Really. Highly. Deeply disappointed by the archaic value of not serving long haired brown skins. Without an explanation the lights turned off while my friends paid the pool table to play a game before their food came. They were told to leave. They weren’t belligerent or rude in anyway. The waitress who kindly served them earlier, apologetically said«sorry» as they got their bags and left. The days of discrimination should not be tolerated by anyone. Edmonton leadership promised reconciliation with the aboriginal peoples, YEG businesses should follow their lead. I definitely will not be supporting this racial profiling business. There are plenty of awesome pubs that offer great food, service and gratitude!

Pizza(bacon) was fine, not spectacular, and not inexpensive. Ordered a gin and tonic that didn’t appear to contain gin or tonic: tasted like tap water on ice. This was balanced out by an acquaintance’s G&T that reportedly tasted just gin and nothing else. Give it a miss.

Well this place takes their customer only parking very seriously. We parked here to eat next door then come back for drinks. The owner saw us. We told him we will return after for beers. His response? He told us to move our car and«don’t come back for anything». So sadly I am unable to tell u anything about this place except maybe it should be nominated for kitchen nightmares? Perhaps it might be the Canadian version of «Amy’s Baking Company».

If you want to go to a pub to listen to crappy jukebox music, enjoy tacky décor, decent pizza and decently priced drinks, then the Garneau Pub is your place to be. My friends and I go for the Combat Juice, which is 2 shots of rum, 2 shots of gin, and 2 shots of vodka with a full beer, orange juice and grenadine mixed in a pitcher and served with a straw… only for $ 11!!! Surprisingly delicious as well. The pub doesn’t offer much other than pizza, but the pizza is good and you can get a personal size for under $ 10. The sweet old owner of this place has been there walking around very time I’ve been there, which is a nice feeling :) This place isn’t the cleanest joint in town, and it doesn’t have a dance floor so if you’re wanting those two criteria met, continue looking elsewhere. Also, make sure to get here BEFORE10:00. Usually after 10:00 on weekends they reach capacity and won’t let anyone in until people leave. Also, it’s a $ 5 minimum purchase per person so make sure everyone has money on them. Overall, if thongs hanging from the ceiling, inflatable dolphins, early 2000s music and good drinks are your scene, then you’ve got to try the Garneau at least once.

Pros: –Well its a dive bar so its a nice place to hang out with friends. Medocrities: –The beer and pizza is okay. –The Combat juice is seriously overrated. Cons: The biggest problem experianced when visiting this place was the manager and the staff. –The staff seemed to be confused as to who ordered what because they brought the wrong items to our table twice. –We as a group just hung out and talked, and ordered about $ 150 worth of beer and pizza. Anyhow, as we were paying up the manager told us that we were not welcome at the Garneau and didn’t even explain why. I mean its not like we were being noisy or rowdy. Anyhow, if you want to hang out with friends, have okay pizza and beer and get banned by the a**shole manager for no reason whatsoever then the Garneau is just the place for you.

I hate this place on a special level. It reminds me of that friend’s basement you used to drink in when you were in high school. It wasn’t all that great back then, but it certainly isn’t the kind of place I want to spend money to sit in now. This isn’t about me having a vendetta against dive bars. I love a good dive bar, but I also except it to appear somewhat sanitary. The décor here is ridiculous, the music is all on a jukebox and it’s bad, combat juice is disgusting, and the bathrooms are even worse. Yuck. Yuck. Yuck. Even if all you want to do is watch hockey, it’s hit or miss. You might get stuck at the stupid table with the umbrella on it and have to peek around to catch a glimpse of the TV. Outdoor patio furniture indoors isn’t «kitschy» or «hipster» in any way. It’s just tacky. The only thing saving the Garneau Pub from having one star is the staff. I’ve never had any issues with the service here. The waitresses are always attentive and nice. Otherwise, there’s really no reason to go here.

First off, there’s only one reason anyone should be going to the Garneau Pub and that’s for drinks. I’m not talking your fancy cocktails or martinis, but you’re having a beer or something with coke. Or maybe you want to grab a beer and play the VLTs. Do not come here for: — fancy drinks(including wine) — food(they only really have pizza) — dancing(there is no dance floor) Come here for: — Combat Juice!(crazy mixed drink that is delicious) — drinks with friends in a nice atmosphere — play a game of pool(there is one table) — get away from the traditional bar scene Once you know what you’re getting yourself into and have a could of good friends to keep you company, I’m sure you’ll have a great time(just don’t make the manager mad or he will kick you out).

Food at the Garneau Pub is ridiculously overpriced for simple pub fare. I wouldn’t recommend eating there at all.

Perhaps dive bars aren’t my scene, but I really didn’t care for this place one bit. A friend and I ordered a medium pizza at around 9 pm. We didn’t hear from the waitress for nearly 40 minutes, so we waved her down to ask where our food was. She didn’t know, so said she would ask. 20 minutes later we wave her down again, and she tells us someone forgot the pizza was in the oven, and they had to start a new one. 20 minutes after that we finally got our food, which was simply sustenance, nothing worth writing more than one sentence about. We were still charged for the pizza, despite taking nearly an hour and a half, and we had to hunt down the waitress for our change. She said«I thought that my tip». NO sense of professionalism or accountability at all. Atmosphere was loud, music was loud enough to make conversation with someone sitting next to me difficult/next to impossible. Especially after 10 pm, a very seedy crowd starts showing up. Overall, a terrible place that I would be very happy to never go to again.

A dingy little dive that is straight out of a small town in anywhere-ville Alberta circa 1983… and I love it! I must admit, I didn’t willing go to the GP as it may be know(my company might be pulling my chain). I had attended the screening at the Metro Theater for the best four-quel ever filmed(in Edmonton at least), M. M’s Middle Man. Ok, that’s my blatant, cheap plug of the month for family… And the Garneau Pub was the chosen after party site. We walked in and I was immediately taken aback by the décor; 80’s beer/hockey/sports car posters on the wall’s, I even believe there was a poster of a unicorn. People, I couldn’t make this up if I tried. We then settled into our picnic bench, ya you heard me. The very nice waitress took our drink orders and quite nicely refrained from rolling her eyes at me when I asked for the wine list. My bad! Through 2(most likely 3) rounds of Jack Daniels, we laughed, joked and had an absolute riot mainly centered on the hilarious, but oh so Alberta essence of this heavenly hole-in-the-wall. Some times we urban Edmontonians get so caught up in our charcuterie, we forget the kinds of places that most of small town Alberta corrals into for their pint of draft. I’m not saying I’d become a regular, but it sure made for one heck of an interesting night! Oh, and the pizza is crazy good!

Walk in here knowing what you’re getting yourself into, and you’re going to have a hell of a night. It doesn’t matter if you’re a college student out for post-exam libations or part an older pack, just here for the pool tables and slot machines. The staff are fine. They keep the beer flowing! Even better, they’ll mix you combat juice(a pony juice combo of about 10 different kinds of liquor) until the sun comes up. If you and your buddies have inhaled enough combat juice to begin your own impromptu dance party? That’s fine, too. It’s low-lit, but the pizza is decent enough, there’s a few pool tables to go around, and it’s got a great location. My favourite dive!

Garneau Pub has pretty good pizza but I didn’t have a great experience. The staff was really rude. that might not be the right word actually. They just seemed like they didn’t want us to be there or they had some place else to go. We felt really uncomfortable. The place is pretty laid back and simple. Could be a good spot to go with friend’s. I have heard good things about it so I am willing to give it another chance.

I come here for the pizza. One side of the establishment is the pub itself; the other side is more of a family dining area serving pizza, pasta, and a few other entrees. The pizza is very good — I generally get a personal sized one with a few vegetarian toppings. The crust is crispy and the toppings are piled on. The pub part is kind of dark and not huge — a great place to grab a meal and a few drinks with friends. It is quite a popular place to hang out, and stays a lot more quiet than other pubs and bars in the area.

I’ve been to Garneau Pub a few times. It’s a really good place to have a birthday or to gather with a group of friends. It might look like a bit of a dive, but it’s actually just a no-frills, laid-back atmosphere, which I really like. The place is pretty dark, and they place some okay music. The food is pretty good, especially the pizza. The staff is really nice. When it was my friend’s birthday, she really wanted a warm alcoholic drink, so the waitress congered up something that they wouldn’t normally serve. In the Winter, you might get confused as to where the bathroom is, because a heavy rug works as a sliding door that covers the hallway entrance to the bathroom. It’s to keep the cold air from getting into the pub. I think Garneau Pub is one of the best neighbourhood pubs in the city, and it’s an excellent place to gather for great conversation over some great food.

Every once in a while I get a craving to go to Garneau Pub. It’s a pretty regular place in terms of the space and crowd. But their food puts me in my comfort zone if I’m feeling under the weather, or I’ve had a good workout and deserve a treat. They have awesome pizza, a thicker crust with tons of cheese. And, it’s cut in squares, not triangles, which I LOVE because the huge pieces in the middle with crustless edges are SO good. Their lasagna is also really good, it’s huge and cheap. This is a good place to come for a few drinks. They have two pool tables, but other wise, I wouldn’t want to spend a whole night here. It’d get kinda boring, in my opinion. The crowd’s not rowdy, but rather quite low-key. It gets really busy on weekends, and it’s not too big of a place, so it gets pretty full. There’s a pretty large row of VLTs and always people popping coins into the slot. The place is OK, but bordering on dinge. But it’s been a neighbourhood fixture for over 10 years. I’d say it’s ’cause of the food.
