As an engineering alumni from dalhousie I clearly have to give this bar 5 stars. So many good times and memories. Cheap drinks(pitchers of booze), trivia night, engineering discipline themed nights, pub crawls… Let’s not forget tormenting the security at Dal — a must while intoxicated on sexton campus! ! Will always go back with alumni to catch up.

The T Room is a fun college bar with pool, shuffleboard, and cheap drinks. And the best part is, it’s right in my neighborhood. I often hit up the Friday night trivia, which is really fun. I’d prefer a third round of trivia to the frequent«Guess what candy bar/bag of chips is in my backpack» noise, but it’s still a fun time. I love that it’s on a Friday so I don’t have to worry about leaving before trivia is over, and the questions are great. Overall, a fun bar with a relaxed, dive-y atmosphere.

I used to date an Engineer, and while he was a great dude with great friends the experience instilled in me a distaste for the whole race of engineering types. Therefore being in a bar full of them is not my idea of the perfect evening. I have, however, become a fan of and casual participator in trivia nights at local pubs. The T-Room has one on Fridays so I put aside my hesitations about the crowd and checked it out. The only other local trivia night I have to compare it to is the one at the Rogue’s Roost, but I definitely prefer the way RR does it. The action at the T-Room seemed to take forever, with frequent«Guess which candy bar is in my backpack» rounds(?!). We all like free candy, but I would happily trade the chance to win a Kit Kat for speedier action. For what it’s worth I enjoyed the hosts themselves, but the whole thing moved along too slowly to keep my interest. Oooh, plus they were encouraging the consumption of a special drink that was created just for trivia nights that sounded atrocious — I think it was a shot of Jaeger dropped into a glass of that neon-blue Vex with some other crazy additive? Good lord, no! I will stick to Rogue’s Roost for my trivia needs, and imagine that’s the last(or nearly so) that I’ll see of the T-room. For folks in engineering, though, this is an awesomely convenient place to grab a pint. In undergrad my faculty had kegs on tap at all times, which was not only amazing for stress relief, but really encouraged a friendly atmosphere between students, staff and professors, who would share casual drinks in the afternoon or evening. It is my opinion that having a local watering hole for your faculty is key to creating community, so I’m glad these folks have one at their disposal.

Ahh, The T Room. The location of my first legally purchased alcoholic beverage. The Sexton Campus bar actually manages to be a pretty funky spot, despite its status as a student bar. With pool tables, shuffleboard, live bands, Thursday night trivia and movie nights, ‘T-Room’ retains a pretty steady stream of current Dalhousie students as well as recent alumni. Be sure to check out the pitchers of rum and coke!
