We came here on a Sunday for a surprise engagement party brunch. It wasn’t in the main restaurant, but in the banquet hall. The layout was perfect for our party of about 15. There was lots of room for all of us to sit, and the décor was lovely. The three round tables of food offered everything you could think of. Pancakes, bacon, sausage, Eggs Benedict, salads, yorkshire puddings, roast beef, pasta, and skewered chicken. Absolutely deeeeelicious! The gentleman that was taking care of us that morning made sure the coffee was hot, the water was cold, and that our plates were cleared up. There was also no rush from anyone to get up and go. I believe the newly engaged couple has booked this venue for the reception in August 2017 so I can’t wait to go back.

This golf course has been regarded as one of the best in the city for many years. this year they are suffering from really bad winter kill on their greens. I have golfed the course 3 times this year, and while the greens are improving they are still not anywhere near what they need to be on a course of this calibre. Hopefully they can get things back on track, because it’s not worth nearly $ 100 per round to play on sand greens.

I recently took a series of group golf lessons at Redtail Landing with their head teaching guy, Dave Lengyel, who is registered with the CPGA. I’m not much of a golfer, but I’m much more of one after just a few hours of putting and driving with Dave. I highly recommend him — not only because he is an exceptional teacher and jam-packs lessons with tips and insights that instantly change the way you look at the game and play — he has a genuine love of this game that stretches over decades. He’s a pleasure to learn from and he made the lessons fast-paced, challenging and fun! I can’t say much about the course, as I haven’t played it, although from what I’ve heard it’s some pro terrain that will make you work your game pretty hard. Redtail’s training greens, I can say, were topnotch and we were given free water and carts for the duration of our lesson. Service: excellent. Too bad the course is by the airport — a 30-minute drive from downtown. We paid $ 140 each for a group of six, which included five lessons with Dave. As I’m virtually a beginner, the amount of one-on-one instruction I got was perfect. He moved around the group, gave us each pointers and kept things moving forward — without overwhelming us. I wouldn’t hesitate to sign up for another round of lessons with Dave. He’s a busy guy so try to book with him early in the year. In the fall he is more flexible. His e-mail is
