There is seriously something wrong with this McDonald’s, I don’t know if I’ve ever gone and not had my order wrong and end up having to go back again it’s getting ridiculous. The drive through time is pretty long too, just drove all the way home to realize half my order wasn’t even in the bag. Annoying.

Probably the worst McDonald’s in all of Halifax. It’s sketchy, dirty and I never get my order done correctly. On this particular occasion they forgot the condiments I asked for even though I asked twice, my food was cold even though I waited ten minutes for it, my fries were chewy and over salted and I didn’t get any monopoly stickers on my drink as advertised. It’s also the only location that has yet to be renovated so it’s an eyesore. Do yourself a favour and go to kempt road instead.

Food preparation person wiped her nose with left hand, touched her mouth with the right and her glasses with both, then made someone’s burger without washing hands first. No juice and no soft drinks available, only coffee and water. Your basic fail.

That’s right, I’m giving this baby five full stars. Why not? It more than deserves it for their tireless night shift employees alone! I’ve probably been here five times during normal daylight hours. This is a night-owl Shannon hang-out. This is where I’ve stumbled in giggling with friends at 2:30, where I’ve ordered breakfast at 6:47, where I’ve driven through for fries at 11:07. I’ve seen fights, romance, dramas and comedy here. The air here can be laced with nervous energy or hungover with shame. Sure, it’s just a McDonald’s. The food is the same at pretty much every location. What’s not the same is who waits on you, how they do it, and who waits in line beside you. When it comes to Quinpool, they’re in a world of their own.

Oh, McDonalds. You fail at everything. Even your french fries have beef seasoning on them. Please cease to exist. Thank you, Lance H.

I’m not usually a fast food kinda gal, but one in a while I’ll stop by Mickey D’s for a quick something(usually try to stick to their salads and«healthier» choices… No Big Macs for me) This location is just like other McD’s– same general layout, same menu options, and(typically) a younger group of employees work there. The consequences of that are two-fold; sometimes, service can be fast and efficient(unlike restauraunts staffed by geriatric lunchlady-like servers), but sometimes you might be served by Cameron MacMinimumwage who works as slow as cold molasses and screws up your order even after you repeat it a few times. It’s kinda hit-or-miss. That said, this place is pretty good on the whole. A lot of times I have to «tweak» the fixings on my McGrill, and the staff have yet to mess it up, so I consider that a definite plus. And, I find that the kids here are pretty quick, whether you order«in-house» or via drive thru(yes, I realize I shouldn’t drive thru ’cause it’s bad for the environment, but alas life is short and I like my fast food really fast…) No complaints here :)

It always works in a fast food chain restaurant’s favour to have a parking lot on one of the busiest strips in the city. What hurts however is how hard it can sometimes be to access said parking lot, both coming and leaving. The heavy traffic and placement of intersections works against anyone looking to pick up an Egg McMuffin and the morning rush hour can add serious time to your drive. The inside of this location is very spacious and actually a nice place to sit and eat, but its usually pretty barren. The drive thru takes in the majority of business(at least that’s my guess based on my observations) and can get backed up dangerously close to Quinpool when it’s at it’s busiest. The staff that have served me at this McDonald’s location have ranged from enthused to very helpful. A few weeks ago when I approached the speaker box with my order completely ready. When I made it to the window the young girl was raving about how nice it was to not have to ask a series of questions following my order. Her enthusiasm and engagement made my day, something I never thought would happen at a drive thru window.

I know this isn’t an independent business(about the furthest possible thing from it), but given my experience at this particular location on the weekend, I thought it deserved a bit of a review. What are the two things you expect when you go to a McDonald’s Restaurant? Speed, and consistency, am I right? The same burger, made the same way as in any other location in Canada, all paid for and packed up in a matter of seconds from the moment you walk through the door, correct? Speed? FAIL. Consistency? FAIL Waited ten minutes to get two cheeseburgers, each of which had only ONE pickle slice(one pickle slice? have there been pickle slice cutbacks?), and lukewarm burgers with cold cheese that was not the least bit melted. Puh-lease. One worker on cash at high noon on a Saturday, and a bunch of of other workers standing around or randomly bumping into one another as they did, well, not much. I think these kids need a bit of a refresher from head office.
