One of several antique shops in the immediate historic town of Elora area, this small, crowded and absolutely fun shop is a must see for odd, curious and sometimes beautiful antiques. My memories of antique shops usually surround the words ‘old stuff’, ‘junk’, and ‘poor condition old stuff that people pass off as valuables’. However, I found the prices are very reasonable and the selection of random items is so much better than shops that I’ve visited in Toronto. The condition of the stuff here is also generally very good. The shop specializes in old Roman and Celtic coins, and also has lots of retro, vintage and original film memorabilia. Of special note is a lot of vintage, risqué movie star and pin up imagery. There’s even a piece on display of Marilyn Monroe where if you lift the transparency, it is noted you could see her without her clothes on. Huh. Other ‘curiosities’ you’ll find here are ‘genuine fake shrunken heads’(gross), a beautiful work by Man Ray(original — I think!) and leather bound family Bibles over a hundred years old.
