I had a great experience here last Saturday. My boyfriend and I are moving into a new home together next month and have been giddy with excitement over the countless possibilities of new furniture we can fill it with. We’ve been looking around online for inspiration and went to a few furniture stores prior to Zephyr but my experience there was the first time I felt a sense of relief after leaving the store. We were greeted promptly and the woman recognized my boyfriend(who bought a few pieces from the store YEARS ago). She started asking what we were looking for and before I knew it she was dealing out the most useful tips and tricks for how to make each room achieve the style and feel we wanted. I should note, this was after us telling her that we wouldn’t be ready to buy for some time and were just in to get ideas. Talking to her felt just like catching up with an old friend, which made the whole experience comfortable and not like we were going to be forced into buying a $ 1200 lamp on the spot. She let us roam around the store after about 25 minutes of conversation so we could see what they had to offer but also made it clear that she could special order just about anything we wanted in any colour/fabric. Like I mentioned previously, it really felt relieving walking out of the store because I knew we could go back at any time, with any question or concern and she’d be able to figure it out for us and in a way that made the most financial sense. We will certainly be back when we’re ready to purchase!

Ever since I was eighteen, I’ve been a pro at living beyond my means. Sure, I’ve tamed things down since joining bank accounts with a much more sensible counterbalance, but the fact remains, I’m no stranger to big price tags and can easily sell myself on high-end products if they’re exactly what I’m looking for. As such, I get a little resentful when I feel like people think I don’t have the cash flow to merit talking to in a shop. I mean, I DON’T have the cash flow for a place like Zephyr… but that’s besides the point. I easily COULD make a purchase regardless. At Zephyr, I couldn’t help but get the distinct feeling that this was not a place for someone like me, as clearly very wealthy retired folks sat around with personal attendants, filling out paperwork and sipping their expensive coffees(uh…sister please… I had just come from the Smiling Goat. My coffee was more expensive than yours, old man). The products and brands in the shop are about as gorgeous as the modern building it’s located in. Very modern, clean, and minimalist which is pretty much everything I live for. I only toured around the bottom floor because I honestly got the feeling I might get bounced if I tried to make it upstairs so I got my Pretty Woman butt outta there. I’ll save my irresponsible impulse buys for places like Attica and M Home where they know how to irresponsibly up-sell a twenty-something with an eye for nice things and no grasp on consequences.

For those with an appetite for savvy furniture fixings, Zephyr is set up to swoon. The store houses a thick selection of upscale décor with emphasis on modern-esque and innovative designs. Oddly shaped clocks to offer an artistic experience with time. Lamps to light ones sight and spirits. The overall product is a coming together of functionality and modernization with a refined edge. The layout is visionary and displays Zephyr’s offerings well. Textures and fabrics stood out to me as being exceptional. Its all very thoughtful. The best of leathers are paired alongside more subtle fabrics– there is an attention to new age shape and design, but not tryingly so. I will have dreams of the Barcelona lounge chair, I’m sure. But such taste comes a price. Furnishings are pricey and for those looking to spare no expense. I’ll be restricted to window shopping for the time being, although I did purchase a magnetic key holder for a friend for $ 15. It was a beautiful dark mahogany wood and was a small piece of luxury to take with me!

Furniture for the rich and the famous! Listen up couch lovers: this place has some seriously luxurious furnishings, enough to make even the most well decked out home blush. A little Quinpool stroll led me into this sexy shop this afternoon. They have fantastic displays, as well as a nice store layout. I prefer this store over P9 for both its merchandise and its sleek vibes. It has ample product to peruse but doesn’t cram it in, which I appreciate. Tasteful displays draw the eye in, leaving you wanting the whole display and not just bits and pieces. I saw a stylish hanging floor lamp, weighted on one side allowing you to choose just how low the light hangs. I also saw some neat retro bar stools and a beautiful wooden coffee table. Their rug selection was a little boring for my taste, but most everything else was pretty fab. Head in with your credit card or else a new mortgage on whatever assets you possess. These designs are going to cost you, but at least you’ll be relaxing in style post bank account raid.

I couldn’t agree more with Adam. Zephyr has lovely stuff, with very big price tags. We were looking for a sofa and I spotted one in the window. It was late and the store was closed, but I did notice the price tag and couldn’t believe my eyes… gorgeous lines, well made and the price tag said $ 245. What can I say… I couldn’t wait for the store to open the next day. Well, much to my disappointment, although I did see the 2 and the 4 and the 5, what I didn’t see was the last digit — another 5! Oh well, definitely a place I’d visit if I won the lotto. Everything is beautiful, from the furniture to the accessories and furnishings. If you have deep pockets, it is the place to shop.

Zephyr Rug & Home has some pretty cool gear in their Quinpool Road location if you’re looking to take out a mortgage or two to pay for it. I think the staff must have got the sense that I was browsing only when I walked through the doors because they had very little interest in me, which was annoying because I was the only person in the store. It’s nice to at least be acknowledged, even if there was no way I could afford their(genuinely) lovely 50 dollar table ornament. The furniture in Zephyr is really stunning and surprisingly functional given its very mod design. it certainly wouldn’t be for everyone, but it’s right up my ally. I would love to be able to afford the furniture in Zephyr and hopefully some day I’ll be able to. Until then I will continue to peruse through the store while the staff ignores me(Do I really look like that much of a scruff?)
