This is a very overdue review, but as I constantly receive junk mail from Shaw encouraging me to sign up with them, it made me want to share my horrendous experience. My partner and I were with shaw for 3 years. We had so many problems with them, and every time we needed it resolved we had to make our way to the West End office and sit in line for long periods of time. We moved to Vancouver and the guy who set up our service, bolted a piece of hardware into the closet, without telling us it was to be removed and returned in addition to the router and such, so we received a bill after we moved back to Alberta. But the worst of all is the sheer ignorance of those Shaw staff at the Southgate mall location, who threatened our finances immensely… We decided to go with a different provider after the slimy service we repeatedly received over the years, so we closed our account which had a large bill remaining. We went directly to the South location, returned our equipment and paid our balance on our debit card. Well, we were sure surprised to receive a letter demanding collection of the balance which we had already paid for nearly $ 800.00(we watch a lot of movies). We also moved and had to update our address with them several times before they could finally get it straight. We told them we had paid it, in person, but they stated the had NORECORD of such payments. Unreal. They actually told us to go to our bank, and request a document(I now forget what its called) to prove that we had paid it, and we have 3 business days before it would be submitted to collections and therefor affect our credit!!! We had to take an entire day away from work to deal with the matter. The document was an investigation that could take days to receive. Shaw refused to allow us more time for their idiotic screw up. We went down to the store and told the SAMEPERSON who took our payment months ago, that she needed to check her records again. As you can imagine, we were not happy. We asked to speak to the manager, which took over an hour to locate. Still nothing. We went home to discuss how we could work things out because we were running out of ideas. We went back, to argue obviously and fight for our money. Turns out, the very intelligent woman who took our payment, put in the wrong phone number, and that is why there was no record under our name of the payment. ALLTHATOVER A PHONENUMBER. We didn’t even receive an apology for the hours lost and day of work lost. If you do go with Shaw, keep track of everything, speak slowly to the staff, and ask to see that your information has been typed properly into the system and always keep all of your receipts, because you never know.
