This review is for the McCall’s online store… If I could give McCall’s online store a ZERO, I would, but I cannot. What HORRIBLE service. I tried to get some chocolate sent online but not only did it come late, but it was all broken up. After ignoring my emails, l they wouldn’t give me a refund. Not only did it come late, but it was also RANCID!!! Worst customer service EVER. Do NOT order from these people!!!

Great store, excellent selection, friendly helpful staff. I couldn’t have asked for more. The store was easy to find. It had everything a baker can be looking for, and more. Even if you can’t find something, there is Bulk Barn across the street, that also carries baking supplies. BTW, McCall’s has a website, which is worth checking out prior to heading out there for ideas of what’s available and prices.

This area needs a map update as it was very hard to locate this spot even with Google maps. The junctions here being all wonky doesn’t help much either as it can be quite confusing to figure out the street this place is located at. Anyway minor quibble. Once you get here the variety here more than makes up for it. This is not your average housewares store. They do focus on baking needs and cater to the professional supply/tools side of things. If you are an advance bake at home type you will be happy to come here. They have all kind of gadgets that will help you create the next masterpiece at home or in your professional store. The staff was knowledgeable and provided assistance when needed so kudos for that as a beginner like me really appreciated it. 4 Stars all the way.

Like the other woman who reviewed McCall’s, I too am an obsessed home baker. However, I also like a good deal, and the supplies at McCall’s are simply overpriced when compared with other stores in the GTA. Add to that the fact the staff come off as though they’d rather be doing anything else in the world than be helping you, and you’ve got yourself a full«meh» rating. I continue to shop here because it is close to where I live, but let me just give you an example of the attitude: I purchased lavender coloured fondant the other day. That’s how it was labelled, and it also had a little colour swatch on the outside. I get it home and discover it’s Grimace-purple. I use it anyway because it’s all I have. I return to the store today and tell the sales associate. You know what she tells me? I should have asked them to break it open to check the colour. Really??? How about you guys get a head start and appropriately label your products, huh? Apparently I was supposed to expect it would be the wrong shade. In summary, if you have time to compare prices with other places *cough*GOLDAS*cough, then do so. One recent example I found was a cookie cutter and imprint set ring up at a price difference of over $ 12 over the competition. One thing that cannot be denied is their Easy Ice Fondant. It is delicious and easy to work with.

No reviews for McCall’s? The baking professionals since 1956? I mean, I know it’s out in Etobicoke, but for the obsessed home baker(ie. myself), this place is definitely worth the trek. I finally went to McCall’s the other day with a friend and had to hold back in not spending all the money in my wallet. Not that things in this baking supply heaven are all that expensive, it’s just that you end up wanting to buy every single type of themed cupcake liners, several colours of coloured sugars, all different shades of gel-paste food colour, and so on, as you walk through every aisle of the shop(fortunately there are only about half a dozen aisles!). There was quite a good variety of items available when I was there, although some areas seemed somewhat picked over, especially the seasonal items, so be sure to visit the shop well in advance of your holiday-themed baking ventures. In addition to all these decorating-related items, you can also purchase all kinds of pans, trays, carrying cases, baking utensils, etc. But none of that is nearly as fun as the pretty stuff, obviously. Also of note, McCall’s offers a wide variety of cake decorating courses throughout the year for newbies and experts alike. Unfortunately, their website is horribly maintained and you’ll likely have no luck in properly seeing the course schedule online, but they do have a free booklet available in the store with all the information you need, or you could always give them a call.
