Booked online the night before for an 8:30am massage. It took 40 minutes to drive to the location and when I arrived the reception told me she has sent me an e-mail of appointment denial. I checked my phone and their e-mail was sent out to me at 8:15am, 15 minutes before my appointment. I was disappointed that she only gave me 15 minutes notification when the night before they had bookings as early as 8am!!! What angers me the most was I said there is a flaw in the online booking system considering I only get E-Mailed 15 minutes prior to my booked appointment instead of an early morning phone call as I was a previous customer on file. I was given the excuse«Erin isn’t doing a 90 minute massage today», «we never had this problem before»(basically implying I was the problem and had no reason to be upset). A simple phone call instead of a 15 min out email while I was already headed there through heavy morning traffic would have been a better choice. Would have been common sense. If you can’t accept 90 min, then change your online booking to restrict from it on certain massage therapists that cannot cater to it. Why show availability of booking an appointment next morning day when your excuse was«you booked last night». More excuses then a simple apology which she ignored. I will be taking my business elsewhere and Alberta Momentum has been by far better with customer service and online booking always follows up with a phone call. A perfect example of common sense is not so common.

I find that as I get older, my ability to well — exist — seems to get more and more difficult. Especially because doing simple things like: sitting in my crappy office chair at work, lifting twelve bags of groceries because I am too lazy to make two trips to my apartment or going to the gym — seem to leave me both intensely sore and regretting leaving my bed. Pair that with some pretty major sports injuries and my love of throwing myself at a gym floor three days a week(playing volleyball) and it leaves me fairly dependent on having someone manually massage my muscles so they work properly again. I’ve searched long and hard from a great massage therapy place in Edmonton. I met my current and regular RMT, Tia, several years ago, and she has been so amazing and great to me that I have followed her ever since. When she told me she would be running Therapeutic Body Concepts, I had no doubt that her business would be my go-to spot. What I love about Tia is that she is very in-tune with what her clients need and want. She poured this kind of attentiveness into her business by adding things like an ability to book online, later weekday hours and weekend openings and adding more therapists so that there is always availability and a great variety of talent and skill. I’ve attended most of the Yin Yoga sessions which are held by a massage therapist and certified yoga teacher, and they are a great opportunity to learn new stretches, breathing exercises and get a little massage to deeper relax your poses. They provide direct billing to a lot of insurance providers, which is super convenient and not all that common! This clinic has a great online presence, both with an accessible website and a Facebook page, which for me, is a great representation of a business that wants to be transparent and open to their clients. I see two RMTs regularly at Therapeutic Body Concepts. Tia, as I mentioned above, has been my superhero for many years. She provides me with the pressure that I need and is always tuned in to my many injuries and aches and pains. She is friendly, approachable, knowledgable and hands-down(no pun intended!) the best at what she does. One benchmark of a great therapist: Tia is always learning and expanding her skills, educating herself and learning new techniques. She is passionate about helping people and it is reflected in both the work she does and in the environment she sets. There are many therapists to be seen at Therapeutic Body Concepts and I truly believe that all of them could provide a great service and excellent experience. I always tell anybody who isn’t sure about massage — why go through life living in pain? The clinic is beautiful, relaxing and provides a therapeutic setting with a spa-like feel. It’s located in an accessible area of town with lots of free parking and the prices are comparable to any studio in the city. If you want to support a great Edmonton small business, definitely give them a try. You and your back won’t be sorry!

My husband and I decided to try Therapeutic Body Concepts for a couples massage today(prenatal for me). He works out and has noticed his back feels stiff and pregnancy aches and pains require me to go for prenatal massages at least once a month at this point so I suggested we go together. We had a little trouble finding the building once we were in the area and had to fill out some paperwork prior to the massage so keep in mind it’s better to be early than rushed, but it was pretty minor and we were taken to our adjoining rooms right away. We were asked about our trouble areas individually and my awesome RMT, Laura, got me propped up with pillows so I wasn’t lying on my stomach and made sure I was supported and comfortable. She made sure to ask about the amount of pressure, checked in with me once more to ensure I was comfortable, and then started to work her magic. She listened to me and I felt comfortable with the amount of pressure the entire time. My husbands RMT, Lee, was also fantastic. He said she was very intuitive about where exactly he was feeling tension and used the perfect amount of pressure for him to work it out. Soft music played throughout and outside noise was very minimal which allowed us to fully relax and enjoy the experience. Afterwards we were given some water and asked how everything felt. We had $ 10 taken off the total for each massage as we are new clients which was great. We both feel very relaxed and look forward to our next visit together as we will definitely be returning!
