Great pub that understands the importance of great food, great beer on tap and good lighting! Staff are amazing, too!

Fantastic food. Great service. Fair prices for the quality(which is excellent). Ordered the bison burger and chicken takka masala. So good.

The service wasn’t fantastic. Firstly, they were very understaffed, there was only one server for the whole restaurant and bar. Add to this that the lone server spent much of the time chatting with a friend at the bar and the cook and it made for slow service. The food though was fantastic which is why I’m still giving 4 stars. I highly recommend the lemon and rosemary chicken sandwich, it was really good. The chicken was freshly cooked and I think the bun may have been freshly baked too. I would definitely go back for the food and to see if the other servers are any more professional.

We came here for lunch with some friends on Wednesday, we were actually intending to go to the Monk’s Kettle across the street but it was closed on the 31st! Food was pretty good, side salad that came with mine was wilted and had too much dressing but the rest of our food was very tasty. Only downside was the speed of service, there was only 1(1!!) server trying to handle the bar and wait all of the tables. Ridiculous. We waited so long to pay we got desperate and started scrounging enough coins together to be able to leave cash for our tab. Our friends ended up being late picking their son up from daycare. Next time I’m trying the Monk’s Kettle!

I had a prime rib chili there for dinner. It was excellent. The service was good, the food was great, and the price was fine. The location was convenient too. It’s a bit small, so don’t be surprised if you have to wait a bit.

The food was great and the service was friendly and attentive, despite it being a busy night. The beer was a bit pricey($ 7 for Millstreet Organic), but my friend got the mussels which were on special and it was a basketball sized portion of some seriously delicious shellfish in a great sauce. We asked for some extra bread to soak up all the leftover sauce and the waitress was very happy to bring some. I had the naanwich which was really delicious — I was thinking about it for the rest of the week! The burger was good but unremarkable, and the veggie burger was tasty, sure, but really was just a dollop of hummus on a bun, the texture did not hold up at all as a burger. It was pretty difficult to eat. I would return!

Stopped in here for lunch during the week. A small, dim pub with lots of business people. Very friendly and welcoming bartender/waitress who appeared to be running the show alone, but she did a seriously excellent job of making sure everyone was taken care of. I got a yummy quinoa wrap and my boyfriend had a pasta dish — we both liked the food, although it wasn’t remarkable, it was good. Wouldn’t go out of our way to come here again, but the service was great.

I was first introduced to Henry VIII when I ran at the Running Room across the street. It’s a great neighborhood bar with a nice atmosphere, very good food, decent wines, beer and very good service. Always busy and if no tables, worth the wait or a seat at the bar. It’s our«go to» spot, all the way from Mississauga whenever a night out is called for. We’ve also enjoyed their new location in Bloor West Village, but this one will always remain or favorite. Be sure to try the Beef Marsala or the warm couscous salad. Both are winners!

My husband and I stopped in here last evening. It was hopping so we went in and sat the bar(and we lucky to get those stools!). There was a really good vibe at this pub. And judging by the fact that it was packed with people waiting for tables, we weren’t the only ones who thought so. There was a woman eating wings at the end of the bar … they looked good! A guy had a bison burger next to us and it was HUGE! If we are in that ‘hood, we’ll definitely stop in again, especially for a meal.

MASSIVE bowl of bison spaghetti bolognese, were talking feed a small family. Tasty, but needed salt. Great atmosphere, good service and particularly liked the nod to the HBO series«Tudors» hanging on the wall. Challenging menu for those with restricted diets but they were very accommodating.

Surprised that no one has reviewed this place before now, but figured I’d start things off with a bang. 5 stars, yes… but this is a really good little pub. Our neighbours recommended it to us and, upon checking reviews online, all were consistently positive which is a bit unheard of in this city. Apparently the current owner just bought the place about a year and a half ago and it’s been doing really well ever since. Someone’s doing something right, I guess. We went over on Canada Day afternoon for a late lunch and a couple pints(which turned into a few) and got a great people-watching seat by the window. Just a wee place but a perfect spot to settle for the afternoon; super laid-back atmosphere, a TV in the corner for those wanting to watch sporting events up at the bar, and completely tolerable music. Service was super friendly and we were instantly impressed by the menu; I had the steak & stilton salad and he had the Reuben, both delicious and totally hit the spot. We also split an order of wings, which were fantastic — husband said they may be the best wings he’s ever had, which is saying something. came with fresh(fresh!) carrot sticks and chunky blue cheese dip. Their dessert menu is also pretty tempting, and I would’ve had one as well but it seemed like an overindulgence at the time… Anyway, go check it out if you’re in the Kingsway area, definitely a neighbourhood gem. We’ll be back for sure.
