It was my first time here. The view fro the patio is great, but you have to be careful to choose a table with an umbrella for the shade… eating on the sun was not fun. I have ordered liver and onions. It was good and they use real vegetables and not the frozen ones. I would have my liver well done, but it was not bad at all. I also ordered a desert that took too long and I had to cancel as I was in a very large group and I they had to leave… Still, I would comeback for the view and the food.

We were looking for something unique and fun, and happen on «The Goofie Newfie». after explaining to our 10 year old what the term Newfie was, we sat down inside the restaurant and fell in love with the décor. Service that day was very slow, but the waitresses were attentive. They apologized a few times explaining that the kitchen was short staffed. We were not in a hurry so we waited. The wait was worth it, the food is genuine and prepared by hand. I had the cod fish and chips. I was very happy. The portions are huge. My wife had the spicy buffalo chicken sandwich and it too was big and tasty. My daughter has the fish sticks. All was great and food was worth the wait. The view on the patio is spectacular, backing up to the Grand river and the old stone buildings in Furgus. Looking forward to having dinner next time. Service is a three out of five (Note service was low that day and you may not experience this on your visit. Hopefully next time I can move that up.) Food is a four out of five for pub food. Ambience is a five out of five For a total of four out of five.

Gord and I had supper this evening at the Goofie Newfie Pub and Grill. I’m originally from Nova Scotia and love everything from the east coast so couldn’t wait to check it out! There is a patio overlooking the river. Though we love patios, we sat inside where it was cooler(it was humid outside). It was fun inside and I kept having to remind myself that I was in Ontario not Newfoundland! There is a lot of variety on the menu and we stuck with traditional Newfoundland dishes. Gord started with Deep Fried Bologna. I like bologna but not fried. Gord enjoyed it. The rhubarb relish was tart and good. He also ordered Cod au Gratin and said it was delicious. He wished the bread had been just toasted rather than garlic bread, though, as he found the garlic a bit overpowering. He also asked for a side of scrunchions. I’m not a fan(too salty and chewy) but Gord likes them. I ordered fish and chips. It was delicious and filling! Dakota(who is originally from Nova Scotia) was our server and she took good care of us. Since we were in a Newfoundland pub, we couldn’t leave without having some Screech! As we were leaving, we had a nice Rob, one of the owners(he is from Newfoundland) and Rebecca, his wife(another owner). She is from Nova Scotia so you know you are getting authentic Newfoundland cuisine! If you are Fergus, you should check it out! The food is good and it’s a fun place!
