We came here with a Groupon. Got a reservation for 5:45 on a Friday. It was the only time available on short notice. It was a rainy day and the ceiling was dripping in one spot into a bucket. It’s kind of small, but it has a romantic vibe. Dimly lit with candles. There was one front guy hosting, checking coats, taking orders, serving and bar tending. There were two guys in the kitchen. We were seating right away. We had a quick look at the menu and ordered the dolmas, Greek salad, chicken and shrimp skewers and patatas bravas. Everything was delicious, but my husband did not care for the shrimp. Everything had garlic and the there was quite a lot of Spanish paprika. We lived in Barcelona for 3 months, so we kinda know tapas. These are the Italian version, I guess. Bathrooms are clean. With a $ 40 bottle of wine it came to $ 109. Groupon was for $ 50. I’ll probably come back because I’m interested in sampling more of the menu.

We made the error of wanting an after work drink … as two single women on Valentine’s day. Oops. Because of the nature of the day, the 4-top tables had been split into a number of intimate 2-tops. So intimate, we couldn’t fit between the tables to get out. I understand why, but it was uncomfortable being that close to other people as well. Being celiac and needing gluten-free food, it’s hard to review the offerings, however, the menu was short and very few items were safe for me to sample. Sommersby cider, served by the bottle, and billed with domestic at $ 6.50 was a little steep. Portions were small, we were a little surprised. I get tapas is small plates, but… I’ve had tapas elsewhere. We ordered the chorizo — it had nice wine sauce, but the meat was rather chewey. Prosciutto wrapped boccicino had a great fresh tomato and basil sauce. Our table was a little too small to accommodate the plates and our beverages, it was probably good we were just stopping by for a short visit. Service is attentive. Nice martini list. Keeping the menu & wine list short. Probably a smart move for a new business. It’s a neighbourhood restaurant, owned and staffed by a lovely young gentleman. Agreed, it is a little on the expensive side.

Came here on a LivingSocial voucher during lunch hour. Was surprised(and kind of scared) to see the place deserted at 1245pm. I will chalk this up to the later lunch hour that we took… We ordered the antipasto board($ 29) and had a sandwich. The antipasto board came with some salami, prosciutto, smoked pork loin, and 3 different cheeses(a creamy feta, rosemary-olive oil edam?, and a third one that escapes me), a small dish of olives, and 4 stalks of pickled asparagus. The«dipping sauces» as advertised on the menu was a wholegrain mustard and an aioli sauce that was pretty bland. We were asked if we wanted crostinis to go with it, which we had assumed would come with the board.(luckily they did not charge us for it, or I would not have been impressed) My brother commented on how the charcuterie board at another downtown restaurant was much better for the same price. My brother’s sandwich was $ 10; and it looks to be a pretty good deal, it was a large sandwich, and he said it was«pretty good», and spicy as advertised. The option to add a salad or the patatas bravas are an additional $ 3. Service was a little slow, considering we were the only table there, but there was only one person working, and he was serving/cooking/prepping. Unfortunately, this place is nothing special. The food was average, at best. With so many other places nearby(Burger Priest, Cactus Club), I don’t know if this place will end up lasting for very long. It’s worth checking out if you’re finding a deal for it. Otherwise, for regular price, there is definitely better out there.

The food here is really good, the wine is too. The menu however is so small that it doesn’t really feel like tapas. If this was the only Tapas place in the city It would be amazing, but walk 5 blocks down the road and go to Tzin, where its cheaper. My bill came to the same at both places at Tzin I got so much more food for what I paid. I enjoyed the food and the wine far Better at Tzin as well. I would like to go back for lunch where they do Panini’s that sounds delicious. Come to think of it The Wine Room is about the same distance away as Tzin and is amazing. As good as it is at Tapa Vino there are simply better options in the city.

Came here with a groupon and I’m glad we did. I would have been annoyed spending full price for what we got. We had the vegetarian board and it was definitely lacking. A few paper thin sliced peices of cheese that I recognize from Costco, some hummus and strips of pita bread, canned artichoke hearts, sliced cucumber and pepper and a few Spinach and cheese puffs which I let my husband have because I felt guilty eating any. It definitely needs some work for $ 29. Even just some olives and bread. We ordered it with the patatas bravas which I found bland and there was no salt or pepper on the table to season. We went straight to dq for dessert because we didn’t feel satisfied. There were a few affordable bottles of wine which was nice. The tables are so close together you have to whisper unless you want the table next to you to listen in. Unfortunately the table beside us spent the meal stating the obvious deficiencies with their meal as well. I think it will get better, but they are brand new and have a few kinks to work out with the menu.

I always meant to go to this spot when it was Niche, but I didn’t get a chance to go before it closed. I finally made it there for Tapa Vino, though, and it was definitely a good experience. The servers were great, the wine was excellent(and well priced), and the food was tasty. We had the vegetarian board and chicken skewers. The spinach pies/pastries were definitely my favorite part of the veggie board. We will be back again.
