Service was good, although went there around noon and it was rather quiet. Food was decent(I had the burger), but nothing extraordinary. There are better pub food places in the city to spend your money.

I never knew this place existed until some friends suggested to meet there tonight. We went in on a Sunday at 5pm to a completely empty restaurant. When I say completely empty, I mean nobody including staff was in there. We stood in the lobby for a good 5 minutes before a waitress came inside from smoking with 2 lounge patrons and sat us(she was very polite and seemed a little embarrassed about the smoke thing). Based on the menu,(which doesn’t have pizza on it, so not sure why Unilocal describes it as a pizza establishment), I definitely expected a Smitty’s-style meal(the service and overall atmosphere was pretty on-par with a smittys experience), but was pleasantly surprised to get a nicely presented, and frankly delicious meal. I had the chipotle wrap, hubby had the fish and chips — both quite good and the kids were satisfied with their meals too. The friends we went with are long-time customers and said the brunch is worth checking out as well.

Still ok but used to be MUCH better, tonight we obviously had new servers, shrimp special had tails left on, ribs not the same as last time, inconsistent food quality. Waited 30 min for tab.

I didn’t really enjoy the service and I found the waitress rude. They didn’t get my order right and I found my chicken burger dry BUT my boyfriend enjoyed his burger and fries.

I have only experience on the bar side but this review is really only about the food. Anyway, the food is always really friggin good.. Like the excellent hamburgers that are from fresh made patties. All the menu items I have tried are well above average for a bar to the point where there is sawmill across the street and the steak at Fargos is a good if not better than the sawmill at half the price. Also, if you are a vegetarian there is a decent selection including the Best veggie burger I have ever had. If i lived in the Capilano area I would eat here very often.

Mediocre food. Ok service. The waitress was stuck up and took forever to bring the bill then there were only two tables of people! The salad was just lettuce it was kind of sad.

GREATPOUTINE. If that’s not enough to get you in the door, let me share a few other reasons why I think a humble stripmall joint in a quiet older neighbourhood is worth your consideration. 1) not a bad beer selection, when it’s available that is… Wild Rose brews and Original 16 Copper on draft — me likey! 2) better food than expected — we’re talking better than BPs or Ricki’s or other places that have a family section and a lounge — and some original home-made items which took me by surprise. The poutine was especially good, lovely peppery gravy and actual cheese curds. My boyfriend had two servings! 3) lots of space, comfortable, and overall decent service 4) 2 for 1 steak night — wow, I might just brave the karaōke for that! Not brilliant, but much better than expected. Exceeded my expectations, hence the 4 star rating. If you’re in the neighbourhood, and it’s really slim pickings in the Capilano/Gold Bar area, Fargo’s is one of your better bets. Go for it!

We have been here lots and had good food but today it changed we had the 2 for 1 steak special and it was just good. My steak was not medium rare like I ordered. Over cooked baked potato was cold and my crispy onions were not. Staff was great about and fixed it up.

Love that the bartender remembered what I drink, haven’t been here for awhile. Two for on steak on Tuesday. My steak was cold but fixed quickly, found the Jim beam sauce a bit much next time I will order it with sauce cooked on. Potatoes fully loaded as usual great

I missed the festival of tree’s this year and was extremely disappointed so a friend took me for a beer at Fargos in attempt to cheer me up and im happy to say that it worked wonders! The atmosphere is very much like Cheers where everybody knows your name. I am not from the neighborhood but the waitress still treated us(and everybody for that matter) like we were her best customers. She was extremely friendly and came around on two or three occasions to make sure our drinks were full and the nachos we ordered were tasting good. The nachos were half priced tonight and were a great value considering there is enough on the plate to feed a small family! They did a great job ensuring even topping placement and the salsa and guacamole tasted really fresh. They also use fresh cut jalapeño which I recommend getting on the side as fresh is always much more spicy then the ones out of the jar. Fargos has a cozy neighborhood pub vibe, friendly waitresses, good food, and they even had Stella on tap which is huge for me. If im ever out this way again I will definitely be making a stop off.

I have always been on the fence about Fargos, it is one of those places that I could take or leave, in the past I have had some pretty sketchy meals here not to mention some bad service. However, this Friday myself and some coworkers decided to head there for lunch. Although the service was pretty lax, especially considering the lack of patrons — the food was great. Everyone enjoyed their meals, and I can safely say I will have no problem coming back in the future.

Our waitress was horrible! She kept forgetting our order and us! The place wasn’t even busy!!! I won’t go into a lot of rant on the waitress. She was just not smart, had no common sense, and really should never be in the service industry as she wasn’t skilled. I am not even sure if she truly deserved the .5 cent tip I gave her. Trust me I used to be a cocktail waitress and bartender when I started in the work force back in the day. For me your tip is EARNED, not EXCEPTED! It was 2 for 1 steak night and after the third return of my food to get my steak cooked medium rare, I was not a happy camper! The steak was actually good by the third try, however by than I wasn’t hungry. They also didn’t get my potatoes right, no it wasn’t mashed, no it wasn’t fries, it was baked! At the end of it we were all really disappointed with the service and quality of food. The only nice thing about it was the management did give us 50% off the steak which was already 2 for 1, so for two mediocre meals it was $ 11.00.

The food here is high quality and a reasonable price. I generally order the Fish and Chips and the portion is generous. However, the last time I went I was disappointed by the fact that fries were luke warm and soggy. The service here is questionable at best. I suspect a high turnover rate in staffing, because I have never had the same server twice. Don’t ask any questions because the staff won’t be able to answer them as they are always new. They are nice enough but in general appear undertrained and inexperienced.

We’ve been coming here for a couple of years now and while I agree with other reviewers that the service has been inconsistent in the past year or so the food is usually very good. They have a few amazing meal salads on the menu — smoked salmon, apple avocado and blackened chicken are standouts. Also, their steaks are better than Sawmills and their burgers are juicy. I also think their veggie burger with bruschetta and avocado is to die for.

I went here for brunch this past Sunday and was so pleasantly surprised. The good was amazing all fresh ingredients and the price was comparable to a Smitties, but way better food. I had the Primaveria Omelet and it was sooo yummy. fresh spinach, broccoli, and peppers. Was really tasty. Definitely going back!

It is a bar/restaurant located across the street from the Walmart and Capilano mall in Edmonton’s east side. The restaurant is in the front and the larger bar in the back with TV screens. The bar is glassed off so the restaurant is quiet. Older décor is the only fault for this place. The food is good however, very good! Meals come with a choice of at least 5 sides. I had the quesadilla with a house salad(no head lettuce here… romaine lettuce, tomatos and cucumbers). Salmon with mashed potatoes and veggies was excellent. Other entrees looked good too(steak, burgers, chef salad). Found it to be good value. For lunch, the service was fine. They do have a patio but it faces the parking lot towards the road so not too inviting. New batch of cute servers in the lounge. Happy hour beers very reasonable!

I visit Fargos almost every month for a get together and always on a Tuesday for 2for1 steak dinners. At $ 15 for steak dinner and a drink including tax and tip, it’s great. Nothing spectacular here, but worth it for the deal. The steak dinner comes with a baked potato(or other typical starchy side), deep fried battered onions, and a stale piece of garlic bread. We descend on the restaurant all at once(about 20 of us) so getting our meals always takes a while, but they all generally come out at about the same time.

The focus of this place is clearly the bar with its various TVs set to sports channels. But it is totally closed offed from the rest of the place, so there is no noise in dining area. We went for a quick lunch one day and it was pretty good. I had the Reuben and it was good — nice sauerkraut, good grill marks. Cole slaw was nothing remarkable. My son said the burger was good and he asks to go back whenever we drive by. I will say the wait staff was very friendly and three people asked if we happy with our meal, which is three more than one often gets.

If you’re an out-of-towner-or even a south-ender-headed to an Oilers game, I suggest you head to Fargos for your pre-game drinks and din din then hop their free shuttle on over to Rexall Place. Yes, free shuttle. I popped in with my stepdad to meet my stepbrother for a drink before we headed to the Oilers vs. Wild game last Thursday(they won! I must be good luck ;p). I liked the windows separating the bar from the restaurant. Keeps some of the noise out for those not there for the big screens. The food was pretty good. I had the Jim Beam Peppercorn burger. Watch out, there’s minced jalapenos on that baby… it’s definitely white girl spicy! The service was on par with what I would expect, not over-the-moon fantastic, but friendly and certainly nothing wrong with it. I’d say the shuttle is a definite perk. It’s part of the 4 star rating on this one. And the fact that they carry my favourite beer ever. Yep, you can get yourself a pint of Wraspberry from the Wild Rose Brewery in Calgary here. Woohoo!

My wife and I have been going to Fargo’s for years. We love the Wednesday Wing Night where wings are 35 cents each. The reason I am giving a 3 star and not a four or five star is that the service and food has been inconsistent as of the past year and a half. I feel that they must have changed cooks because in March 2011, the wings were not nearly as good as they used to be. They were dried out and the hot sauce couldn’t get into the wing meat as well as it used to. The lemon pepper wings which used to be another favourite seemed taseless. We also used to get a really awesome veggie platter with green peppers, mushroom, tomatoes, celery, carrots, broccoli, cucumbers for extra money because on wing night, the wings do not come with carrot and celery sticks. They no longer do this which disappoints us as we were happy paying extra for this. As for the service, I had to try and get the waitress’ attention more than once to get gingerale refills as well as to pay our bill. There weren’t many customers there at the time, and she really didn’t pay that much attention to the ones that were there. We have actually left without tipping for these reasons. A tip is never manditory, but earned. After our last experience, I’m not sure when we’ll be back. I hope they get this straightened out soon.
