If there’s one thing I love it’s a classic! So I indulged in a large pepperoni feast with extra cheese! Pepperoni under and on top of the cheese! With a mozza stretch on bite one I was sent spiralling back into my childhood ordering pizza tough baseball loss!

I know the pizza places of Halifax are iffy, which is why i stick to the other parts of the menu(if a place has them)…and Dimitri’s has them. Their poutine is great. One of the best in Halifax. And their Bubba Sub(donair meat and melted cheese served on garlic bread) was a gamble that paid off. I intend to try more of their menu as time goes on, but i definitely recommend this place.

First, it must be pointed out that Halifax is a pizza wasteland, with generally lousy dough and always outrageous prices. This review focuses on rating Dmitri’s within its local context. First, the prices are comparable to those at other, similar, Canadian-style pizza joints. They often have very good deals on two medium pizzas with limited toppings. Their specialty pizzas are not bad, although some toppings appear to be canned. Compared to other nearby places, I would say their dough is superior, although it falls short of local high-end placed. Still, it is nicely elastic, albeit a bit doughy. The service is good, at least for pick-up, and the pizzas are always ready on time. The other items on the menu are not bad, and of these I find the wings to be the best. So, in summary, a good place to get a pizza for a kid’s birthday party or for a game. Probably not the place to go for an intimate dining experience or to find exceptionally good pizza. So, four stars for what it is.

Large Donair Poutine … There are many debates on which restaurant has the best poutine and what makes a great Poutine, but when it comes to Dimtris Donair Poutine, it can’t be beat! Maybe is the thick cut donair meat, smothered in gravy and the extra cheese, or the fact that its the size of a pie plate, or maybe it is just because its around the corner from me, but I love it!

It seems like there’s a pizza place on every block in Halifax, and Chebucto Road between Oxford and Connaught is Dimitri’s territory, as presumably bestowed upon them by the Pizza High Council. Coming in on a nice Good Friday, my posse and I roll in and are greeted by the friendly and helpful staff. After perusing their menu for a bit, we settle on a large deluxe, which comes with pepperoni, salami, onion, green Peppers, mushrooms, hamburger, bacon. This and a few cans of pop is a pretty reasonable $ 25, and I notice similar good deals on their menu. With my girlfriend living around the corner, I can definitely see us picking up some $ 11 pepperoni pizzas(pick-up only) in the future when the motivation to cook escapes us. We get the pizza after a short wait and decide to eat in the small restaurant. The pizza certainly looks good with cheese that is just slightly browned and fresh looking vegetables and islands of hamburger popping up. The flavour of green pepper and onion are the most noticeable with the salami and pepperoni bringing up the rear. The bacon and hamburger unfortunately don’t register on my palate’s radar and the sauce is not of note either. The crust is fairly thin and has a little crispness on the bottom and fluffiness on the outer crust. All in all, Dimitri’s is your typical neighbourhood pizza joint — great, friendly service, middle of the road pizza, good prices and a location that can’t be beat. I’ll be back, Dimitri, unless the Pizza High Council bestows a closer location to a better pizziaolo.

Are the prices bad? No. Is the location bad? No. Is the service bad? No. Problem is that the pizza really sucks. Isn’t the pizza the most important part? I have had pizza from here roughly 6 or 7 times, all ordered by other people. I have just had the«pleasure» of being there at the time. The cheese is gross, the toppings are cheap, and the crust is nasty. It really scares me that this garbage passes for pizza. I know this review is short, but this is all this place deserves. KOD is better and that is nasty!

Here’s my first/last experience with Dimitri’s after we moved in nearby and thought we’d give it a try 8:21 — Phone and order large pizza and poutine for pickup. They say 20 minutes 8:49 — Arrive at Dimitri’s. Poutine ready, but clearly they have forgotten to make the pizza. Rather than tell me they forgot, tell me to wait ‘a minute’ 9:14 — After staff avoid vocal or eye contact with me for 25 minutes as I sit there, I realize that not only have they forgotten to make it the first time, but they have forgotten to do it AGAIN. 9:15 — Drive to Sobey’s, buy Delisio 9:43 — Dimitri’s calls. Don’t leave a message. Don’t know what it tastes like. Will never find out.

I used to order here all the time when I lived nearby. Now that I live further away, I don’t order as often but once in awhile I stop by. They have good pizza. The service is pretty good. The prices are reasonable. Overall, it’s pretty dependable. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who lives nearby, and I’ve had good results with delivery too.

Being as fussy as I am when it comes to pizza and when someone else is paying the I really do not have a choice. But we went and ordered I at least had the option of choosing the toppings. Peoporoni, GP, Mush, Sausage and hot peppers. Now normally I do have my all time place to do but I will give any place a chance and wow I was surprised. Great taste with a zesty sauce that had be wanting another piece. Service was fast and friendly while we wait for it to cook. As well they do have delivery.

Dimitris, I hit sometimes on the way home. It happens to fall on the right side of the street. Just kidding. I can say they make a good pizza and occasionally have the specials. I love lots of cheese, which I know is not good for you, but hey, if you are going to sink into a pizza, they do it up right. The staff here are nice, nothing too fancy if you are eating inside, but at least it is clean.

Dimitris is the place I choose when I want a comfort pizza: plain cheese(probably 3 varieties), or something with onions and pineapple. The other night, I managed to tap into some cable and lucky for me, wasn’t Tom Hanks gracing my small screen in his runaway performance in The Da Vinci Code. Oh boy. I decided to make the night even cheesier by ordering a cheese smothered pizza all for myself. It was quick delivery and it was just what the doctor ordered. The Dimitris gang are a friendly bunch, and they get the job done: pizza in my hand, late a night, while watching borrowed cable. Ah, bliss.

Dimitri’s Pizza is close to my house… this makes it good. That’s not to say they don’t make a solid pizza(They do) at a good price(It is), but when you live in a city as cold as Halifax in the winter, proximity is key. So for me, this place is ideal. For those who are not within walking distance, Dimitri’s has delivery. So come February, when stepping outside your door means the possible loss of fingers and toes, you’re still in luck! Delivery is relatively fast, as usual it depends on the time of day, but I’ve had pizza delivered to a friends house and it’s always quick. And to be perfectly honest, I might be tempted to walk across this fair city for one of Dimitiri’s Zesty BBQ Chicken Pizzas! Definitely a favorite you should check out!
