I’ve being coming to this restaurant since it was on the west end. Great service, wonderful food and now conveniently located downtown.

Is it a restaurant? Is it a step up from a fast food place? I don’t know. I was running late for a meeting and stopped in to grab something quick to take along with me. I saw that they had salad rolls and thought that would be a great option and went up to order. I was super unimpressed that they were $ 10 for 4 rolls. I feel like that was a lot considering what goes into a salad roll but I was desperate and needed something easy to eat. Now, the set up kind of looks cafeteria style so I just made the assumption that the food would be served up nice and quick. In reality they made the salad rolls from scratch, which, I realize is a crazy thing to complain about but when you are expecting something different and are tight on time I really couldn’t appreciate the fresh factor. I guess if I had walked in and gotten the impression it was more of a sit down and wait kind of place I would have seen this coming but it genuinely is set up to look like the food will be ready within minutes of paying for it. The rolls were pretty good– though still I think they were too pricey so the quality was there. I will try it again but next time I am giving myself a full hour to test it out. Keep posted ;)

One of the best lunch spots in in Edmonton downtown.

Ate here with my wife, and while our soup was quite tasty, it resulted in massive gastrointestinal upset, the likes of which I have not seen in years, in about an hour after lunch. We returned to mention this to the staff, and while they assured us everything was fine and fresh, no offer of compensation or anything came up. I would expect a restaurant to react a bit differently when someone gets sick from their food.

I work a couple blocks over so I decided to check this place out for a late lunch last Thursday. When I walked in, the place was empty so I was able to walk up to the counter and order directly. I chose the lemongrass beef bowl to go. While you wait, they provide you with a pager-like device to notify you when the order is ready. I didn’t think this was necessary in this instance since I was the only customer… but whatever! While I waited, I noticed the décor to be bright, clean and modern. The displays are organized and tidy which is nice to see! They have a display case full of macaroons and coconut macaroons on top in case you crave something sweet with your meal. As for the food I ordered, it was prepared well. The beef was tender and well seasoned which I appreciated. The noodles were cooked perfectly. It came with shredded salad and was supposed to come with bean sprouts(but I declined those). So the bowl didn’t have much color and variety in the end. The price is a bit expensive for what you get but I guess that comes with the territory of being downtown. All in all, a decent spot for Vietnamese food I think. Parking is a pain though so if you’re driving here, there are limited meters out front and no private parking lot otherwise.

I liked it. I got phở to go. I received the broth and the meat and noodle in separate bowls and mixed them together when I got home. It was delicious and hearty. I also got the coconut shrimp which was good. The food came with a generous amount of bean sprouts and a slice of lemon. I liked this so much since I think bean sprouts are really good for health. I think I will buy from them again.

I was so excited to see my favorite Vietnamese restaurant downtown in an easy stay in/take out set up. Ordered my usual Chicken Vermicelli bowl(that I normally get at WEM). It was so disappointing! Chicken dry and overcooked, and most importantly the fish sauce that you pour over the whole thing was terrible! Did they forget an ingredient when they made it today?! It could be a one off bad experience but I’m in no hurry to try it again. I’ll get my bowl at WEM. Too bad…

I usually go to Hoang Long in WEM so I thought I’d give this one a shot– and I am so glad I did, the menu is quite different and the variety offers a great selection. I went here for lunch today and got the beef skewer and an order of kimchi(things not offered at their other location) and really loved it! They don’t have servers here so you just order your food and get it when you’re ready, so don’t expect too much service! They were quite polite when taking the order and everything and everyone working had smiles on. If you’re coming here for lunch make sure you have time because this place gets pretty packed

The team at Hoang Long Casual Fare never disappoint. The food & Service is always top notch. I am always delighted when I start from my favourites which are the Thai chicken noodle soup & Beef skewers to find another amazing meal.

Just came here for lunch, as I LOVE Cecilia and wanted to try her restaurant. I had a vermicelli bowl with beef(because their lemongrass beef is heaven on easth) and peanut sauce. It was a perfect light lunch and I left feeling happily full and not bogged down. I will definitely be coming back again!

We had the Beef Lemongrass Skewer at Taste of Edmonton yesterday and it was really tasty. It was so delicious that several of the people in our group had seconds and even thirds of this item. We will definitely be checking out the restaurant to see what else they have to offer.

Great variety of delicious food options. Both healthy and delicious spins on classic Vietnamese fare. My pick when I go is the Vietnamese sandwich; fresh baked bread with lots of roasted chicken and fresh veg.

Amazing. I got a vermicelli bowl with beef and ate the entire thing in 10 minutes. I’m pretty sure I found the best Vietnamese food place in Edmonton.

I’ve been a fan of Hoang Long for years prior to their move downtown. When they closed the restaurant on the West end I was lost and heartbroken. I thought I had lost the best Lemongrass Beef Satay forever! To my surprise they have simply just moved locations and I was astatic to find them downtown just recently. The new restaurant is well designed, looks great and feels new again. The beef lemongrass satay was so good today and I actually ordered a second bowl because I missed it so much! Keep up the great work! Best of luck in the new year!

While this place might be more expensive than many other Vietnamese restaurants, it serves the needs of the community well. At lunch they have quick meal service with cold and hot options and easy ordering. Depending on how busy they are, it may take a while to receive your food, but it is generally delicious and exactly what you’ve ordered. They even heed my ‘no cilantro’ request very well on their Vietnamese sandwiches. I usually order a vermicelli bowl with one or two toppings. Apparently they also offer more of a traditional sit down environment for supper. This is a nice combination for the area.

Any time I’m feeling Thai/Asian cuisine, Hoang Long is one of my top choices! The food is full of flavour, meals are reasonably priced, and the portion sizes aren’t small at all. I would definitely recommend checking it out if you’re in the area!

Coming into this place, I love the ambiance and trendy décor. It’s very clean and seating comfortable. The menu can be difficult to see it all when you are near the front door lining up. It was just before 12 on a Friday and there wasn’t much of a line up yet. I ordered the chicken and spring roll vermicelli bowl for $ 11. They give you a buzzer so you know when your food is ready. It’s a good thing we came before noon as we had our choice of seating but it started to get full within a few minutes. The food didn’t take long and I went up to get my bowl. They have an area where you can help yourself to cutlery, water, and I believe bean sprouts too. The chicken was good but the spring rolls were overcooked and somewhat hard. The noodles had a few clumps in it too but there was enough fish sauce to give it a good taste. Great location and within walking distance from work. It’s nice to see another Vietnamese restaurant in the area for lunch option.

Yes! The Phở is gluten free! Décor is clean, modern and bright. Parking — there isn’t. Meters out front tend to be full all the time. Around back there is a pay parkade, not sure how much daytime parking there will be, the Save-On lot will tow you if they see you park and leave the mall. Stepping in the door, you are greeted by the menu hanging in a long row from the ceiling, the Beer & wine cooler, and a dessert cooler filled with the cutest pastries. Depending on the day, it can get busy here at lunchtime, so it can be good to come early or late to avoid the rush. It’s set up for a busy lunch takeout on the right, but it doesn’t seem to have taken off. Proceed to the counter to your left when you enter to place your order. You order at the counter, and they give you a buzzer like you’d get at a restaurant waiting for a table. It goes off when your order is ready. Grab your cutlery and napkins after you order on your way to your table, or when you come back to the counter to pick up your lunch. You may want to dress your dish at the condiment counter too. Water is available from a jug at the cutlery station, or you can purchase bottled water. Plenty of soup and rice/noodle bowls to choose from. I’ve tried both the Phở and Bun vermicelli. While the noodle bowl was straightforward, I was hoping for more variety of veggies with vietnamese mint/basil, cucumber etc. Phở is tasty, and large. I usually have to get a to-go container for the leftovers. I should just learn to bring my own container. Next time! I was hoping to try the rotisserie chicken, but the last 3 times I’ve visited, there hasn’t been fresh ready.

Well I’ve got to give this place credit, they definitely are stylish! With giant installation light forms that you can see from all up and down on 109th St while you’re approaching Jasper Ave. The seating is also very futuristic chic. This quick and easy Vietnamese place sure has flair! Parking, now that’s another story… The best I can suggest is in the Impark across the street, or maybe way over in the Save-On lot; not the most ideal for take-out. I had the coconut soup with broccoli and an order of onion cakes. Both were fantastic! I love that the onion cakes are the big doughnut shaped ones. I’m not sure how busy this place gets, The floor to ceiling windows usually reveal an empty restaurant. When I stopped in there was one other person and they were taking their meal to-go. With such a large space in pretty pricy realestate I hope they survive the long winter!
