Went to wok n roll at 82nd street a few weeks back with my folks who were visiting us from the US and I was very disappointed with the food and the service. We were seated to a table with a broken plastic on it and my dad almost hit his elbow on the broken part. The waitress was walking around to other tables while taking our orders instead of just standing by with us. Ordered the crab egg foo yong which was just scrambled egg with mung bean and cabbage no sauce, not what i expected it to be, tofu with mixed veggies, beef with gai lan which was only a small portion good for one person which I believe applies to most of their servings, kung po chicken and a platter of rice(the rice came in a water jug by the way). Being a sizable restaurant, I was expecting our orders to come at a reasonable time, instead it came one by one after waiting 20 minutes with 5 minute intervals between each food. Moreover, after the 3rd food was served, the waitress told us the kung po chicken was not available and gave us the dimsum menu to chose a substitute instead. We declined and asked her how long it will take to serve us the rice. She said«it will come, just wait.» Our food was already cold when the rice came. We all just ate in silence feeling very disappointed. With that bad experience, how do you expect me to come back?

I was visiting from Seattle and my aunt took us here for dim sum. Oh my goodness, it was all so delicious!!! We had a table of about 10 people. They had us order on a sheet which I think is because it was a weekday so there weren’t the usual dim sum carts, but that was fine. All of the orders came out quickly and efficiently! We ordered your usual dim sum like shu mai, ha gow and spare ribs. But my ABSOLUTEFAVORITE dishes were the deep fried shrimp spring rolls and house special bbq pork buns. Those 2 items were amazing and I wanted to take them both home to Seattle with me! Definitely coming back whenever I’m in Edmonton!

We come few time as family dinner gathering, The restaurant lay out is simple as many others Chinese one, with a very tight space between when you are trying to get up without touching the chair next to your table is not easy . Food: it is really a hit and miss on a busy day, some time with the same order can be so much different in tastes, whenever we are here always order the whole Banquet style dinner, the meal comes with almost what you like for a Chinese dishes from Soup, stir fry, sea food, green, chicken and so on. I always skeeping course since it is way too much for me! Service: absolutely not on Chinese restaurant, our last visit was so bad since they are extremely busy, we are here for the food and family meeting the rest helps your self!

The food wasn’t too bad, but it was hit and miss; some dishes were good, some were bad. But the worst part was the service. Not just the lack of service but the manager/owner walked around with her nose in the air and wouldn’t give us the time of day. In addition, she started vacuuming while we were eating. She visited with other guests, but they were very disruptive. Then to top it all off, in the middle of our meal, the manager, servers and kitchen staff came to the two tables next to us and started eating and talking loudly. Even though there were lots of other tables, they sat right next to us. Again, not that it’s a problem that they sat next to us, but they stopped serving us and it was difficult for us to continue our conversation. They even made a comment regarding how bad the rice was, even though they were serving us the same rice. I would really recommend staying clear of this place if service and atmosphere are important to you.

My family and I love coming here, although we try not to coincide it with when the other side of our family goes because they also love this place… Don’t go to a Chinese restaurant with high expectations for service, my dad always prefers those Chinese restaurants where the building is slightly aging and the servers are a little bit surly. With that in mind, the service at this place is MORE friendly than the average Chinese restaurant. :P that’s my experience as a Chinese Canadian. Secondly, the dim sum here is our favourite outside of Chinatown. My mom and her friends always gossip about which dimsum places are currently the best and this one is usually in her top three. Yup.

I go here quite often because it is one of the closest places to my work. I have never given a review before because I always order the same thing. The Wor Wonton Soup and the Steamed Pork Dumplings. These 2 dished are delicious! The soup is always very fresh and flavorful. Makes you feel all warm inside. It come with plenty of broccoli, chicken, shrimp, prok, snap peas, bok chop and baby corn. The dumplings are some of the best I have ever had! I like to give them a quick dip oin the soya sauce because their soya sauce always tastes soooo good. The servers here have always been top notch and fast. I recommend that you take a Wok and Roll someday! !

I’m pretty sure chicken isn’t supposed to be grey. All the other meat dishes were half cooked. We ordered 6 dishes and ended up throwing 5 in the trash. I’m now praying with vigor that I don’t become violently ill. NEVERAGAIN.

Well we didn’t know the owners at this restaurant and maybe that’s why we got such horrible service. We had reservations for 7 people at 7:00pm and when we arrived our table wasn’t ready for 15mins. It wasn’t packed with people, but it was busy because it was around dinner time. This was the first Chinese restaurant in my life that I didn’t get my tea immediately. This looks like a family ran business. There were young and old people coming in and out of the kitchen. We could see on their face and gesture how much they didn’t want to be here. It seemed like we were bothering them by eating here. We ordered a 4 dishes course, because we found that most of the other set dinners were pricier than other restaurants. We had the Fried Chicken, Beef and Vegetables, Sweet & Sour Pork and Fish & Tofu Hotpot. The food came out at a slow pace and was really greasy. There was nothing that stood out with the food. And for some mysterious reason, our table got a different dessert than the tables beside us. Who kept commenting on how delicious their dessert was and ours was just ok. I was really disappointed with the outcome of this visit. I came here to eat 6 months ago and the food was good, so I wanted my family to try the food here. They all were unsatisfied with the turn out of the dishes and I felt really bad for recommending this restaurant to my family.

3.5 stars. This place ain’t half bad. Despite being in the north side, the taste equivalent is that of Chinatown! I’m always impressed when you have options like this available to you in the burbier parts of town and it still remains authentic. I’ve eaten here a couple times with my parents because besides Chinese food, they also serve Filipino food! This is where my parents order if they wanted something Filipino but were too lazy to cook themselves. They serve a pretty decent 3 course peking duck(I think $ 45?) — this Monday we chose the option where we could have it with some jelly fish(you could also get lettuce wrap and something else, I think). We also ordered a «buddha’s feast» of stir fried veggies and mushrooms, which was tasty, but I have to say, I was mostly impressed with their shrimp and peaches. It was a crispy batter with the right amount of sauce. Better than the last one I had at Lingnan. Anyway, it’s not my favourite Chinese place by any means, but if you’re in the north side and want to have some authentic Chinese(and Filipino!) food, this is a good place to pop in!

I believe my aunt knows the people that work here and maybe even the owner. But I’m a visitor from the states and this asain resturant by far is comparable to the chinatown resturants back in la. The service was great and very polite people, maybe cuz its canada =). usually when I’m eating at a resturant I’m always drinking glass after glass of tea to help with the thirst cuz if the msg but I actually didn’t have to when I ate here. The plates sizes were HUGE and the crab were filled with meat which is a major plus for me since I love seafood. thirst place also gets packed when dinner time comes around. So come early. I would recommend this place.

We ordered from Wok N Roll tonight, having the food delivered. Delivery time was average, about 45 minutes. The lady on the phone was quite pleasant, as was the delivery driver, so kudo’s for their customer service. The food was not even lukewarm when it arrived, so after filling my plate, I had to use the microwave for reheating. That doesn’t bother me too much with having food delivered. The special fried rice was extremely good, and the sweet and sour pork was above average, with pineapples and onions mixed into the sauce. The deep-fried shrimps had a lot of shrimp in them, but the batter seemed like it was undercooked just a bit. The beef with mixed greens had a good mixture of snow peas, baby corn, other vegetables, with an abundance of beef. Though I’m not a fan of overly spicy foods, I found the Szechuan beef almost bland. But it was cooked well, as it wasn’t tough. All in all, 3⁄5. I may choose to dine at their restaurant sometime, but probably won’t choose their delivery option again.
