buffet, it truly didn’t do it justice. There was a variety of selection. Yet, I do not truly know how long the food was out there. It wasn’t very hot. It’s not an ideal location if you’re looking for better quality food that you know is fresh and hot to your liking.

We came to this restaurant on the Saturday before mother’s day at about 2 pm. There were less than 10 customers in the restaurant. As my party of about 14 people were sitting down, we were informed that there was a mandatory 15% gratuity for a large group that would NOT go to the servers. While I fully understand this for a restaurant where each person orders individually, I found it quite outrageous for a buffet where you serve yourself. We were there well over an hour, and there was never more than another 20 people besides our group(for a restaurant that boasts seating capability for 300), and this mandatory gratuity will definitely influence my decision on returning. The chinese food(sweet and sour, noodles and ginger beef) was quite dry and was covered with massive amounts of sauce. The wonton soup was tasty as you could take as many wontons as you wanted. Others in my party enjoyed the ham that was carved on the spot. The salad bar had about 6 prepared salads(pasta, potato, tomato/cucumber, basic green and a few others) as well as a decent amount of other vegetables, cheeses and dips to add to the salad. The kids loved the chocolate fondue fountain(fruits and marshmellows) and the ice cream bar(soft ice cream with assorted sprinkles to add on). They also had a taco station(taco shells or nacho chips, ground beef, cheese sauce, veggies and salsa) that I never saw at a buffet before, but the kids loved to get chips and cheese. Overall the chinese section was sub par, the salad bar above average, the dessert section was great for kids and the rest of the foods were hit and miss. We split the bill, and my portion was $ 100 for 4 people including drinks. Overall I would give this buffet a 5⁄10 — great if you have a lot of kids coming, but many others in Edmonton are better for adults.

Being new to town, my Dad suggested we head here for dinner since he’s been here a couple times(he’s from Ft.Mac.) I didn’t think twice, and didn’t pre-screen by reading reviews like I normally do, and I’m glad I went. I notice most of the reviews here are from over a year ago, so they’re out-dated now. First impression — walking in it felt clean and modern, being a group of 8 we were greeted and seated within seconds. It smells tasty, and the server was really attentive through-out our meal. The selection was huge, and we arrived as they were bringing out freshly cooked items, so it was perfect timeing all around. Currently they’ve added crab legs to the buffet, yum!.. oh and did I mention there’s a chocolate fountain in the dessert bar? With fresh fruits for dipping too! This place had something for everyone in our party, north american food, asian style food, a salad bar a taco bar and dessert bar. I sampled a bit of everything, just for research purposes of course. and the only thing I wasn’t a huge fan of was the bacon wrapped hot dog thingys. Not my cup of tea, but my 5yr old neices loved them, so again, something for everyone. If you’re looking for a buffet that offers up a selection of more than just deep fried asian-like items, then give this place a try. It was a pleasant surprise and we’ll be visiting it again.

Years ago when I was in town visiting(before I moved here) I went to the Buffet Royale on the south side. I was pretty impressed with the meal. It’s either two reasons: #1) since I’ve never been to a buffet I had nothing to compare it to and thought the quality was fairly good. OR #2) the quality was good back then Fast forward 5 years and I won’t even eat at Buffet Royale. I really don’t see much of a difference between the North and South locations although I find the South has a slightly bigger selection and they update the food a little more often. The north end is terrible! I’ve found the food doesn’t get replenished as quick as it should when it starts to run low and it’s been sitting there for awhile. The actual quality of the food at both places is pretty low. Think cheap ingredients, lack of flavour, etc. My motto is only eat at Buffet Royale if the world has come to an end, you are starving and all other sources of food have dissappeared.

Buffet Royale is definitely amongst the worst buffet’s in the city. There was actually a time a very, very long time ago when this place wasn’t half bad. Now it’s not even close to being good. They offer a buffet that is about $ 20 and for the price they don’t offer very much. The worst part is the food tastes terrible. Everything in the buffet is old, not fresh and terrible quality. It doesn’t even seem like they care to make it half decent. The service was terrible too. Don’t go here.

Buffets on the Southside and of Fort Road. I’ve recently been to the south side location. The worst $ 18 I’d ever spent on a buffet. Poor selection of food. Not very appetizing or tasty. I had to put away the dishes at my table between servings — EVERYTIME. Service really sucks. Avoid.
