The food is not good. I was quite dissapointed. Giving 2 stars as the customer service was really good.

After reading endless reviews about this place, I finally made my way here. Boy was it the best decision I’ve made all day! I had the half rack & quarter chicken meal($ 15.00) + 3 sides included. The half rack was huuge, falling off the bone and had a strong bbq taste! The chicken was juicy and the seasoning was mouth watering. For the sides i got the Spanish Rice, Bean Medley, and the Potato Salad but I also bought some Cornbread. The rice was tasty, the potato was nice and chunky. The cornbread was alright, maybe an off day but it wasn’t as good though I would try it again, but my favorite was the bean medley! If you want to compliment your ribs, you have to try the beans! Overall, it was amazing! The staff were really friendly too. Definitely bookmarked this place and you should too!

Tasted pretty good. However, for $ 11 the portion size of my brisket sandwich was far too small.

Tasty takeout barbeque. I had the beef brisket sandwich, which has great flavor and a fantastic sauce. It doesn’t hold up quite as well as a take out dish because the bun gets quite soft but the taste was still great. My husband loved his sides, especially the beans and Spanish rice. I found the Mac and cheese side fairly bland, I’d pass on that one in the future. I thought the food was comparable to Meat’s and a couple of our friends actually thought it to be better.

Not bad. First time here. Mac and cheese doesn’t have much flavour. Could be an off day. Cornbread is good. Brisket a tad chewy doesn’t quite have that break on bend I like. It’s an ok joint

It was delicious, I had the beef brisket plate 17.00 with three sides(a little pricey in my opinion, but given the briskest is an expensive piece of meat) It could have had more flavour to it but the drippings off the brisket were just perfect. Each side is very good I recommend the beans & corn, I left wanting more! Will go again :)

Hands down the best BBQ in town. Run by a Texan that knows what he’s doing… Been to many in Canada and the US and this one ranks in the top 10. For Edmonton standards several notches above Meat… and less pretentious. Also ribs and brisket are not dry like Meat.

Ok, so let me say that I’ve been to the Southern States and this isn’t the same BBQ as you would get there. However, you are in Edmonton. This is as close to that as you’re going to get. Sorry but this is the only reason for 4 stars and not 5. This place is small, with only about 10 tables. I’ve been there a number of times and have tried different meals. The vinyl bench seats and the stained glass windows with rockabilly/southern music playing gives this place an odd, yet appealing atmosphere. As soon as you walk in, you’ll see the counter, it’s cafeteria style ordering. The steam tray has all the BBQ’d goodness in one spot. There are meals listed on the chalk board, but you can ask them to throw something together for you. Menu is limited to usually BBQd Ribs, Chicken and brisket, along with sides like rice, beans, cornbread, and mac and cheese. You order it up, pay for it and take a seat anywhere. It’s very casual and in the evenings there are very few people there. I think it could be busier during the day for lunch. Portion sizes are large so take your appetite.

Did you know you can get Fired Up BBQ delivered to your door via Just Eat? Neither did I! My husband was looking online for something to eat, and he decided on Fired Up BBQ. I had a half rack of ribs, corn bread, bean medley, mac and cheese and a pecan square for dessert. Husband had ribs, chicken, and the same sides as me. Also had a dessert(not the same kind). The meals arrived in cardboard/recycled material boxes, so that was good to know that they are environmentally concious. Also, the forks were made of wood! How neat! The racks of ribs, even them being a half rack, WEREHUGE! I couldn’t believe the weight of the boxes, let alone what was in them. Seriously, huge. Fall off the bone, melt in your mouth, super moist ribs. I haven’t had take out ribs that were THATGOOD! Legit. They do it right. I could have used more sauce but that’s me. The sides: The bean medley was tasty. However there were chickpeas in it, so that kinda turned me off. I ate most of it though! The mac and cheese… ohhhhh mama! I made homemade mac and cheese at home, and these guys nailed it. For sure! The cornbread was crumbly and on the sweet side. Definitely not heavy at all. The pecan square, to me, didn’t seem homemade, but I cared not. Yum. Just typing this makes me vision the ribs and all the sides, and just how great it tasted. I would love to try more dishes, but with ribs like that, why would you eat anything else? You want great BBQ? Go here!

FANTASTIC place! Their smoked meat is delicious. The brisket melts in your mouth, the bbq chicken has amazing flavour and oh man… The coleslaw and potato salad are the greatest things i’ve had in a long time. The only fault i’ve seen is the mac & cheese. Not a good cheesy flavor and the macaroni was way overcooked. :(Please fix it Fired Up BBQ! I love mac & cheese and it needs some work!

Everyone that has reviewed this place needs to get a grip! It is horrible!!! It is cafeteria style and the sides sit in a warmer until they are served. When we got there at 7 pm the side were all nasty from sitting there. We tried the macaroni, Spanish rice, & watermelon. The macaroni and rice were both old and crusty. Now onto the ribs. They look like they will be great. But they are not. They have some kinda spice(I think) on them that gives them a horrible taste. The sauce is very watered down and also has a strange taste. We also got the toffee cake thing for dessert. It was very dry and boring as well. I would not recommend this place or come back.

Like Bruce previously mentioned, the outward appearance of Fired Up may make you feel like choosing to grab a 6 inch from the Subway next door is your best bet for lunch. WRONG. 1. A variety of authentic bbq style meats are available for the pickin’(along with a daily special, which lately has been beef ribs). 2. A plethora of sides to choose from. Among them: Corn bread, coleslaw, veggies, watermelon, beans, rice, pickles, and more. 3. The owner is just the sweetest man ever, as a matter of fact, he serves up lunch every day! You can tell this guy has poured his heart and soul into this seemingly underrated BBQ joint. For those who think that a traditional BBQ plate might be too heavy, try the salad with BBQ chicken. IT. IS. LIFE. Whatever type of cucumber/dill/ranch dressing that comes with it is next level, and the BBQ chicken leg on top makes you feel like less of a rabbit than your friends will inevitably try and make you believe you are. disclaimer: I would forego the beans in terms of a side-dish. As a garlic lover, I never thought I could utter the words, but: too much garlic. Also, they are a bit sweet for my liking. If you ever want to speak to me again: GETTHEPECANSQUAREDESSERT. Your blood sugar will not thank you, but your tastebuds will.

So, my wife and I live very close to Fired Up BBQ. But we never went in. We love BBQ, but the signage on the restaurant is so bad, we were afraid to eat there. Today we went to Porkapalooza. There were a lot of food trucks and my sweetie pointed out Fired Up BBQ. We could try it out here. OMG! So good! And the owner was running the truck and he was so very nice. We will be going to the restaurant very soon. My pulled pork sandwich was hands-down, the best I’ve ever had. My wife had a couple of beef ribs with potato salad on the side. It’s the first time I’ve ever heard her say she loved a potato salad from a restaurant. Her ribs were juicy and a real delight. Can’t wait to go to the restaurant.

Good food and friendly staff. Can’t go wrong here for good barbeque. Don’t feel shy about bringing the kids or some friends cause even though it’s a small place, the seating is nice and comfortable.

It really hurts when one of my fave places is no longer worthy or the initial rating. Unfortunately, too many times lately, the brisket has been incredibly dry. So very disappointing.

BBQ meat goodness! It was our first time at Fired Up the other night, and as my husband was craving some bbq, we stopped in for some take-out. Small location with just a few sit down tables, but nice & clean. Service at the counter was fast, and the girl helping us was friendly. The meat we had(pulled pork & beef brisket) was so good(yum in tum) — a day later I am day dreaming about returning to Fired Up to eat more meat! Between the two of us we tried 6 different sides– some were just okay, but the ones I recommend are the beans, coleslaw and corn bread. My only complaint was that we didn’t get enough bbq sauce in our take-out containers because I love my bbq sauce.

Get fired up! Before I was able to try Fired Up BBQ for myself, I suggested to one of my buddies to check them out. Yes, I sent him to a place I’ve never been before. He liked it so much he went twice! Clearly, I know my shiiiiz. Or as the kiddies say these days, NBD. I finally was able to try FUBBQ(yes, it’s been officially nicknamed) with two friends of mine for lunch on a Saturday. They weren’t busy at all, I was actually quite surprised. It must be busy during weekday lunches though. Either way, that meant prime pickings for us! There’s no menus — you just go up to the counter and order from their blackboard selections. Lots of different items to choose from(meals, sandwiches, BBQ plates, kids menu, southern sides and desserts). We ordered a lot of food for three people but there wasn’t a single drop of leftovers to take home. That’s how good it was. Plus my buddy is just a monster when it comes to eating food. He had to get an extra order of southern sides to wet his appetite. Each BBQ plate comes with your choose of three sides, choose wisely! — Pulled pork plate($ 13.00) — tender, juicy pulled pork goodness. If you couldn’t tell already, the portions of meat are very generous. Of course, we had coleslaw to go with this dish. We ain’t playing. — BBQ pork ribs full rack($ 24.00) — we asked for the BBQ sauce on the side, which had a nice sweet, tanginess to it. Another generous portion — two massive slabs of pork ribs that were fall of the bone tender but still had a nice, slightly crispy bite to it. Just the way I like it. — BBQ half chicken($ 16.50) — two full sized pieces of chicken(thigh and drumstick!). Wow, these were off the charts tender. I was mightily impressed. You NEED to order the chicken. This was my favourite dish of the day! Order the chicken. Dooooo it. — Sides — Spanish rice($ 2.50), 2x cornbread($ 1.00 each) & baked beans($ 2.50) — for our BBQ platters, we tried to sample most of their offerings(southwestern corn, potato salad, coleslaw, mac & cheese). All of them were great except for the mac & cheese, which sadly didn’t have any rich, creamy flavour to it. It was pretty bland, almost lifeless. Can’t complain too much though when everything else was dynamite. — Iced tea($ 2.00 large) — house brewed ice tea. The ice tea was mild, not sweet at all, which contrasted nicely with all of the food that we ordered. Solid, solid spot to get your BBQ fix. Just look for the Argyll Plaza sign and you’ll see it. Or for that matter, look for Union Hall, which I had no clue is literally right beside Fired Up BBQ. Next time we will have to leave some room for their desserts.

I liked Fired Up BBQ just ok. Don’t get me wrong; I’m a carnivore. I love me my meat. But I just can’t seem to get into southern barbeque. I think it’s the kind of bbq sauce? I haven’t given up yet though! I think my experience with this place might also be skewed due to arriving about half an hour before closing, so there was less variety for the meats and sides. None of the sides we tried were outstanding(mac and cheese, spanish rice, southwestern corn, potato salad). For meats we had ribs and brisket. Huge portions so decent bang for your buck. The ribs were tender and falling of the bone(unfortunately I like my ribs to have a little bit of chew) with a smoky sauce, which was ok but not for me. The brisket was excellent, with a good balance of fat and meat, cooked so that it shredded easily under my fork. They don’t have fried chicken which kind of surprised me — isn’t that a hallmark of southern food? I could be wrong. The place is kind of in a strange location, and it’s got more of a fast food feel to it rather than sit-down restaurant, by virtue of ordering at the front, getting a plastic tray, and having the meats and sides ready-made behind the counter. Overall, if you’re in the area or love barbeque, it’s probably worth checking out, but for me, once was enough.
