Burger & Shake

Great burgers and fries! Loved the atmosphere and that there was a place to eat outside. The service was friendly, my burger was beautifully cooked to order. They also served delicious vegan burgers which the vegans in my family loved. We also got our food fairly quickly despite it being a busy day. Plenty of parking too.

Don’t lets its modest exterior, or attached Golf Range and Mini-​put fool you. The name of the place «Burger and Shake» should tell you what they do best.
This staple in the community since 1986 serves up fresh hamburgers, fries, hot dogs and shakes that are almost as good as home made.
While I wasn’t expecting much from looking at the outside, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food, and the friendliness of the staff, and it was reasonably priced to boot

We asked at a local business where they all like to eat — a method that has served us well in the past for finding hidden local gems — and they sent us here.
Burger & Shake seems to be affiliated with a golf-​related business. (Hard to tell with the snow! Maybe mini golf and putting greens?)
Place is small and clean. Nothing fancy. Straight forward menu — burgers, fries, poutine, onion rings, ice cream — and shwarma (the ubiquitious food of Ottawa, topped only by poutine for being served in every restaurant).
We orded onion rings, fries and two Char (single) burgers. Onion rings are to die for. Hot. Hubby thought they needed to be thicker but I loved them as is — and thicker taked longer which would impact service, a key for this location. Fries were good (but not outstanding. Shakes were great — hand dipped. Char burger was big, delicious and messy — it was a 4 napkin meal. A simple burger from older times, no fancy sauces or spice — just a burger with regular fixings. Hubby noted that the bun was exellent (sesame seed kaiser) with perfect bun to meat ratio.
The place filled up as we sat, at 1:30p on a Monday afternoon — a good sign.
We heard someone order half fries, half rings — so we know for next time. :-)
My only compalint (small!) Is process cheese — would love to see cheddar cheese option

Bathrooms were clean (except for the window — it could use some spring cleaning).
