Cute shop on 124th street, lots of Scandinavian design items that I love. I was a bit surprised by the higher prices of some of their items as I’ve seen the same items for cheaper in other shops in Alberta. I have been looking for some specific dining chairs and wanted to purchase in Edmonton so that I wouldn’t have to pay for shipping, but I was able to find the exact same chairs from a shop in Toronto to ship them to me(for a cost) and the order was still $ 220.00 cheaper than it was at Dwell. It’s unfortunate I couldn’t buy them here. I would come back to Dwell for smaller home décor items.

The customer service at this store was horrible! Even though the store was completely empty the sales person made no effort to acknowledge us in the store — not even with a hello. The prices were over the top expensive but we found something we liked. When we asked the sales girl a question, she blew us off so we walked out and went to Modler where we found a similar piece for a better price and actually had someone acknowledge us.

Their stuff is modern but overpriced. I was the only one in the shop and the saleslady still would not help me when I needed some advice on the 2nd floor. She just showed me their catalogue and wouldn’t even move off her chair. I was not impressed with the service I received and would not shop here again. I ended up buying something similar online for a cheaper price.

You’ve seen this shop before if you’ve ever visited a metropolitan city. All of the usual suspects when it comes to modern furnishing brands, sold largely by client order. Good luck getting any help if you don’t represent a commercial project, but Dwell is one of the only retailers in town besides 29 Armstrong and Le Belle Arti that offers anything that isn’t coming off a Chinese assembly line.

Dwell Modern is an urbanite’s dream come true. This store is for those who love modern décor and who are fans of clean lines. It is for those who prefer sleek leather couches over bulky fabric ones. It is definitely for those who choose to relax in an ultra modern armchair instead of a La-Z-Boy recliner. The showroom of this glass store will give you an overview of what is in the catalog. In it you will find beautiful, modern, trendy pieces of furniture that look like art. The lines carried by Dwell Modern are created by designers and engineers. This accounts for high prices. Although I didn’t have a chance to buy any furniture from Dwell Modern, I already started saving for a glass coffee table, a couch and Nanimarquina rug. I am 100% sure that once I buy these items, they will last me a lifetime and provide the daily dose of luxury.

Dwell Modern is all my furniture and home décor dreams packed into one very expensive store. Dwell carries high end furniture lines such as Living DIvani, Flou, and Moooi as well as about a hundred others. Their showroom is limited by their space and most of their products are done through special order by catalogue. I purchased a couch from this store last summer and am thrilled with the purchase. Jim was a really big help through the whole process. The couch took 16 weeks to arrive due to being hand made in Italy, but it was so worth it! It is a piece I will have for a lifetime. I frequently check out what is new at Dwell and also see if they happen to be selling any floor models to make room for new stock. They are also starting to carry some knock off lines which are great if you are looking for something that looks like the real thing but at a more affordable price. If you are into sleek, modern lines, fun, creative items and designer furniture and home accents then this is a great place to check out. Or, if you’re like me and have no idea what you are looking at but just enjoy different and well built items you know will last a lifetime, then wander in and Jim will be more than happy to show you anything that might be of interest.
