Rocky Mountain Soap Company is a bath and body boutique which advertises the use of natural/non-toxic ingredients in their products. My opinion of this shop is mixed. In their favor, they carry a couple products which I absolutely love, including body butter that comes in a deodorant-like stick for easy application(great for travel/at the gym). Though I didn’t check every product, they seem to be very transparent about their ingredients(e.g., listing what is in their fragrance), which I think is great. OK, so the downside. I buy so-called«natural» products because I’ve found that they are less likely to contain things that irritate my skin(e.g., certain pigments, some fragrance ingredients). Unfortunately one of their soaps gave me a rash(the first one I bought), so I am afraid to purchase other soaps here. The second thing is that I think they use too much chemophobic fear-mongering to promote their products. The in-store and online advertisements follow these lines, and last I visited the shop was featuring copies of the book«There’s Lead in Your Lipstick» by Gillian Deacon, which is basically a repetitive rant about avoiding«chemicals», in which the author fails to apply high school chemistry/physics to her subject matter. I get why this sells, but I don’t agree with the message. Blanket statements about synthetic chemicals being toxic, or natural chemicals being good for you, and so on are incredibly misleading and take advantage of consumers’ legitimate concerns about what goes into the products they use. RMSC sells some really fantastic products, I just don’t agree with their method of advertising, so for now, I’m out.

I love Rocky Mountain Soap! The staff is always so friendly and helpful, without being overbearing and the products are amazing. My personal favourite soaps are pumpkin(great if you have dry skin, I don’t but love how gentle it is on my skin), and seaweed and spearmint(its in one soap… smells minty and again very gentle on the skin). Their lip glosses are nice as well.

This place underwent a bit of a renovation and while I think the new décor looks a bit odd(reminds me of a children’s toy store) it is still a pretty cool place to shop. As far as I know they have always been about selling all natural products but with the renos also came a shift to promote the anti toxin movement even stronger through store advertisements as well as email. I noticed the staff seems a bit more educated about toxins and chemicals now which it is pretty smart on the part of the company. The better educated your staff is the better the position they are in to pass that knowledge along to the customer and generate more interest in the products. I came in specifically to see if they carried shampoo that wouldn’t burn like the fires of Hades if it got in my eye. The young lady that greeted me was very friendly and helpful with finding what I needed. The bottle was a wee bit pricey at $ 14.00 but I was willing to make the sacrifice to get chemical free shampoo. Regardless of what your needs are whether they be skin, hair, or something for baby they seem to have a product for every need and preference. I will probably be back the next time I am in Southgate for the conditioner and coming from someone as frugal as me that really says something!

This store offers natural bath and body products. I will be honest I don’t really have a problem with regular soaps like dove but I checked this place out anyways. I guess they have items that can help you out therapeutically with their healing qualities. If you aren’t satisfied with a product they offer you a money back guarantee. They also do gift baskets but I wouldn’t be impressed.

I have been suffering with the lovely itchy red bumps on the back of my arms and decided to try something more natural and head to this fabulous store. The lady there was so helpful! She listened to exactly what was going on with my arms, and what I had tried, then she offered me a package of pumpkin soap to wash my arms with and then to apply beeswax to my arms. It comes like a deodorant stick! love it! She told me if this product does not work for me, I can bring it back for a full refund! I went home and it has completely cleared my skin and taken that awful itch away! Go to this place! They have tons of stuff to try! They also do wedding favors! Very cute and unique!

After visiting the Rocky Mountain Soap Co., my boyfriend and I had to grab something to eat straight away, because all the delectable smells in the shop were teasing our senses. Everything smelled absolutely wonderful, and not too heavy as it might in other soap shops. They make their own soaps and lotions, and have their own small skincare line as well. I loved their candles! I made a point of smelling each one. They’re all fragrant but don’t have that overpowering scent that makes your nose itch. And the combinations they use for their candles are different too, like citrus cucumber. Because none of their products are big or bulky, they make excellent stocking stuffers for anyone on your list who likes natural soaps and other pampering products. I think I’ll have to come back here soon to get something for my mom. And yes, something for me too. Prices range from average to a little pricey, but not too much.
