Clean, tidy and friendly staff. Lightly fried, tasty cod. Hand cut fresh fries. You wait 15 minutes but it’s worth it in the end. And my boy enjoyed it too.

Went here for lunch today! At our table there was fish & chips, green onion cakes and seafood chowder. The soup is only usually available Fridays, and it will bring me back — it was hot and stayed hot all the way to the bottom, and the small was a generous portion. My lunch companion had the fish & chips, and was equally impressed. Excellent, freshly made — I’d highly recommend it.

Normally when you walk into a once great Fish and Chips place and find new décor, new Asian menu items and new Asian owners, you might be tempted to think this will be your last voyage to Captain Scott’s. Here that would be a mistake. The Fish, the chips the best I have had in a decade! A little pricey like most good fish as chips are these days, but worth every penny!

Mr. Lo has redeemed himself. The food has improved at Captain Scott’s Fish & Chips since my last visit, even if it’s about 20−30% more expensive than it should be. This establishment now comes with my recommendation, but do note that it’s not quite the best of the best when it comes to fish and chips in the Edmonton area.

Good fish and chips. Prices high but that’s normal for fish in Edmonton. Salad is cheap so IMO coleslaw should be included. Owner is very friendly and attentive which keeps me coming back.

This was my first visit and I loved it. The owners were ridiculously friendly and hilarious! The portions were a perfect size and very tasty. I’ll absolutely be back to this newly found neighbourhood gem.

While I cannot vouch for the fish at Captain Scott’s, I can do so for the chips, which are cooked, fresh, not frozen, as an earlier review indicates The fries are cooked english style, which means they’re a bit dense, and less crispy than say, belgian frites, but crispier than the fries served by La Poutine. My pregnant wife was craving french fries, and these satisfied the craving, and then some.

While working in the same area and not really being a fan of fish, I was thrilled to discover that Captain Scott’s offers more unusual items than your standard fishy fare. Though at first I was a little put off by the odd combination of fried fillets and steamed delights, I decided to try my hand at both the British-American and Asian selections on the menu. And I’ve got to say, even if the grilled cheese is ‘surprisingly standard’(c’mon, it’s a grilled cheese sandwich, not expecting miracles or anything). the perfectly dressed coleslaw and intricately flavored soy-butter sauce of the chicken rice bowl keep me coming back! So even if fish isn’t your thing, there is more than one non-traditional reason to go to Captain Scott’s! PS: William is a delightfully nice cook and will be more than happy to accomadate any combinations you may desire!

Visited Captain Scott’s again today for the first time in a few years. We arrived to find that Captain Scott’s has new owners and Asian items have been added to the menu ranging from Dim Sum to Bubble Tea to rice bowls. As with all our Fish ‘n Chip orders for my Best of Fish ‘n Chips List we ordered: 1 order of halibut &1 order of haddock. I’m quite sad to say that the halibut was the worst I have ever had. I’m not sure if it was freezer burned or overlooked or both? But it was tough, chewy, and flavorless. Serious sad face :-( The haddock was decent but we found the batter to be a little overwhelming. We also ordered a side of green onion cakes for our toddler and instead of the fluffy crisp kind they were like doughy pancakes at nearly $ 4 — another sad face. Hubby also wasn’t impressed by the fries — they were soft and a but greasy and came completely unseasoned. Definitely still handout, though. So you might be asking yourself why on earth am I still giving a 3 star review when I we wouldn’t reorder 2 of the 3 items… Well, they were just so darn friendly and personable with our children. It’s kinda funny because as we were leaving my hubby remarked that he would like to come back; however, he noted that he only wants to try their Asian food next time.

Very good fish and chips. Large portions and very reasonable prices. Not quite fresh off the docks of London quality, but definitely one of the best in Edmonton. Atmosphere is plain, but staff is friendly.

We had the lunch special for two — which was a 1 pc fish(supposedly 5 oz of some kind of fish) and chips. The fish was greasy, thin and our guess was talipia. Fries were greasy and soggy. Much better places for fish and chips like Brits. Give this place a miss.
