This location is great; busy but not too busy… staff is great, food is always good! In that part of town, there aren’t a lot of dine in options. So it’s nice to have a State & Main there.

Not as good as I’d hoped. I suppose there had to be a reason why the wait at Browns Socialhouse accross the street had a 2 hour wait… and State & Main only had a 30min wait for our party of 7. By this measure… the masses were already telling me something. I saying that… it wasn’t inherently bad. Just unimpressive in a world of similar offerings. We were thankfully able to squeeze in around the bar and indulge in some reasonsbly priced beverages. We waited for the entire 30min quote. Alas, they are unable to physically move their tables together, so we had to wait for a table big enough for our party to open up. The servers and bartenders were friendly enough. Once seated, we quickly decided on our dishes. They all came out in a reasonable time. Pretzel sticks were quite tastey. But our mains recieved mixed fealings. I tried the Chorizo Lasagna. It was quite boring. Frankly… BP’s makes better pasta than this. A friend had a steak sandwich and was unimpressed with both the small serving and the cut of the meat. All in all… our experience was ok. but not good enough to warrant returning.

All around great experience. Bartender was nice and our server was awesome. Drinks were just a bit too strong(I know boo hoo).

This review is only for this specific location. I’ve gone to the spruce grove and southgate locations and have loved it. This time, I walked into the restaurant with my mother and my bf, and the host only offered a table to me and my bf. Not impressed right from the beginning. I ordered a tea that came out in a dirty mug. Not stained, fully dirty with coffee down the side, something sticky on the handle and lipstick stains on it. My Mom ordered the Vietnamese sub and it was disgusting. Smaller than the size of your hand and the meat tasted like it had gone bad. My bf ordered the steak sandwich and asked for it it be packed up when it wasn’t finished and the server threw it out. Our drinks were never refreshed and it took 30 minutes to get out bill after we were finished eating. It was a slow Sunday night with only 2 other tables in the whole place. I’ve had coworkers tell me not go to to this location, now I understand why. So very disappointed.

Went for Xmas party — brutal!!! Meals came out one at a time from different staff that had no idea! Last person got his steak 20 minutes after we were all done! Food was poor to mediocre.

Came here before seeing a movie with the boyfriend and already had my mind set on ordering the French dip as I did when I went to their other location in Southgate. Upon ordering it, I was informed that they were all out, would’ve been better to inform us of what they DID have because after my boyfriend ordered his chicken tenders, a different server/manager came and told us that they didn’t have chicken tenders either. my thoughts were now at «okay, so what did you actually have? «the server/manager then informed me that if I wanted to change my order back to the French dip then I could because they finished cutting more roast beef. my boyfriend ended up ordering the pork slider with fries and a salad, it also came with honey slaw. I ordered the French dip with the french fries and potato bacon soup. Our fries were great and my soup was much better than the poor excuse of soup they have at Southgate. our bill came to 29 dollars after a 10% discount from the manager. It didn’t put a damper on our night and the discount was nice. The manager/server came to check on us regularly to make sure we were still enjoying our food which was also a plus.

Cant really give you a full review based on one stop. My wife and I went there for a date night. Had fun with the #statestache coasters. She had a classic ceaser which she said was delicious and I had the state blonde lager. She ordered the fish tacos which i was reading in a previous review… she had the exact same experience lol. she ordered it without cilantro and it came with cilantro also it wasnt good but it wasnt bad… I had the curry shimp bowl… we decided that this is the okayest place we’ve been in a while.

Went first time to this location… very slow service… nothing was done properly… food was not bad though… chicken sandwich with avacado was good… however service needs to improve big time… made a comeback in the end by giving a coupon for next visit, as they realized the mistakes…

It’s great to see more restaurants pop up in Windermere, especially ones that aren’t fast food. State & Main has at least one other location in Edmonton, and is owned by the same company that owns Original Joe’s. I like Original Joe’s, so I finally made a stop at State & Main a few weeks ago. «A-OK» is a pretty accurate description of the food, with above average service and atmosphere. There’s a small outdoor patio(packed on the warm day we had dinner) and a large interior, with lots of TVs for watching sports. It isn’t at all formal, and is definitely a restaurant and not a pub. As far as food goes, my dad couldn’t stop raving about his Teriyaki Rice Bowl, and he cleaned his bowl out. My husband got a chicken Caesar salad; it was pretty small for a dinner salad, but he liked the real pieces of bacon and cheese. I thought I would try the fish tacos — they weren’t terrible, but they were so boring and so tasteless. I ordered them without the cilantro garnish, and they came full of cilantro anyway. Our server asked if I wanted them remade, but I was too hungry to wait for a new meal. The fish had no flavor, and the only thing I tasted was the chopped iceberg lettuce and the cilantro I wasn’t able to pick out(YUCK). Spiciness? Aioli? Taste? Bueller? State & Main isn’t a bad option for an easy dinner out in the southwest, but don’t go expecting to be blown away by great food.
