Today I went to buy some organic wine at the superstore liquor store in clarview in Edmonton. Keep in mind I was not drinking or intoxicated, I am of age, and I was legally attempting to purchase some wine for my mother’s birthday party. The«garda» security guard stopped me in the Isle and asked me for my ID in the store, which was no big deal until he wouldn’t give it back. I asked for it back as I was in a bit of a rush and he told me not to be rude. I explained that I am not being rude, I just have limited time to get everything ready for my mother’s birthday and i dont have time to converse at the moment. Then he told me he could have me banned from the store. Confused, I said, «why would you want to ban me for buying wine?» He then told me that I needed to leave… so I asked for a manager. The security guard bullied me to the front of the store where I asked the cashier for the manager. The manager wasn’t there and the supervisor couldn’t be bothered to help(she was too busy stocking shelves). The security guard told me to leave before he «physically removes» me. I left and made a complaint in the main store and called lawblaws customer service. I left a message at the liquorstore for the manager. I also called garda security company and left two messages. I spoke with the edmonton police service because of the harassment I received. They advised that he was not in the right and had he put his hand on me he would have been charged with assault but I left out of embarrassment and confusion before it could escalate to that. Another classic case of abuse of power for no reason. I won’t be buying anything from any lawblaw company until I am satisfied that the guard has been relieved of his duties and I have a formal apology.

This location is WAYYYYYYYYWAYWAYYYYYYYY better than a few years back(circa 2005−2009ish). The remodel, expansion of Joe Fresh, and self-check out lanes are great! You still need to be prepared to wait in long lines at times and do watch your clearance prices because they will sometimes ring up at the original price and not the sale price. There are a few staple items what will keep my family coming to super store until the end of time: 1 — When we had babes in diapers, their GREEN brand is ½ the price of any other eco-friendyish diaper on the market. 2 — Their GREEN cat litter is 2⁄3 the cost of the comparable one at PetsMart and every bit as good! If you haven’t tried the GREEN cat litter you are missing out — it is lightweight, clumping, and dust free in comparison to traditional litter. 3 — PC food products are usually REALLY good and comparitive in price to generic brands. 4. — Joe Fresh clothing line is really quite diverse, affordable, and on trend! I’d much rather pick up something for the kiddos here than at Walmart. Superstore, I’ll be seeing you soon!

I shop here and no frills. And all i can say is I can’t believe how dirty the store looked. Broken eggs all over the place food all over the floor and not a single imployee in site or even care that there’s Crap all over the place. Need more up keep I am sorry to say. Not impressed.

I know a lot of people avoid Superstore like the plague and I can understand why. I’ve been to some locations that could really use some TLC. This location seems different. The produce area appears tidy. Yes there are times when some items are not in stock but it is a busy store. If I really need something and I have time to wait, I will ask the staffer see if they have any in the back. They are usually very helpful and willing to go check. The meat at this store is good too. I’m not talking about butcher quality meat here but Canadian meats and tasty for the price. Again, if there is something I am looking for that isn’t on the shelf, I can ask and they will check for me. Our family loves the PC brand crispy crunchy breaded chicken wings from the freezer. 20 minutes in a hot oven and we have crispy and juicy wings to snack on. They are great tossed in some Frank’s hot sauce too. I love the selection at superstore. I don’t need to visit three stores to get everything my family needs each week which is great for a busy family with two little kids. During the last strike, I saw that various management staff were working in the stores and boy did the place ever look clean! There was a little less produce on the shelves but still enough for our family. I was accosted by an angry picketer when I crossed the line. He yelled at me «don’t you have any place better to shop?». It is my humble opinion that YOUR dispute with YOUR employer of CHOICE is none of my concern and should not affect my shopping habits. Good for the management team for keeping the store in fabulous condition and continuing to serve loyal customers during a difficult time.

Been going here for about 7 years since i moved to the area. If their prices were not the best i would not go here anymore. They do have a pretty good selection of everything including seafood. However, I have waited 20 mins to half hour waiting for someone to show up to weigh my seafood a few times. Also dont bother getting a shopping cart unless you dont mind donating the dollar you deposit to the bums waiting outside when you are done. Weekday mornings are the best time to go there especially if you can use the self checkouts.

While it is still a Superstore, this is a pretty fantastic store. They have an entire frozen food section devoted to veggie meat products(chicken strips, veggie burgers, and the like). And President’s Choice Veggie meat products are top notch. I couldn’t find any of these products at the superstore on Calgary Trail. The produce also looked halfway decent, unlike a number of Superstores. I bought a pomegranate for $ 1.47. And they had large, gorgeous onions — not quite as great or sweet as the one I bought at the farmer’s market a couple of weeks ago, but better than I expect from Superstore. And it’s located just steps from the Clareview LRT, and therefore relatively convenient for those without cars. The only downside was about a 5 minute wait in line to check out — but the cashier was very friendly at least.

Great prices, most things a lot cheaper than Safeway. Even my organic cereal is «cheap» compared to other stores. Excellent selection of ethnic foods. Checkout lines are always terribly slow, even during less busy times(Wednesday morning for example). Someone always seems to be having an issue. Forget about going on the weekends. There are a few self-checkouts, but I’ve had problems with them, too. Love Joe clothes. Check back often as they seem to get new stuff frequently. PC Points… meh. I much prefer Air Miles or Aeroplan.

Easily one of the busiest grocery stores in the city primarily because it services an area of the city full of apartments, townhouses, etc. with a large number of budget conscious young families and immigrants. You would be hard pressed to find a time when this store isn’t busy, except perhaps in the early morning hours on weekdays. In terms of the quality of the store itself, the product selection is the same as all other superstores. I didn’t find it to be dirty and its cleanliness is probably on par with the other superstores. Probably the worse part of the store is the design of the fruit and vegetable section, it is an extremely busy and cluttered area of the store and frankly unpleasant! If you are concerned about prices, the superstore cannot be beat, especially in comparison with its pricier neighbours such as Safeway & Sobeys. Both of those retailers are close by but not nearly as busy.

Now, you might think I’m crazy, but Superstore has become a fashion outlet staple for me. This is not a joke: there are surprises to be had at the Superstore, girls. Think the clothing department here has nothing to offer but white tees and mom jeans? Think again! Superstore is officially my sole provide of high quality tights(only $ 6), adorable patterned knee-high socks(marked down as low as $ 2), belts($ 7) and fashion jewelry($ 2-$ 15). I’ve also found great dresses, cute ruffle tees, and itsy-bitsy teeny-weeny yellow-polka-dot bikini bathing suits. Whatever you’re looking for, wherever you plan to shop, go to Superstore first! You won’t be disappointed! Nevertheless, it is important to keep in mind your shopping in a building that’s a cross between a grocery store, department store, and industrial warehouse. The staff are not going to dote on you and bring you different sizes. The lines at the check out are long. You will not leave with a cute bag that has bright colored tissue paper peeking out of the top. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t go!
