For many years I’ve enjoyed visiting this tiny hole-in-the-wall shop in Southgate Mall. Even if I don’t buy anything here, it’s wonderful to explore the options to get ideas for gift giving. And they do sell things that are appropriate for adults(not just kids) too! I love the fact that there is such a range of items available here! The shelves are stuffed full of items from experiments to toys and games and much much more. They have a lot of items that have educational value(but also things that don’t). And while it’s hard to maneuver here, it is well worth a visit on occasion.

This cool little store in Southgate has been around for quite some time and while I don’t always buy something when I am in I definitely enjoy checking out their ever changing inventory of neat science stuff! They have alot of great books and experiment kits to install a love of learning into your little ones as well as impulse buy items like plastic bug key chains and Rubik cubes. There isn’t really alot of rhyme or reason to how things are organized here so I needed some help finding the word magnets I had been looking for the last time I came shopping but the counter staff was really friendly and happy to help. For specific science items like experiment kits or telescopes these folks cannot be beat but I would recommend comparison shopping on other items like the beanie babies or the lego as you can usually find those types of things cheaper at a non specialty shop like Target.

As much as I hate the subject of science in school I have always been fascinated by science, experiments and cool gadgets. It might just be the nerd in me. This store has all that and more. They carry all types of toys, puzzles, games, telescopes and more. They carry toys like lego and games like cranium. They also carry binoculars and microscopes. It’s the kind of stuff that makes you want to be a scientist without actually doing the hardwork. It’s a fun store to walk through and browse around, and some of the games are cool enough to buy. If you want to get your kids into science you should bring them here. The store makes learning seem fun.

The Science Store sells science stuff? I wouldn’t have known… I was too busy oogling the enormous selection of Lego that they had. I used to be obsessed with Lego when I was a ki-okay, no, who am I kidding? I still haven’t grown out of Lego. Lego is just too awesome to forget. I came to the Science Store while looking for a Christmas present for my little cousins, who share the same love for Lego as I do(I guess it runs in the family). They had all kinds to choose from: pirates, Star Wars, racing, Bionics, you name it. Not as cheap as Wal-mart, but I left with a great gift for my family! I can’t speak for the rest of the store, since I paid science stuff no attention, but their Lego game is viscious.

I failed Chemistry 30 three times, so science is not exactly my forte, but I still find it kind of cool. I love astronomy and am fascinated with stars and planets. I came to the The Science Shop to buy a telescope, so I could take a closer look at the night sky. This is actually a really cool store, and it doesn’t scream«science,» when you walk in. It seemed more like a toy store, but most of the merchandise was science related, but not always learning related. A lot of it was just cool, like the Lego – cause we all know that Lego is still cool even when we’re old, right? They also have board games here, and I ended up buying Cranium, because it was on sale. This game is super fun. I found the telescope selection here to be pretty good. They had them in all sizes, price ranges, and brands, but I still found them to be quite pricey. I ended up ordering one online and that saved me a bit of money.

For the guy, or girl, in your life who used to burn ants with a magnifying glass(or still does?!), the Science Shop is chalk full of toys and games that explore the world of science. Itâs a fun walk through here. This is the kind of shop that makes you want to learn and understand the world we live in. For a child, Iâm not sure thereâs any better gift than one that nurtures curiosity, safe exploration and experimental play. They even have basic lab equipment like test tubes and Bunsen burners for budding Dr. Zeds, and itâs a good place to comparison shop for a telescope or microscope, though Iâm not sure if the prices are competitive here or not. If youâre a scientist at heart and want to try different experiments there are a variety to choose from, or if youâre looking for an interesting Christmas gift thereâs lots of atypical gifts here.

Yup, this place is definitely the mother ship for Bill Nye science geeks everywhere, like my brother. And I say that with much love, of course. The Science Shop has everything from telescopes and microscopes(and any other kind of scope out there) to labware and anatomy models(for educational purposes, you pervs). This is the perfect place to pick up science gadgets if you’re a teacher or just simply love science. It may be an educational store, but it’s about fun too. The shop looks more like a toy store, all jammed with science toys and thingamajigs. I’m not sure why, but they have an entire wall full of Lego people. Other than that, I didn’t have much time to look around, as the mall was closing. But I will definitely be back again to get something for my brother. He loves everything scientific, so this place probably has his Christmas present somewhere!
