This restaurant is very quiet with the typical Vietnamese menu. It’s located by the Walmart and no competition nearby. The prices are comparable with other places. You get fast and quick service but don’t expect anything too friendly. The don’t have large tables so if you are a group larger than 4, I would call ahead. The food is okay, nothing really shouts out.

Everyone deserves a second chance. And I gave these guys a second… a third… and fourth… and I’m done. It’s phở(I’m a phở junkie) and it’s literally 2minutes from my work and that’s the only reason it gets 2 stars. I’ve tried this place 4 times. The first was an absolute awful disaster(poor phở, no condiments/sprouts, waiting in line at lunch to pay, spending an hour to eat lunch on a weekday). The second was ok and I was hopeful for redemption. The third and fourth times have sealed the deal that I will not return, It’s not even that the food is the worst. They can’t handle they’re business. They’re always out of some main staple of Vietnamese(sprouts, basil etc). The bussing of tables is so spoor it gets to the point of gross with half eaten food all over the tables. And waiting in a line 10 deep to pay is just straight up annoying. Up the staff, get it together, you’re busy at lunch, deal with it.

The restaurant is very clean and nicely set up. But beyond that I was not wowed. We both had a pop. Which was served from the cooler. That was it. No offer of a glass with ice or a straw. Also did not see any drink prices anywhere so it was a surprise to see that they were $ 2.50 each. That’s a bit much for a just can of pop. We received our food within a reasonable amount of time. But after it was served our server did not come by to check how the quality was or if anything else was needed. The phở was served with a lime wedge and I would have preferred more as well as a glass of water. We were only asked after we had already finished our meal. It was a slow night with just 3 tables including ours. Through there were at least 4 pickup orders during our meal. We were over all content with our food, but felt the cost and experience did not meet expectations.

First off, for those reading this, I’m from Toronto and my comments are based off of phở in Toronto. So I’m visiting Edmonton and wanted to know how Alberta phở is like. Saw this place on the way to my hotel and dropped it. As a base of comparison when I try new phở places I always get spring rolls and phở. I was disappointed with the spring rolls as they used the Chinese type of wrap as opposed to the Viet style, which is better, especially when paired with good fish sauce. This fish sauce was only OK. The phở was crazy expensive! $ 11.95? Its size was bigger than a medium but smaller than a large compared to Toronto. And with that price you would get an EXTRA large in Toronto! The beef it came with wasn’t the proper type of beef either. Got a glass of water but no tea which every Viet place I’ve been to always serves. Idk if this place is represent I’ve of Edmonton phở in general but I just gotta say that you Albertans gotta come to Toronto and have our phở! For the price point and quality of the food I had to give 1 star. Sorry.

My family and I decided to hit this placed up based on the 8 reviews that equal 4 stars. If you think this is the best Vietnamese in the city you need to broaden your horizons. Service was none existent pretty much for the entire meal. We ordered tea with our food and received it when we were done. Here are some tips to improve on. –buy some squeeze bottle condiment dispensers. Nothing worse then having to spoon out globs of hoisin sauce on your bowl. –cut your damn meat up! Flattened slabs of meat thrown on rice doesn’t cut it. Do yourself a favor and check out Quan’s Café in the west end. They have it down to a science. If you want a role model they are it. R

I’ve ate here once, and I think I will return :) I had the pork and spring rolls vermicelli bowl, it was tasty however it was not blow my mind but it was decent that I would eat it again. It tasted fresh, and they have good service and it was quick and that is a good thing at lunch! My friend had the ginger beef and liked it as well. So if you’re looking for quick service and decent food, eat here!

I really like this place. The most important quality of any restaurant, I would say, is consistency. I’ve been here one to two dozen times and every time I am very pleased. Everyone is friendly and attentive to your accommodations. Prices are moderate to inexpensive, for what you get. The food comes out quickly and is consistently good. Hands down, the best won ton soup I’ve ever had. If a dish isnt hot enough for you, they will accommodate you with extra pepper.

I will start off by saying this review is for take-out. One of my pet peeves with most restaurants take-out is the portion sizes never seem to be the same as dine-in. This was my first visit to Phở Rice Pot, so I don’t know what the dine-in portion sizes are, but the take-out portions are great! I order the 5 Colour Grilled Vermicelli Combination. It comes with the standard vermicelli noodles, lettuce, carrots and cucumbers. Besides the portion sizes, the part I really enjoyed was the style of the meat. The beef and pork wore both nicely grilled and were nicely place on top the noodles like pieces of sandwich meat. I don’t know if I have every had this presentation before as they always seem to be cut up in small pieces and just thrown on-top. The grill had good flavor that is better than your average Vietnamese restaurant. Based on taste alone, I will definitely be back. Now to the price. The plate, is only $ 11.50. That means for $ 15 you get a great plate of food including tip. Phở Rice Pot, you have just become one of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants with Back Street Bistro, well done.

Awesome. Went here quite a while ago so don’t even recall what I ordered(except it was a veggie curry plate of some sort) — it was AWESOME. Wish this place was in Fort Mac. Oh well. Those lucky enough to go? I’m jealous. Mmmm…

When we arrived at the restaurant, there was no one eating in the restaurant but a few people getting take out. I’m not sure if this was a good thing or not but it was late afternoon on a Sunday. The restaurant has comfortable booths as well as tables and chairs. We were seated in a booth and were promptly brought waters. I decided to get the 4 colour vermicilli bowl with 2 spring rolls, 4 slices of grilled pork, 1 meatball, and shredded pork. The grilled pork had a delicious bbq grill taste and it was my favourite meat. I think the proportions varied from that listed on the menu. It came out on a plate rather than a bowl and the portion size seemed very big. At $ 10.50, it’s more expensive than other restaurants but it’s also bigger. In addition to the pork, noodles, and spring rolls, I got 2 pieces of slice cucumber, carrots, bean sprouts and lettuce which were fresh and crispy. I could only eat half of my meal and was full. My husband had the combo dinner with grilled chicken and shrimp for $ 12.95. His came with wonton soup of 3 wonton, broccoli cauliflower, and other veggies. The broth was hot and tasty and I didn’t mind drinking it. His meal looked simliar to mine except he ordered rice and they also brought fish sauce for him too. He wasn’t a fan of the rice as it was hard and probably sitting in the cooker for a while and not very fresh. I would go back and try the phở. I’m sure the broth would be good and I wouldn’t mind paying the extra dollar or so for the convenience of the location and the cleaniness of the restaurant.

This restaurant was formerly known as The Rice Pad, but has since changed its name and, presumably, its ownership. The menu contains the predictable selection of Vietnamese and Chinese dishes to be found at such a restaurants, but prices are a a dollar or two higher. Likely this is a result of the location, but after sampling the food here, it is more likely because of the high quality of the food and huge — and I mean, huge — portions. We spent a while scanning the menu, full of choices of phở, noodle bowls, rice dishes, and standard Westernized Chinese fare like ginger beef and lemon chicken. My dining partner went for the lemon chicken. He was presented with a large plate containing three chicken breasts, battered and fried to a golden brown. The chicken was juicy and plump, while the coating was crispy and not too greasy. We noted that with an order of rice, we could have shared it for lunch. The sweet lemon sauce was served in a bowl to the side, allowing the customer to used as much or as little as per one’s taste. I went for one of the restaurant’s special items, which was stewed beef brisket soup. I had a choice of egg or rice noodles, and I opted for rice. Surprisingly, it took longer for my soup to arrive — by the time it came, the lemon chicken was half gone. However, it was worth the wait. The bowl was so large, I could have gone swimming in it. Huge chunks of reasonably lean brisket floated atop a mountain of noodles, as did a number of large and tender carrot pieces. The broth was so aromatic, its scent wafted all through our table, and it was a bit spicier than other Vietnamese stews I have had. I think a spicy paprika may have been used(also attributing to the broth’s orange colour), but I could also taste cloves and other seasonings. It was fantastic. The interior of the restaurant has not changed. It is large and spacious, with two levels of seating. Service is reasonably friendly, although our waitress disappeared after our food was served. That aside, the food alone is reason to come here. Phở Rice Pot is easily one of the best Asian restaurants in west Edmonton.
