Food: It was quite disappointing!
Beverage: I ordered Sommberby ($ 9) but it tasted like apple juice (too much ice) Why would you put /fill the beer glass with ice? ?

Loved the food and atmosphere. Service really wrecked it for me. Waited 15 minutes for drinks. Another 25 for cheese bread dip appetizer (which was hardly warm, still delicious!) and almost 30 minutes later came out steak and cheeseburger. We ate, and then sat for another 15 minutes. Server never came to see how our food was/offer up refills… He didn’t even come with our bill until we stood up and put our coats on! The server did apologize, and he gave us our app for free and said he was so busy, he just must have forgot to add the app. He said this more than once, almost expecting us to be like «wow thanks so much!» But really, it’s the least he could do after our long wait and lack of service. He did still get a tip, but that’s only because of the free app. And no it was not an overly busy night.

This is a pub which has always been a cut above when it comes to their food. Both with the quality as well as the presentation — you can see that they’re taking the care that’s necessary to make it worth your while to dine there.
Though, I have to say — the lamb shank was better before — why you guys changed it!!! (seriously, it’s sad — it was one of my favourite things) :)
Their pub pies are awesome! Their Indian fare is actually quite good as well! If you’re going to get a burger or sandwich, I hope you brought your appetite. :)

Mediocre at best.
Chicken tasted rubbery and tough, the sandwich I ordered was missing half the components it said it came with. The house salad was just literally a bowl of mixed greens with 6 pumpkin seeds, no veggies or anything else. Service was good when our waiter was with us, but he disappeared for basically our whole visit after we ordered. Had to wave down another server for our bill, waited 20 minutes to pay.
The drinks are quite good, but that’s all they’ve really got going for them.

The service at first was rather slow, however this was made up for by the awesome young man who served us and the delicious food. The extensive menu had so many things to choose from (I went with a boxty) PLUS a seasonal menu! I’m definitely going again to try something new. Hilarious staff.

My husband and I go to Fionn’s quite often for a beer. esp when we have company.
Fionn’s is within walking distance which is a bonus.
My only problem is, the music is so loud that I feel like I’m a night club than at a pub.

A fairly decent pub for the area.
Myself and a few friends stopped off here for a quick bite and a drink on the way to a wedding.
Service was really good and I liked the way they allowed us to have separate bills. The waitress really impressed me the way she managed to keep a track of everything.
I ordered the chicken salad. It was average, nothing special but filled the gap. I stuck to drinking vodka line and soda which was ok, but my mates who tried the beers and Guiness said they were good.
I would come back if I’m ever over this way.

I ordered the Grilled chicken sandwich that was supposed to have «dill havarti and crisp bacon». These components were the main reason I decided to order this sandwich but when I received the sandwich, none of these things were on it. The sandwich only had the mayonnaise, tomato and greens. Disappointing because I easily could have recreated a similar sandwich at home.
Plus I feel like all they are trying to do is make you spend more and more money. If I originally wanted a dessert or coffee I would have asked. Also I ended up buying the sweet potato fries as a substitute because I was put on the spot and felt pressured.

Service here was very friendly and attentive. Good atmosphere. However, the food was nothing special. Did not finish it and did not want the leftovers. Probably will not return. Had the «special» Reuben fritters, which were essentially just battered and fried bread. Also had the lamb vindaloo, which was quite dry.

If you like pub’s, pub food and pub environment, you will like it here. That is what Fionn MacCool’s is a pub, not a restaurant, not a bar a pub.
Compared to other restaurants I would say Fionn’s does not stand out. Although they have decent food, the selection is not the greatest. I did enjoy the environment it was different and the service was good, servers did check up on our 8 person table regularly. Price was fairly regular 7 $ish apps 15 $ish entrees.
Overall average for a restaurant, excellent for a pub.

I have been there twice since they opened and I love the atmosphere. It is a very nice pub with nice servers. No crazy undergrad students or similar customers.
They have nice selection of beers which they serve at the perfect temperature and decent menu.
The main negatives are in the kitchen and little bit disorganized staff. 2 different employees told us to wait for our own waiter instead of getting the order themselves. Food looks great, just wasn’t lucky last time as my burger was burned.
But considering the good beer and music, it is one of the few better places in Guelph.

went here for a birthday party… MINE … anyway, made reservations for a private rm 1 month in advance… confirmed 3 days in advance… was informed 5 hours prior to the event that I would have to settle for the upstairs area because someone else had reserved the Sleeman room before me… Hmmmm I think someones not telling the truth !!! That being said… the service, food and drink were great and I will return.

VEGGIE BURGER!!!
I’ve started two reviews with that statement… because it really should be highlighted when a place like this (and that I mean a pub surrounded by a parking lot and a grocery store) does a good job on a veggie burger.
It is homemade, and is loaded with these amazing marinated portobello mushroom chunks (which could honestly be a burger in themselves). The bun was perhaps a bit «normal» (…mmm…a herb kaiser maybe?), but besides that, I was pretty darn amazed. That said… it is quite the mouthful. If you order this… be prepared to make an amazing mess :)
The waitress was very friendly as well — props to her for being so darn chipper :)
