I used to shop at this store when I was in grade school, I wasn’t the skinniest, but not the heaviest either, I was average, and their clothes fit me at that time very well, heck my mom was even able to shop there, and whenever I would go into the store I would see older women there too all different shapes and sizes. but now.this store has changed a lot! Their clothes are 100x smaller, it’s ridiculous… why the sudden change in clothing size? I agree with the other review-er. (all opinions are from my OWN experience)

Most of my clothes from high school were from Garage clothing. I enjoy their jeans, tank tops and sweaters as the style is always pretty«with the times». I am not one to follow trends but like to look presentable while feeling comfortable. For a long time, my go-to place was Garage clothing. Normally, I fit into a medium shirt. My size is average and the only«larges» I buy are generally for sweaters as they tend to shrink in the dryer. Recently, I went to Garage Clothing to purchase a button up plaid shirt and noticed that the buttons at the top(around the bust area) were pretty tight, so I asked for a Large. That was all well and good until I couldn’t do up the top buttons on the Large either! I didn’t want to bother the employee again so I looked through the sizes for an XL(which I thought was a little over-the-top considering my regular sizing). Imagine my surprise when I saw a ton of extra small but no extra large. At this point, I decided to ask the employee for help finding a size. I was quickly informed by the girl that they«do not carry» extra large sizes. I have never felt so fat in my entire life, and settled for a large because I really wanted the shirt. In retrospect, I should have stormed out of there with my money still in my pocket. Garage Clothing is a nice store for teens and young adults but the sizing is way off. If you are a size 8 or 9 jeans normally, expect to look for an 11 or 12. It seems like maybe their target demographic is 12 to 16 yr olds, as not many people older than that can fit into their clothes! I do really like the styles and admit, that if I wasn’t so disappointed in their services that day, I would probably still shop there, but I have a really hard time supporting businesses that make young girls feel insecure in their own bodies. To paint a picture, I am an average sized 24 year old woman who wears a medium sized shirt. I left that day feeling fat and frumpy and ugly after purchasing a large that I could barely button up and being told that, basically, they don’t carry clothes that fit me. I can’t even imagine a young girl who is a bit overweight trying to shop there. If it upset me(a strong-willed, independent adult), then I can seriously see the issues in this store effecting the self esteem of a young teen-aged girl. I think any store that carries extra small should also carry extra large. I think it is disgusting that they are promoting/supporting being underweight but not catering to people of average size or larger. I seriously contemplated writing a complaint to the store stating my disappointment in my experience there, but I haven’t yet. My heart goes out to all the young girls trying to dress in style and not being able to because for some reason, stores like Garage Clothing don’t sell clothing bigger than a size Large. That was the last time I shopped in there — yes, maybe I am too«old» to shop there in the first place. But I have seen young kids that are my size and sometimes bigger and I do not think it is fair that these girls have to be embarrassed when they can’t purchase a larger size as the store has no access to any. In summary, if you are shopping for someone of a tiny build, or a young age, then Garage Clothing has some cheap prices and nice clothes. But be prepared to be disappointed if you weigh anything over 130 pounds.
