I have been wearing glasses for 20 years and my experience at The Optical Shop was not only the single worst experience purchasing glasses ever, it was also one of the worst consumer experiences I have ever had. Not only are the prices outrageous compared to most places. The staff I dealt with were rude, inept and showed absolutely no pride in their work. I would rather not wear glasses and deal with the massive headache that results from squinting all day than ever deal with them again. I have been to their location on 3 separate occasions to have my glasses adjusted and they just keep getting worse! Expensive. Absolutely horrible customer service. Piss poor knowledge. Awkward. I can not reiterate how poor of an experience this was. Do yourself a favour and go to another eyeglass store.

bad customer service. incompetent staff, had to measure eye pressure twice. First reading was high, second reading was fine. make me doubt if they are competent. Bought a pair of glasses around 650. Ask for the pupil distance to be written on the prescription, was told it was additional charge of $ 50. Doesn’t make sense as they measure this for the new glasses I bought. last time I will be buying my glasses here.

I chose The Optical Shop to purchase my new glasses on the recommendation of a couple of Unilocalers. I needed to buy a new pair ASAP as my prescription changed and my eyes were bothering me. I was also looking for something affordable as I don’t have benefits and didn’t want to break the bank. I went into the store knowing what style I wanted — similar to what I already had. I handed my glasses over to the girl working(Jacqueline) and she pulled a few pairs off the wall for me. I felt comfortable with her right away and we got to chit chatting. I browsed some on my own as well. There was a good selection and lots of styles that I liked. She was honest with me about which pairs looked good and which ones looked not so good. She dealt with all my quirks, like ranking them in order and trying them on multiple times. We looked at sunglasses, we compared pet photos, we did it all. Lucky for me, there was also a sale on when I went into the store. Spend a certain amount, get a certain dollar amount off. The different levels could be combined, so you could get a max of $ 150 off. Most of the frames I looked at were in the $ 219 range. I ended up getting new lenses put into the sunglasses I already have, and my grand total with the discount was $ 339. I was extremely happy with the price. My glasses and sunglasses were ready for pick up the very next day, which also made me extremely happy! My eyes were very relieved. Unfortunately, the girl who was working when I picked them up wasn’t quite as friendly and didn’t explain anything to me. I had to ask questions and she sort of reluctantly answered, like I should have already known the answer. She wasn’t terrible, but there was a stark contrast between her and Jacqueline. They also offer eye exams for the low, low price of $ 60, or free if you buy your glasses there. Before you park at the meter, check the alley. They have a couple of spots for customers behind the store.

I have several pairs of glasses from here(yes, I buy glasses even when I don’t need new glasses). The location is nice, and the store is also very tidy and organized. It’s easy to go in and browse, even if staff are busy and can’t help you right away. The prices of frames here vary, but they have many in the under $ 200 range. Once you are in their customer database, they will mail you post cards a couple times a year with awesome promotions(usually half off frames or something to that effect). The main appeal for me is that they carry many colorful and unique frames at a lower price point. They even let me order from a catalogue in one instance when they didn’t have exactly what I was looking for. The staff are friendly but don’t do much personal chit chat. They are also quite efficient at what they do. This is my first choice when it comes to eyewear!
