I have been a customer of CIBC for the last 15 years. I have also had accounts at other banks, and I find CIBC as a whole is far superior. They treat you well. If you have a problem with being overcharged service charges and you bring it to their attention, they will gladly refund your money. My son was overcharged service charges when his student status expired and he forgot to inform them to the tune of over a thousand dollars. CIBC gladly refunded his money without question. Another bank, its name I will not mention, would not give him back his money. And so he closed his account with that bank, including his credit products with that particular bank. All of his credit products are now with CIBC. I also have been charged NSF charges for things that went through my account in error. CIBC doesn’t even question it. They have refunded my money every single time. And they treat you like your money is important even if you have a modest income. Switching to CIBC was one of the smartest decisions I have ever made.
