This is a very special photography place in the city. The man who runs it is Randal Kabatoff and what he offers is extremely diverse, ranging from the very corporate to the very personal. He is a gifted photographer but also an intuitive creator. I went through an exercise with him for a story I once wrote for a local paper and he created a photo composite based on how I saw myself at the time. We «co-created» the photo through an interview and various photo shoots. In one meeting I jumped on a trampoline in his back yard in my pjs to create a flying effect for a portrait.(I sometimes fly in my dreams over city scapes, and he wanted to capture this in our composite). Back at his studio he combined photographic elements on his computer. He describes the end result as a way of making visible the human spirit which is hidden or lost. It’s photography taken to a new level as a tool for self-reflection and possibly healing. Kabatoff does much, much more in his studio. This is one of his passionate side projects. They have mass volumes of stock photos and all sorts of marketing work they do too. His space is also a hub for artists to gather and for workshops.
