yum. When we went(2 summers ago) there was a huge line.(I just thought of this place after a spontaneous craving for caramelized pear pizza.) Lived up to the hype ‘The Stephanie’ pizza was insanely delicious.

I’m a big fan of Napoli pizza: all my favourite pizza places in Sydney were of this style. So I was pleased when an old friend invited here and I found it exists in Halifax as well. The room is average for a restaurant of this type: nice enough, nothing too fancy, lots of space. But the service was great, very friendly, attentive, helpful, informative, and efficient. They were happy to make the pizza I wanted(quattro formaggi) with a tomato instead of a white base. And the pizzas — both mine and my friend’s — were excellent. Crusts, toppings, cooking, flavour balance, all very good. I look forward to further meals there.

Sometimes it’s great, sometimes it’s so-so. When the pizzas are cooked right, they’re phenomenal. We went one night and the crust was a wet, mushy mess; however, we’ve since returned(to both the Halifax and St. John’s locations) and had several great meals! The Caesar salad and the meatballs are our favourite staters — I could make a meal out of them! I tend to go for the Margherita pizza, while my boyfriend samples the specials or more adventurous pizzas. My rating is definitely reflective of food, drinks and atmosphere. Service is so-so. We’ve had a couple great servers, and others who have been inattentive, annoyingly present or just plain rude. One night in St. John’s I ordered the meatballs(which I get every visit) and they were so undercooked they were bleeding. Instead of remedying the situation, the server brought out one of the cooks who began loudly condemning me for questioning her abilities in front of the packed restaurant… I’ve never been so embarrassed. But, I’m not the type of person to let one bad encounter spoil the entire experience, so we’ve returned and enjoyed!

We had a bad experience at a previous estimate restaurant and never got our food. We stumbled upon this pizza place and went in so hungry! They have a saying in Italian that says«that you do not age while you are eating». Our waitress Shelby was amazing! She promptly brought us waters and our much needed adult beverages. We ordered a lunch special which was a 9 inch pizza and a salad. We both got the caprese salad. It was incredible! For pizza(see pictures for all) we got the Sicilian and the white pizza with Canadian bacon. Both were incredible along with the service! We recommended this place!

One star for the super friendly staff One star for the cool vibe and décor One star for the Caprese salad… Unfortunately my gluten free pizza dough was very soggy! The outer crust part was crispy and delicious but the rest of it was soggy and felt like it wasn’t cooked. I ended up leaving the majority of it and ate the crispy crust and the toppings only. To top it off, I ended up paying $ 3.50 extra for the GF crust which I ended up not eating anyways :-(Another disappointment! My friend’s pizza which was regular crust apparently was delicious… Disappointed and wouldn’t try it again.

Would give here a 3.5 actually. Had walked by this place at night a few times over the last year and was always tempted to go in, but it was always after I had already eaten elsewhere. Finally got to give it a try on a summer Saturday evening around 7:30? When four of us arrived, we were told it may be a 5 – 10 minute wait, but it was probably less than one minute actually to get one of the tables right there in the middle of the room by the door. There aren’t a ton of tables, maybe ten out front and a few in a side room? The bar and pizza cooking area take up a lot of space. But it’s still a clean, trendy atmosphere and casual. A scooter is parked inside the front door and a few other random décor items make this place cute. My second visit was on an average October Friday evening and we had no wait to get a seat this time around 6:00. Ended up in the exact same table as last time, with a few children around us(a dislike for me, but no biggie). The bathrooms are three or four small separate private ones, vs your standard two with stalls. The VPN Margherita(base of San Marzano tomato sauce, fresh fior di latte mozzarella, fresh basil, evoo + Grana Padano. VPNPIZZAS are officially certified by the AVPN(L’ Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana) from Naples, Italy), was good but the crust was so thin, that it became a bit soggy as soon as I started eating it, so when I picked up a slice to bite, I’d have to fold the inner pointy end in, to hold it together. Don’t think they would be good as leftovers for this reason. Whereas the Funghi Selvatici(roasted garlic cream base, fresh fior di latte mozzarella, a mixture of fresh mushrooms, oregano, Grana Padano + a drizzle of truffle oil. $ 16) I enjoyed a LOT. I compare it to Morris East pizza in almost every way. I find them just the right size where you will be full but not bursting. Another in my party tried a basic calzoni(unfortunately I forget which), which looked delicious(basically is just one of their pizzas folded in half though), and she liked it a lot and had had it before. Service is friendly. Would like to come back for lunch someday to try a salad perhaps. Although I do prefer evening meals with lots of wine.(which they serve in basic water glasses like in Italy, and chill your bottle in one of those stand-up plastic bags).
