so I just reread my harsh opinion of subway from a couple years ago and I have to give them a bit of a break after their recent chicken breast/turkey sale they had on their subs the past couple months here. my wife is always looking for ‘healthy options’ when she has take out so since we moved to Edmonton and are living about 5 blocks from a local subway now, it was inevitable we would give them another chance after all. my wife really fell in love with the turkey subs being put on sale… and having them toasted really made them better in her opinion. I guess we had these subs maybe 30 times over a couple months in January and febuary and they were almost always quite good for the standards of what we were expecting going into this. I was mostly ordering meatball subs for myself. my complaint is that around 33% of the time when I was ordering at around 10pm when I was done my shift at work… the meatballs had run out and were unavailable. im not sure how difficult it is to warm up a few more meatballs but it was very irritating to me how often the meatballs were unavailable. some sort of bad planning/management of the meatballs was going on and because I was going in 3 – 4 times a week at least they should have caught on how often they were losing business not having meatballs available. luckily im not as big a fan of subway as my wife is and I was able to stop at the nearby mcdonalds without too much extra effort to get a big mac on the nights subway let me down. still… all-in-all… the sale was a huge success and subway deserves this updated review from me. im not sure we would go back very often for their regular price on their subs because quizo’s sends out coupons so often and are a lot cheaper in this market while making a better sub too imho but having a subway so close to where I live is an advantage too so I will probably keep my eye out for future deals here and visit them on occasion.

I’ve gotta agree with my compadre Michael J’s quick tip: this is the classiest Subway restaurant I have ever been to! I wonder if this used to be some kind of fancy café that went bankrupts. Upon entering, you are greeted with tons of brick and a sweeping staircase that meets from two sides to take you to the sandwich ordering station. And, I gotta say, i was feeling good after gobbling down this sub. I was ultra hungry and that food-long sure did satisfy. Fresh ingredients(or as fresh as I find Subway ingredients to be — I’m always iffy on the texture of their lettuce) and friendly service.
