I was at their new location and I love it. Good thing I was short on time or I may have spent so much more time in their fabric and trim section. It has some great fabric left over from Shirley. It wasn’t visible in their last spot. I bought some pre-​cut pieces and trim grab bag.
The fabric and trims are not cheap but they are unique. We have very little fabric options in town. There are lots of costumes and professional make-​up available.
The staff was very friendly and helped me with the wigs and gave me a card for their fabric club. I will go back.

Shirley Potter’s reincarnation.
They had a larger space and then moved into their current location on 109 street. They have a small retail area in the front where they keep the theatrical makeup and all of the costumes and accessories for sale.
The larger back area is for the costume rentals. They have the best selection that I have seen in the city. (Shirley Potter’s was famous for it’s rental section)
Theatre Garage has the best selection of «Woochie» latex prosthetics. For those of us that are allergic to everything on the planet, they also carry the «Aqua» line of face paint that you mix with water.
What I like most about Theatre Garage is the staff. Tessa and staff are an amazing part of the arts community in Edmonton and are wonderful with supporting events and charities.
She has many talented individuals available to help you out with creating that perfect look; be it the perfect makeup or a custom costume being made to order.
Watch for their «Halfway to Halloween» event every year — it is a lot of fun to attend!

Theatre garage is a quality store where I would recommend anyone to go to, if they are looking for professional stage makeup, wigs rental costumes. Props for your Halloween party and oh so much more! The ladies there truly care about their customers needs and do their best to make the shopping experience a good one. I hope this place stays around for a long time.

The Theatre Garage is awesome, especially for those looking for a quality Halloween costume. They customize pieces and do fittings, they have a wild selection of wigs and they also have a fabric section for those DIY projects. The ladies that own it are a friend duo that saved it from disappearing forever when Shirley Potters went under. They’re amazing and have a vast knowledge of time period costuming. If you are looking for a place to buy or rent costumes in Edmonton and are at a loss since Shirley Potter’s closed last year, then definitely check out it’s hipper reincarnation, Theatre Garage (the owners of Theatre Garage bought most of the Shirley Potter inventory when it shut down). You can find everything here, from belly dancing outfits to Austin Powers, the Beatles to ballerinas, accessories from wigs to tights to makeup to shoes to sparkly rhinestoney things. The prices are pretty reasonable, especially for rentals, and the staff are very helpful.
And you’re interested in making your own costumes, Theatre Garage is clearing out massive quantities of fabrics that had long been hidden deep in the recesses of the Shirley Potter basement.
Theatre Garage is still very new (opened October 2009 right before
Halloween), but will hopefully become a successful fixture in Edmonton.
