Whoever you have manning the phones needs classes in customer service! I just recently moved to this province from Ontario. I needed to know what the café timings were like. I got a very rude man on the phone who asked me to never call back even before I started talking! Make sure that I will recommend to my friends NEVEREVER to go to a place who don’t know how to respect people.

I went here for the first time yesterday and will definitely be back. I got the smoked ham panini, for $ 7.95. It’s a pretty fair price considering the fresh ingredients and size of it(it’s a hefty sandwich). There was Gouda, apple, smoked ham, an original sauce and some fresh greens on the plate(poorly presented but still tasty). I have passed this place multiple times on my lunch breaks, always confused of the menu boards(didn’t get my attention, and main meals are angled away from the entrance area). I regret not having tried it sooner. My friend often gets the Coconut Lemon cookie– and raves about them.

I’ve been meaning to head into the Mindful Mango for a while, but today was the first time I had enough time to pop by. And man, I was not disappointed! The menu isn’t large but it’s got some delicious looking soups, sandwiches and salads as well as baked goods. They support local producers/growers and their fare is hot(or cold!) and delicious! Today I grabbed their Duo Deal — ½ panini and ½ salad. I got a ½ roast chicken panini and ½ king caesar salad. The roast chicken was hot and made right in front of me with pesto mayo(which was AWESOME despite the fact that I am not a huge mayo fan), caramelized onions, grilled peppers & mozza cheese. It was FANTASTIC. Next time, I may need a whole one! The king caesar was also lovely. Fresh, crisp greens, REAL bacon(and GOOD bacon!), with homemade croutons and a light dressing. It was a perfect pairing for lunch and I’m glad I stopped in! I can’t wait to try the tomato-basil soup next time. YUM!

Mindful Mango is located in the food court at Bayers Road Centre and I LOVE this place — it is perfect when you want to get a healthier lunch on the go. I have been 4 or 5 times and each time, my panini or salad was delicious and the latte’s were great. Not a large menu but an interesting one with a soup for the day such as, asparagus & apple or squash; paninis with apples, blue cheese, carmelized onions, mango chutneys and they also have quinoa salads. In addition to loving their food and coffee, I love their whole philosophy. They support local businesses such as Fox Hill and use locally sourced and fair traded ingredients. They also support the Mental Health Society by hiring staff that are transitioning back to the workplace. The staff have been very friendly. What is there not to love? I wish there were more options like Mindful Mango in food courts.

*Sigh* I really want to love this place, I really do but I just can’t. I really love their paninis and their breakfast sandwiches are quite good but sadly, there’s something missing. The price is average, probably a little on the pricier side, but it is what it is — fancier versions of standard sandwiches. The Village has too few choices there’s the Treats(which I have my beef with as you see by my review) and subway(which is great but gets old quick) and the Deli(which I’ll write a review for soon enough). Out of these, I will lean more toward the Mindful Mango Café but only because of lack of selection rather than because I WANT to go. I think what puts me off really is the menu — small selection and the efficiency –or lack there of– with service. The people are really nice, but man are they ever slow. I try to be patient but when I’m running out of the office to grab a latte, I don’t want to be standing around for 10 minutes for something that takes half that time anywhere else. If the menu was a bit wider and the service was faster, I wouldn’t hesitate to give them a higher rating, but until then, they get a 3.

Lets face it — as the work week progresses you come to the point(usually for me mid-week) where you just can’t take another brown bag lunch. So yesterday I met two gal friends for lunch at the Mindful Mango Café at Bayer’s Road. My lunch was superb — I ordered the veggie wrap with bean pâté but had them put chicken on top — wrap was a good size and very delicious — veggies very fresh and chicken tender and flavorful. Staff was great and very friendly — I did learn that the Mindful Mango employs folks who are transitioning back to the regular work force for a multitude of reasons which is a very good thing. So next time you want a change from your regular brown bag lunch remember The Mindful Mango — it is really a win win situation all around!

I stumbled upon this place, nestled within the Bayer’s Road Centre(formerly«The Village at Bayer’s Road», formerly«Bayer’s Road Shopping Centre), after running an errand elsewhere in the building. Finding myself with a hankering for a smoothie, I decided to give one of theirs a try. I ordered the Very Berry(only comes in one size, large, which is about the same size as a large coffee at Tim’s), and was impressed. It wasn’t too thick, nor too watery, and was sweet without being too sweet. The man who rung in my order and made my smoothie was cheerful and good-humoured, and helped brighten my experience here even further. Aside from the aforementioned smoothies, The Mindful Mango also sells a number of coffe– and tea– related beverages, and offers many edible choices, from sandwiches, to bagels, to desserts(and probably more, but that’s all I can recall at the moment).
