Thank goodness there is equilibrium in «home renovation» land :-) So, for anyone that has read some of my «home services» reviews, you will see that there has been QUITE the variety of good, bad and REALLY ugly. I am glad glad to say that this time, thanks to Mr. Caforio, my front porch FINALLY looks more like what I envisioned before our contractor’s «concrete» guy messed up the colour(by not adding it to the stoop, but added it to the connecting walkway and BADLY at that). I found Mr. Caforio of all places, on Kijiji, after having had 2 – 3 who only had one phrase to tell me: «Start over». At some point, I honestly think these other gentlemen saw me(a woman) and figured I would simply panic and decide to «start over» despite asking them all the same question as to saving what we had and perhaps putting exterior tile/slate over it. However, with a 7,000 $ price tag to re-do a front porch(YES, SERIOUSLY), I kept looking and found Cafo Mattone. Mr. Caforio came out and listened to my concern and talked with me about what I wanted to do to save the stoop(and money). He told me to find what I wanted, get it and he would install it so it would blend in well with the existing brick work to the house. The only setback came when I picked the match for the brick and what I picked was not the colour the company gave him. With that, he kindly took that material off the bill since it wasn’t my fault(it was theirs) since what I picked matched exactly what I have on the house. He also explained why that can happen(apparently places that sell brick keep the same samples for many years and the colour of the brick fades, hence why you think you are getting one colour and not the one you picked off the sample). From beginning to end, he was good enough to send me an email pertaining to scheduling, how things were going when I wasn’t in town and also confirmed with me materials needed. At no time did I worry about the work he said he was going to do and the work he did do. I happily walk up our front porch and thank goodness I found him and his company. Now, I only have to decide on the railing so I can send him a photo which he asked if I would do :-)
