I am not usually a big fan of pizza but ever since I was introduced to Funky Pickle Pizza I get these random cravings for it — and it MUST be Funky Pickle. I believe I may have been a little turned off by the ‘rough around the edges’ décor initially. Because of this I had regrettably missed out on this place for way too long. There is just something about the ingredients they use, the way they put it all together, a how it is cooked to perfection that is just better! Next to homemade, this is by far my favourite pizza to date. BONUS — the people who work here are actually quite pleasant to deal with — something that seems to have become a bit of a rarity these days. One setback — I eat like a bird so these slices are like 2.5 meals worth of food for me. The sad part is that I really enjoy the crust but I think I have yet to make it that far before feeling completely stuffed. Problem easily overcome at home, but when walking down Whyte Ave, eating your pizza backwards can be messy(and those little cardboard tray type things just don’t hold up so well)!!

It’s moderate to good, but it seems they just throw bulk ingredients in the pie instead of taking time to chop it all up. For instance the pepperoni is cut up pepperoni, kind of weird, but maybe that is their shtick. I will probably go dominos before trying this place again.

Oh Funky Pickle, how I love thee. First of all, Funky Pickle is an incredibly awesome name for a pizza place. On their website, they have a little story about a pickle that was different from all the other pickles. This pickle loved good times and good food. The story goes into a comical tale of a pickle in Edmonton and I love it! That is reason enough to love this place! But that’s not the only reason. The pizza at Funky Pickle is incredible. All the ingredients are fresh and the slices are huge. I always add Parmesan cheese and chili flakes to mine(they have them out on the counters for you to use) to give it that extra kick. This is the only place that I have ever been to that serves a pizza with artichoke hearts on it. Before you judge it, try it. It is amazing. Funky Pickle always has interesting and unique pizzas fresh from the oven. Of course they have some of the classics too if you aren’t feeling adventurous, but I recommend trying one of their concoctions because they are great! This is also just a cool place in general. It has a «funky» vibe to it. It’s a great place to grab a slice and chat with a friend, people watch through the huge front window, or grab it go and eat as you walk down Whyte. However, and wherever you eat it, eat it. It’s great stuff!

Hands down, best pizza in town! I have been ordering Funky Pickle pizza for years, and I will continue doing so. If you are looking for a break from your regular same old-same old pizza, give Funky Pickle a try. At first glance, the ingredients in some of the pizzas sound bizzare. For example, who would have thought that putting marinated artichokes or zucchini on a pizza will result in a great taste? Well, it does. Funky Pickle’s pizzas taste unusual and delicious. The crust is thin and never dry, the toppings are fresh and go well together. Some of the pizzas I can recommend are Greek, Funky Chicken(one of the best!) and Lonely Hearts. If you choose to eat at Funky Pickle rather than ordering take-out or delivery, you can purchase pizza by the slice. This comes especially handy if you are dancing the night away at Whyte avenue night clubs, and need a quick bite. Tipsy bar hoppers favour two Funky Pickle Whyte ave locations which get extremely busy on weekend nights.

Funky Pickle has some of the most interesting pizzas I have ever had. This small location has takeout and a few seats to enjoy your pie. I especially enjoy the felafel pizza, with is actually vegan — no cheese at all, just hummous(chick pea paste) as the sauce, and bits of felafel(chick pea paste balls), peppers, and onions as the topping, on Funky Pickle’s famous whole wheat crust. I have gotten some other«funky» combinations here, using different kinds of vegetables that you normally don’t find in regular pizza joints, like snow peas and corn. There are also traditional toppings like ham, pineapple, sausage, mushrooms, and such. Prices are a little higher than other pizza places, but this is what I would classify as gournet pizza — at least as far as take out and delivery go.
