My wife and I use to come here once a month. The food was never that special, but the cheese cake was great. Tonight being valentines and not having planned anything because we celebrated on Friday I decided to call them on the off chance they had an opening. We got lucky, they were not busy and we could come right in. This was at 5. I asked if she was sure we could get in and she assured me again it wasn’t busy. We arrived at 5:40 and were told that it would be over 2 hours but that we could sit in the lounge. We decided fine, lets stay in the lounge. Then the host saw our baby carrier and told us that for liability reason we couldn’t hold our baby and eat because the chairs are too high and they would be liable if something happened, so we had to leave. On the way out the host thought he should give us one more jab and told use, «you know it’s Valentine’s Day right?». We have never been lied to and treated so badly by a restaurant before. We will never go back.

Went for dinner with my mom and dad. I had the hippie sandwich(added chicken) with Caesar salad and fries. The sandwich was good, only complaint would be the chicken. It was just a huge piece stabbed in the sandwich which made it difficult to eat and hard to get chicken in every bit. It would be nicer if it was a cut a bit thinner. The Caesar salad was also a bit over dressed, fries were good. My dad had the fettuccine alfredo and my mom had the ginger beef and they both enjoyed their meals. We also had a couple starters, the the nice little salad and the Tuscan flat bread and both were amazing! I just love the nice little salad, the dressing is delicious and I get it every time. Our waiter was kind, but could use a bit more time with the menu. He didn’t know the wine menu to the point that he was unsure if what we ordered was even white or red(based on the name). I ordered a Cabernet Sauvignon… That all being said, I love his place and I will definitely return. I’ve tried a lot in this menu and my favourites are the nice little salad, the café chips, the friend dill pickles, the Tuscan flat bread, the little ribs, lettuce wraps.

We visited in early October as part of the Unilocal Staycation #WildWestYEG weekend. What a highlight to be invited to the Cheesecake Café. Yes, I can say that now, I’ve been educated — gluten free friends, if you haven’t visited in the past few years, it’s time. I must admit that I haven’t been following the modernization of the Chesecake Café menu these last few years. I’m very happy to report that YES celiacs and gluten free diners can eat here now! And not just salad. Nope. Food. Real food and DESSERT! Yes, my celiac friends, there IS a cheesecake safe for you. I am happy to report that they had never had cheesecake decorating party before now and you would never have known it the day we visited! They handled the enthusiastic Unilocalers decorate their creations smoothly and efficiently. There were some absolutely amazing cakes decorated, and I have to say, ganache, salted caramel topping, sprinkles galore — even medallions custom made for us were absolutely *amazing*. I am impressed that this gem of a restaurant is founded by an Edmonton family, and still family owned and run. While we were having such a great time decorating our cheesecakes, the founder popped by — and as it turns out knew our host(neighbours!) from Edmonton Destination West Hotels. I can’t comment on the food… yet. After meeting everyone, learning that there is food to eat, and thanks to Kristin K’s review — I’m looking forward to the Calamari(please still be on the menu!) and other treats!

I went to The Cheesecake Café as part of a Unilocal Event — Unilocal Staycation #WildWestYEG. I haven’t been to a cheesecake restaurant in a loooong time. I naively thought this restaurant was part of the big American chain«Cheesecake Factory» but I was so wrong. At the beginning of the event we met the owner and she described its history as a locally owned Edmonton family business. It started over 25 years ago in their Calgary location and has been going ever since and expanded to Edmonton, Medicine Hat and Spruce Grove locations. They focus on using quality local ingredients and they care about what they are serving. I was very impressed to hear their history because I just didn’t realize they were a local Made in Alberta success. As part of our event we had the opportunity to decorate our own pre-made cheesecakes! If you want to book a great party this is a great idea. We probably had close to 30+ people at our event and it went very smoothly. They provide an already baked cheesecake and all of the fixin’s to decorate it up. We had a blast at our event. The cheesecake I ended up with(the marble variety) was exceptionally good! My decorating may not have been near as nice as anything they put out though but it was a great time. If you are looking for a great place for dessert I highly recommend them! I am looking forward to going back and trying some of their non-dessert options and reporting back.

First off, this is NOT the Cheesecake Factory. Don’t make that mistake. You’re not going to get mass market food here. What you are going to get is a locally owned restaurant that cares about what it’s serving to you. Everything is fresh, tasty and hearty. I went there recently for a Unilocal Staycation event wher ethey let us decorate our own mini-cheesecakes to take home… and that thing didn’t last long. The cheesecake was DEVOURED in no time. So amazingly good. Rich, creamy and everything a cheesecake should be.

I am basing my review on the cheesecake as this is what I got to taste during my Unilocal Staycation adventure last weekend. I just finished off the last piece last night as I sliced it and froze each piece individually to enjoy :-) I am also basing this review on a wonderful piece of information that if you don’t know, here it is: The restaurant DECANTS its red wines when you order them :-) For the Staycation, we were invited by the owners to experience the restaurant, NOT to be confused with the US franchise, the Cheesecake FACTORY… this is the Cheesecake CAFE, a franchise born in Edmonton, AB with locations in different cities in AB :-) The staff was very personable and helpful, and answered all questions and queries. I got a copy of the menu and am looking forward to coming to actually have a whole meal… and making sure I have room for the cheesecake which was wonderfully creamy without being too soft and NOT sugary sweet, rather ever so slightly«cheese» tasting… :-)

After my visit here the other day I am a fan. I have been in in past years and found that the food was amazing with a huge menu of stuff to choose from, but the service had been abysmal. I’m not sure what has changed but the service seemed great. I had a traditional cheesecake with salted caramel topping and it was very tasty. They have great brunch menu for the weekend and can accommodate even the trickiest of dietary concerns. It was cool to learn that they are an independently owned Canadian company that has been in the same family ownership since it began. I love to support businesses like this so give them a try.

I’m all about the traditional cheesecake without any fancy flavours and mixtures in the cake itself and the Cheesecake café gives me exactly what I need! Of course there are some amazing toppings which can enhance each cheesecake but I really enjoy the taste of the actual cake. They’ve been doing this for over 25 years and I can taste their experience in every bite. I’m really happy that they give you an option to decorate your own cake to order because we are all unique and have our own preferences. They have a great weekend brunch menu and can accommodate anyone with allergies to gluten or issues with sugar. Probably the coolest part is that you can contact them and request a party in the café. They can offer different options but make sure to ask about having a cake decorating party where everyone has the chance to decorate a 7inch cake with whatever toppings they want. Prices will vary depending on the number of people and the type of toppings. I’m also very happy to know that this is a Canadian company established, owned and run by Canadians.

Great place for lunch or dinner for any occasion. Not insanely fancy or expensive. A lovely and diverse drink, dinner and dessert menu! Obviously the best part of the whole place is its cheesecake, which is made daily and fresh in-house. I had the most fantastic chocolate milkshake — and to finish it off I had the Oreo cheesecake. So creamy and rich. If you are a cheesecake lover like myself or want to try it for the first time– make the cheesecake factory the place to be!

It’s been 4 years since my last review and time for an update! I’ve been here many times since my last review. And except for one time with poor service, it’s been great. The last time I came for lunch was to celebrate my friend’s birthday. Our server was new and he was being trained by another server who was great at answering our menu questions and bringing cream and sugar for my friend’s coffee. I had the lobster and prawn clubhouse and it was great with lots of seafood for $ 17. My friend had the wonton soup but sent it back because she found it too salty. The broccoli and cheese soup she had, she liked. She ordered a slice of carrot cake to enjoy but it was too much and she had to bring some of it home. I got 2 pieces of cheesecake to bring home, one for me and one of my husband. I can never finish a full piece so it’s 2 desserts in 1! I also came for an event where we got to decorate cheesecakes and bring home. I loved the variety of toppings they had for us. It was so much fun! No matter what, the outside looks like, I know the cheesecake will taste delicious. Can’t wait to try a piece!

I am writing this review enthusiastically after attending a Unilocal-related event involving cake decorating on a Saturday afternoon. First off, the staff at Cheesecake Café are exceptional! From being greeted upon entry, to meeting owner of the Café(yes! It’s locally-owned!!), everything about the staff was friendly and professional and fun! But the highlight of my visit(and i’m sure the rest of us who attended), was how they generously gave each of us an entire 7″ cheesecake of our choice(original, marble, or white chocolate raspberry), to decorate with the spread of goodies they had laid out for us. We all had such a great time working our creative minds decorating our cheesecakes with different colored icing, different types of chocolate ganache, toppings galore such as mini oreos, gummies, chocolate crunch balls, nuts, jelly beans, blackberries, raspberries and strawberries to name a few. With so much encouragement from staff who commented on everyone’s decorating, it was fun to see the final results behind everyone’s imagination! Cheesecake Café is a local, Edmonton based restaurant that has been around for over 25 years! They believe in fresh, quality ingredients and attention to detail in food preparation. Their desserts, particularly their famous cheesecakes, are prepared each day right there in the Café, by two full time staff! And did you know each cheesecake uses 2 lbs of cheesecake?! Yup, nor I! I can’t comment on their food itself as I have yet to try my work of art, or try anything off the menu, but I will be back as I believe in supporting locally-owned businesses, especially ones that believe in good service and local quality ingredients!

The Lemon rasp swirl was very flavorful and you can tell that they use a lot of cream cheese in their cakes. I took the last orange cream café car which was alright. The white chocolate was too sweet, but the inside didn’t taste bad. Their soups is one the thing that I really like. I think they should renovate this place a little, just because I was sitting on a ripped chair.

Absolutely filthy restaurant, incredibly slow and server who seems to not have a clue, though seems overly twitchy and keeps disappearing. Besides being filthy, the food was cold. We did get a free dessert out of it(whoohoo). We asked for the bill 20 minutes after our plates were cleared and she barked back that she would bring it with our desserts to go when she can as its busy(honestly at that point we really could care less about desserts). When we attempted to pay with a credit card, the server said the wifi doesn’t work and proceeded to pick up the terminal and walk away with our card to pick up a signal. We didn’t see her for a few minutes, she went to another table to help them and then finally came back with the terminal and said it didn’t work. She got another terminal and spoke out loud when keying in the bill amount and attempted to charge is $ 100 over the bill. We said that’s not right and she said it didn’t sound right(duh) and changed it. She disappeared again with the terminal. So, in short… this restaurant is dirty, the food is subpar and the staff is rude. Maybe if they get new management in things will perk up, but we won’t come back. Here’s hoping our credit card wasn’t compromised.

Let’s start by saying that not having to wait for a table on Mother’s Day was a nice change. We were seated right away, but we were only a party of three. After being seated, we waited a decent amount of time for our server to come over. She was attentive throughout the meal, but she was over worked and couldn’t provide the level of service she should have. They needed more staff and better organizational system to give their guests great service instead of mediocre service. To start, we ordered a couple of brunch drinks(Mimosa, Pomegranate Sparkle, and a London Fog), which were priced very reasonably. The drinks came out quickly and were well made and reasonably priced. We also ordered tapas, the stuffed mushrooms and fried pickles. They were both decent but the portions were quite small and I have had better pickles elsewhere. Though, you can’t complain that much when things $ 5.00 a plate. For lunch we had two of the soup, salad, and sandwich trios and an order of lettuce wraps with prawns. All of the entrees were priced at $ 15.00. The trio’s were identical(there are two options for each of the first three listed) broccoli and cheddar soup, a half country club, caesar salad, and homemade chips. The portions were generous and everything was good, but nothing was great. The highlight of my meal were the homemade chips. These entrees were overpriced. Moving on to the lettuce wraps, you can get better elsewhere. They were generic and didn’t have the best sauce. Additionally, the prawns were actually previously frozen shrimp… absolutely tasteless and way too small to be prawns. The debacle was dessert. While the chocolate strawberry cheesecake($ 8.00) was delicious. However, for someone like me who doesn’t care for cheesecake, I looked for other options and decided to order a banana split. What came out looked like a dog had vomited on a plate. The banana split was served in a shallow bowl with three scoops of ice cream buried under a mound of whipped cream and all of the toppings were combined on that mound. I think I took three bites before giving up. What a waste of $ 8.00. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this place for anything but drinks and desserts. You’ll get better mains for the same price or cheaper elsewhere.

I have a love-hate relationship with The Cheesecake Café. I frigging LOVE the White Chocolate Raspberry cheesecake. It’s my crack. Seriously. My addiction has caused my waistline to suffer as well. I’ve also tried the Key Lime, Oreo Cookies and Cream, and Rolo cheesecakes. The Key Lime was delicious as well, and not as sweet as the White Chocolate Raspberry. The Oreo Cookies and Cream was way too sweet for me, and let me tell you: I love my sugga baby. I have tried a few of their meals for dinner, but I cant even remember the names of the dishes since it was a while back. I found them all to taste really crappy. I would rather have had Oodle Noodle or Red Lobster, or anything else that’s near by. Customer service is almost non-existent. I remember our dishes taking forever to be prepared, and we would not see our server until we needed to pay. So now, I take my savoury cheesecake to go. Tonight was quite an experience with the girl at the till. I walked in to get some cheesecake to go, and she was busy doing something. I understand, she’s busy, but she could at least look at me and tell me it will be a few moments or that she will call someone else etc. Nada. I just stood there watching her for 7 minutes. Meanwhile, a bunch of other workers were behind her talking and doing whatever they were doing. Not one person acknowledged me. If I can find another place that has such delicious cheesecake, I would definitely go there since I don’t like to be ignored. Oh! A new thing I also enjoy here is their«Those Little Cookies». They have a basket filled with them to sample, and little bags you can buy for a toonie. Yum! I only go here for the cheesecake, so I definitely recommend them for that. For a nice place to enjoy a tasty meal, I would recommend you look elsewhere.

The Cheesecake Café is a great place to come for a celebration meal or a sweet treat at the end of a long day of shopping. Favourites here for me have included the mussels appetizer(I know, you wouldn’t expect it but they’re great!). I did have an issue on one visit where two closed mussels were served to me but the floor manager took care of the issue quickly and acknowleedged the seriousness of serving closed mussels. The Hippie Sandwich(vegetarian) is phenomenal here and even satisfies my caveman meat eating husband. The calmari appetizer is a smoky and sweet grilled treat. The presentation is unusual for this region and quite awesome. It came with 2LARGE pieces of tubular calmari with partial cuts to make it easier to break or but apart but still approximately 4−5″ in length each. It’s so nice to have Calamari cooked properly that isn’t breaded and friend. Lunch time specials include large and budget friendly portions for soup and salad or soup, salad, and sandwich. Really, check it out! It’s gonna rival any sandwich shop in town. Okay… enough about the seafood… Let’s get to what really matters here, the CHEESECAKE! Of course it’s gonna come down to personal preference but I’m all about the tart — lemon, lime, slightly sweet — I’m in heaven! There are great monthly specials of rotating cheesecake offerings in addition to their standard ones and create your own flavours. On my last visit, I tried the feature Almond Maple Crunch Cheesecake and let me assure you, it was divine! Just sweet enough without being overly sweet. The only thing that would have made it better was a swirl of maple syrup on top or a side of whipped cream. And perhaps it would have been served differently had I eaten it at the table, but I had to switch my order to go after waiting more than 20 minutes from when I ordered it as my group was on a lunch break and we had to scoot back to work. I’ve never had a meal here where I didn’t leave satisfied or happy with my selections. My only complaint can be the service or wait for food at times; it’s really hit or miss as some other reviewers have mentioned. Some items can take awhile to cook, but plating up a slice of cheesecake shouldn’t be a 20 minute timeframe for something already baked and ready to serve. None the less, Cheesecake Café, I adore you and I’ll be seeing you soon.

Cheesecake café is a great place to go for lunch if you catch yourself in the west end. They have a super large menu so there’s usually something for everyone! I love their broccoli cheese soup in a bread bowl! The cheese cake is super delish too! Make sure you save room to share a piece :)

Coming back again to The Cheesecake Café today with my boys for lunch. We all love the food quality at this restaurant, I am quite surprise for the less traffic at the West end Location, food comes a bit slow but we do not mind to wait, the Pasta Raphael with creamy thick sauce chunks of tender chicken slide melting in you month. The Honey Muster chicken top with honey Muster sauce, sauté onion, bacon and Cheddar cheese topping, they sound heavy but since the lunch potion is small adequately for a good healthy diners. I never have a sweet tooth but the Banana split Cheese cake that I am dying in its every single spoon:), the combination in the desert comes with all: Cheese cake, Ice cream, milk chocolate, strawberries, Banana, pineapple and cherries top with homemade waffle. This is a desert even share by 2 people will take me at least an extra hr. run on the treadmill and … worth it:).

I love coming here for happy hour because they have half price tapas! $ 1.50 for a plate of house made chips, $ 2 deep fried pickles? Sign me up! Also, the milkshakes are too die for. I usually just order off off the appetizers menu and save my room for dessert. The portions of cake here are enormous and delicious and also come with whipped cream on the side. There’s a big selection of cheesecakes and some regular cakes(usually there’s carrot) as well. Although the regular cakes have a tendency to be a little bit dry. The service is always slow here and the food takes a while to come, even when the restaurant is empty. So just get all of your ordering out of the way at once if that’s possible.

White chocolate raspberry cake. Smooth, creamy and irresistable. Yum. The food is great too. For a great deal. I think the early menu is awesome 50% off appetizers before 6 pm. Ive had the veal whuch comes with a huge portion of pasta and veggies. Well worth the meal. The steak is always cooked perfectly and is seasoned quite well for a restaurant of this caliber. it could use a sauce but I find if I order some gravy it suffices and the meal is hugely satisfying and tasty. Its super kid friendly. Which I love. Service is hit and miss. Either outstanding or mediocre since sometimes they are just too busy or understaffed at times. But its worth the wait. And for these prices ill wait. Less than $ 15 – 20 a person with plenty of leftovers for lunch… literally good for two people. And to finish the meal off with the best cheesecake ever is a sin I am willing to take bc its sooo good I eat so much that I regret it later on when im on a scale. Lol
