If you want a tasty but overpriced sandwich, this is the place to go. It’s not a big sandwich for the price(~$ 7 – 8) but the ingredients are fresh and the sunflower bread is tasty. Their pies are ok– a nice addition to the meal but I don’t think you’re missing out if you skip it. Huge props to the Southside staff on how efficiently they can get through a long line!

Ordered 6 pies from the 149 Street location — apple, cherry, blueberry, pecan, banana cream, and lemon meringue. They were very helpful on the phone, and pleasant to deal with. The baker delivered the pies herself. They arrived, still warm, early even though the roads were bad. She brought a free extra butter tart for the girl who was being celebrated, which was very sweet. And, of course, the pies were phenomenal. Our company orders from them a lot, and we will continue to do so. 5 stars; no complaints.

I absolutely love the chicken salad sandwiches on sunflower bread nothing beats it! However the soups do not taste homemade this taste like they’re out of the bag. Unfortunately the lineups are always too long to service the lunch crowd

Chicken salad on sunflower bread with sprouts! What’s your sandwich order? The lineups can be long but the ladies here just pound people through, they know what they are doing and it shows. It can get hectic during peak lunch hours, but if you can go early or later(after 1:30) the crowd definitely thins out. Fresh ingredients, nothing overly complicated and the sunflower bread is baked in house. I almost never let myself eat bread anymore so when I do it better be worth it and THISBREADISWORTHIT. Do yourself a favour and don’t even bother with any other kind. As much as I enjoy a really good sandwich(and believe me, I do. I could talk about sandwiches for a good long time with my dad or brothers) we all know why we’re really there – the pie. Pick a flavour, any flavour, you really can’t go wrong. I like the cherry but I LOVE the chocolate. Save room, it’s worth it.

Called this morning to ask if they had gluten-free bread on-hand for a gluten-free sandwich at lunch(as gluten-free as you can get with a sandwich place, I suppose) because some coworkers wanted to go. The lady said she was pretty sure they did and put me on hold to confirm. She came back and said that they did. I asked, again, if I could just walk in at lunch and order a sandwich with gluten-free bread as I thought it was only for catering(my company has ordered lunch from here in the past) and she lady again indicated that I could. Showed up there for lunch — surprised — gluten-free sandwiches need to be ordered at least a day ahead of time and are only available via catering. Cool story — I like the one that I was told earlier in the day before you ruined my lunch. I get that FnD doesn’t want the liability, but if Press’d can do it, not sure why this place can’t. BTW — had FnD sandwiches before I was diagnosed with celiac, and nothing really to rave about, anyway.

This place is just down the street from my work so I stop in often for a quick lunch and it’s great. I try to go early to avoid the lunch rush because it can get crazy busy. I wouldn’t say the food here is particularly amazing but it’s fresh and tasty. The sunflower bread is really delicious and made in-store. Lots of variety on the menu and specials that change each day. The pies are probably the highlight, but they offer plenty of other baked goods as well. Nice homemade quality to everything.

Love this place. Come here often for lunch on workdays, food is fresh, made from scratch, and is delicious. Your sandwich is made Subway style(i.e. you choose the type of bread, meat, toppings… etc.) before moving on to their side selections(Soup, salad, veggies… etc) and finally pass through the dangerous pie window right next to the cashiers. Although main menu is fixed, pies are varied every now and then with a dozen or so different kinds to choose from.

A little on the pricey side, but it’s worth it. Amazing sandwiches and superb pies! I will definitely be coming back :)

One of Edmonton’s original sandwich shops and one of the longest lasting for a reason. ALL the ingredients are from fresh beef roasts, fresh turkey breasts, roasted on site and home made soups. Never mind the awesome pies that are baked right there. Non processed, non massed produced food might cost a few cents more but my health is worth it.

Best sandwiches ever, I like how you get to choose what you want on it and watch them make it. The pie is a must try, it’s so delicious! … It can be a little pricey if you get a meal, but very worth it in the end money well spent. Your first visit you get a free pie, which I didn’t know until about my 5th time going there when someone asked me, so if you are going for the first time just mention it to them!

The turkey sandwich, bread so fresh! and it’s REAL turkey. not lunch meat stuff. You can pick cranberries, lettuce, tomatoes, sprouts, green peppers, onions, banana peppers, and pickles too. for dessert went with the cherry pie… mmmm. so good. Hands down one of the BEST places for Sandwich on the southside of Edmonton. TIP!!! Go BEFORENOON! to beat the RUSH! oh and is it ever busy there!!! it’s a little pricy, but well worth it:) you wont be disappointed. Enjoy!

Pies are well known in Edmonton and for good reason. My favourite is their Flapper pie but lemon meringue is great as well.

This is my new favourite sandwich place. I adore the roast beef on multi grain! The sandwiches are so hearty and really fill you up! Put sprouts on my sandwich? yes please! This place has so many different sandwich options and a ton of other selections. The staff are extremely helpful and patient if you can’t decide what you want. This place gets super busy at noon so I definitely recommend the 11:30 line, still decently sized but definitely shorter. These sandwiches are fresh, so good! I can’t get enough! I just want them to pack me a sandwich everyday for lunch! Yummy!!!

Great sandwiches and soup, but pricey if you order both. The sandwich is big enough for lunch on it’s own. You’ll be offered cheese but not told you’ll pay for it… Busy around noon and early afternoon, the staff handle the lines quite quickly. Quirky cashier that’s there most of the time always cracks a little joke. Anyways, you can blow $ 7 on fast food or get a nice, hearty, nutritious sandwich for the same money… that’s why I come here.

went here for lunch about a month ago. It’s a lovely little space(the décor is great) with a warm and welcoming environment. The sandwiches are good & very filling, if nothing special. But the pie — oh the pie! It’s decadent and sweet and wonderful & filled to bursting with fruit. You can also get it with whipped cream or ice cream too. Best of all? If it’s your first visit to Fife and Deckle, the pie is on THEM. No, I’m not joking, it really is FREE. I left a very happy and very full girl :)

Sure, you can make a sandwich at home… but can you may pie like Fife N’ Dekel? If the answer is yes, I’m eagerly awaiting an invitation to a dinner party at your place! If you’re like me, and you like picking up the occasional lunch-to-go on your lunch break or before heading into work, and you don’t want the typical fast food place or Tim Horton’s, this is your stop. A variety of beverages await you, as well as a variety of sandwiches and soups. Rye bread? Multigrain? White? Turkey, PB&J or Tuna? There are a variety of combinations and vegetables for you to add. Want a soup or salad for your sandwich? They’ve got some options. Their pie case usually has at least half a dozen different varieties for you to try, and there are normally cookies and other baked goods to take with you as well. The pie is delicious and every month a new monthly pie is featured. The service at Fife N’ Dekel is friendly, and never without a smile. It’s the kind of place where you ask to speak to a manager to commend the great customer service. The prices are a little pricey, and I wouldn’t recommend this to be an everyday lunch destination for hungry nearby workers. However, if you do stop by there is seating to accommodate you and your lunchmates.

Fife N’ Dekel isn’t anything special. At least their sandwiches aren’t. The sandwiches are good but seem a bit overpriced for what you are getting. You could definitely make most of this stuff at home. I was more impressed with their desserts. They have one called the embellished brownie that is served with your choice of ice cream or whipped cream. Ice cream is the way to go. It is a really great dessert and it was less than $ 3. It’s worth checking out but don’t expect to be blown away. If I were to go again it would be to stop in for some dessert.

I had heard so much hype about Fife N’ Dekel that I figured it was finally time to try it. Ugh. What a disappointment. Why did I just spend $ 18 on two sandwiches I could have made at home? Was this supposed to be the appeal? «Home made?» My sandwich was dry(my boyfriend claimed this was because I didn’t put mayo on my bread, which could be part of it, but the turkey was pretty dry too…) but the bread was certainly fresh. I like that they seemed to use really fresh produce, but again, I could have spent $ 6 at Sobey’s and bought all the produce and bread and made myself the exact same sandwich. The place was hopping, and the line was moving very fast, so I can see the pull that this place may have. The desserts looked amazing, but I didn’t try one. The only reason I would go back here would be to try one of their lemon meringue pies(which looked HUGE) or pecan pies. I will not return for the sandwiches. I suggest you do not go out of your way either.
