We used to go to Terwilliger Rec Centre and did not like it there. We Love the Castle Downs YMCA Located:11510153 Avenue. We Love it for Lots of Reasons. We have a Continuous Monthly Family Membership at the Castle Down YMCA for over one year here. The Price for the Family Membership for the Castle Down YMCA is Great. It also includes Free Indoor Playground, Free Play Care(book 48 hours for certain working schedule) and Free Continuous Swimming Lessons for the kids, Free Supervised Mighty Munchkin and Kids Squad certain time on the weekday and weekends too. My kids love going to All the Drop-In Classes and they always have Lots of Fun. Great, friendly staffs. We really appreciate the extra Child Care Help and Services provided here. There are also Free Adults Drop– In Classes included too. Free Locker inside the Change Room with a Membership Card insert, take the locker key. I also really appreciate all the above and more: Including Free Parking, Private Parking for Child Care Parking, And Automatic FREE(CastleDown YMCA) Wifi on-site. There are always 100% Castle Down YMCA Staffs onsite and early for the drop-in programs. I been using the Free Drop in for over a year and there are always staffs for the Kids Drop in Class. All the staffs are knowledgeable, and if they don’t know something they find out for you too. The staffs at the front desk are extremely kind, friendly, and helpful too. The staffs at the Moo’s Juice are great too. Moo’s Juice is a Foods Court with a seating area. Table, and chairs facing the swimming pool. Moo’s juice sells Heathy foods/wrap and smoothies drinks, and chips, coffee, snacks and drinks too. There are free magazine and newspaper too: Avenue and Edmonton Child Magazine you can read too. Love the fact the Castle Down YMCA open 7 Days/Week and open early and close late at night too.

I am so pised about this place no one knows anything. There’s one free drop in program for my kid and no one runs it or knows where it is happening. There not organized the indoor playground is more for toddlers then kids. The pool is no fun. only good for lessons and athletic swim no point in going for fun there’s nothing in there. Waste of money paid for a year never again.

I do like this place. Though it is an older facility the staff are friendly and the equipment is up to date in the fitness area. There are times when the equipment is broken, but they have been really good about getting it repaired as quickly as possible. The music in the fitness centre is never too loud. I like having the option to swim or take classes all in the same building.

This facility is quite disappointing. I have been to William Lutsky facility and I can say with confidence that Castle Downs YMCA is way worse. I am not sure how the budget is divided between facilities but I wonder how the Castle Downs facility can be so poorly maintained. As soon as you enter, the facility has a vibe from the 70s, dirty, outdated and poor. The colour(maroon) screams antiquated. The weight room is dirty un-organized and not well designed. The supervisor of the weight room is an old man that would rather look around and talk to people instead of organizing or cleaning. Even the music in this weight room is old! In all honesty, the facility is close to my home but it is not worth paying almost $ 70 for such a poorly maintained facility. I am cancelling my membership because of that.

This surprising large facility is located on 153 Avenue just east of Castledown’s Road. It’s looks smaller from the outside, but on the inside it has a lot of perks for YMCA members such as workout and cardio equipment, a couple squash courts, 110m track, gym with basketball hoops(a must), a couple of studios and of course the grand-daddy of them a all … a pool. It is a good facility. However, if I were to make a slight critique, I would say that the workout equipment looks old. They could use an up-grade and for me a few key pieces were missing such as an inclined bench with handles for inclined leg raises to work those lower abs and a range of kettle-bells(however, they have some neat medicine with handles which were a nice touch). The change rooms are clean and spacious. The staff friendly and even say things like«have a nice weekend!» I frequent YMCA in Edmonton and Calgary and have never heard anyone say that to me. Impressive. My only other critique would be there appears to be a lack of single, attractive women in their early 30s grunting away to Kylie Monogue in the background. But I can’t blame the facility for not fulfilling a man’s daydream! Enjoyed using this facility!
