Donuts. All kinds of donuts, baked goods, sweets, sandwiches, coffee… A neighbourhood staple of the Beverly area, the coffee shop smells of amazingness. Even late in the evening, the shelves were stocked quite well with donuts. Fresh too! Take Five is usually the front runner for when the husband is having a donut craving. So good. You can take my word for it, or go try it yourself. I suggest trying it yourself. Because, donuts.

My #1 donut shop in Edmonton. Way better than timmy’s. Great selection and prices.

What a great little spot! The food was fresh, the soup and chili were both delicious and full of flavour, and the donut/cheese tea biscuits tasted just like you would make them at home. What we had: vegetable and beef barley soup, chili, cheese tea biscuits, ham sandwich, honey glazed donut. Although this place might be a little rough around the edges, it’s definitely worth stopping if you’re in the area and looking for a light snack/lunch!

Like the coffee, invest in better cups-I can’t say this enough its advertising when people walk around with their take out cups. When the lady with blonde hair makes my BLT she loads the bacon and makes my boyfriend and I very happy. When the young girl does it it tastes like a lettuce sandwich. I usually won’t buy it in Sundays because of that. My friend recommended this place to me.

Don’t let the looks fool you — it may look like an early 90s coffee shop but it’s got character. Fresh donuts made in store? Check. Coffee that tastes great? Check. All the police come here so it’s saying something.

This is the best doughnut shop I have visited in years. They make them fresh on site. The coffee is good, and food is tasty. Prices are reasonable. Why would you go to Timmie’s?

I actually love the coffee here. It’s close to my house and the donuts are always fresh. The breakfast sandwich is by far the show stealer! Check it out!

Take Five is an interesting coffee/donut shop located in the Beverly neighbourhood. It is close to a couple of good eats, so if you still have the stomach room, drop by and grab some fresh donuts. That’s what I did after my lunch at Million Thai restaurant. This is the definition of an old school diner, although the interior is surprisingly neat and tidy. Just as it says on their sign, the donuts are fresh! They have some pretty good and cheap daily specials — you can get a soup, donut and coffee for $ 4.99. Not to shabby. — Half a dozen($ 4.99) — there were about 20 or so different types of donuts to choose from. So much selection! I can’t even remember which ones I picked out now. I tried the apple fritter, honey glazed and coconut(it was like a cake donut with coconut sprinkles), two chocolate glazed(one was honey while the other was maple) and a cruller. I didn’t get to try any of the chocolate glazed ones as they were devoured instantly, always a good sign. The rest were all light and airy. My two favourites were the apple fritter and cruller. My least favourite was surprisingly the honey glazed. It lacked any real flavour — pretty mild. Other than that, everything was good and you could tell they were made fresh, in-house. Check them out if you’re in the area! It’s definitely out of the way but it’s worth stopping by to pick up a dozen donuts(only $ 8.99). D’ohhhhh.

Stepping into Take Five feels like you’ve left Edmonton and walked into a coffee shop in Mundare or Oyen or some other blink-and-you-miss-it small town. It was a much older crowd, although ‘crowd’ may not be the best word as it definitely wasn’t packed. I bet if I went in at the same time every Saturday morning, the exact same people would be there nine times out of ten. I had a donut, chili and hot chocolate which was a special. It was reasonably priced and the chili tasted home cooked. The donut was pretty good too. I’ll definitely go back and maybe one day, everyone will know my name.

The doughnuts at Take Five are better than those at Tim’s(although that isn’t hard to do). Stop by if you’d like a doughnut and you happen to find yourself in the neighbourhood.

If you’re looking for unpretentious sandwiches, a decent cup of coffee, or some fresh donuts in northeast Edmonton, this is the place to be. The donuts at Take 5 are fresh and, I believe, made in-house. They taste better than Tim Horton’s, in my opinion, and are slightly less expensive. The space is small and feels very«small town,» but it’s a decent place to spend half an hour with a cup of coffee. The place is mostly patronized by a crowd seniors who seem to nurse a single cup of coffee and hangout for hours chatting, which adds to the small town feel. I doubt that Take 5 will ever be a regular haunt for me, but it’s a decent place to drop in for a coffee and donut after spending an afternoon at Rundle Park.

This is a small independant coffee/donut shop in Beverly. This location used to be an old Country Style Donuts franchise, before that chain went out of business in the 90s. I went in here for the first time today for breakfast. I ordered some bagels w/cream cheese and a few donuts with some coffee. The wait time wasn’t bad, considering their was only one worker their and the price was about 30 cents lower than a comparable order at Tim Hortons(TH). The bagels were hot and delicious with the cream cheese. However the donuts were on the stale side and my coffee cup had grounds on the bottom of it. The menu and selection here are no where near as diverse as TH, but the prices are a little bit lower. I like fact that you can get refills here for only 75 cents if you use their mugs. Too many coffee cups in our landfills methinks. The restaurant lay out is kind of cramped but is for the most part clean. And I didn’t use the washroom but I saw the cashier give another fellow a key to access it. The clientel here are about 95% decrepit old people who seem to spend hours nursing a single cup of coffee and shottin’ the breeze. I’d only come here if I was old person on a fixed income with no wheels. Other than that — forget it. This donut shop is not worth a visit, and you’ll be much better off driving to a TH or Starbucks for your cup of joe or to get something for your sweet tooth.
